Gun Finish evaluation
Hello to all. Thank you so much for watching another video of mine. In this video, I am doing a quick evaluation of a product I used to finish my old 336 Marlin. This product is called Duracoate the color was (Tactical Black) and this went on like a satin black. This was exactly the color I wanted, not glossy but also not flat either. This finish took some metal prep and once sprayed took about 3 hours to cure enough to re-assemble, though knowing what I know now I should have let it sit for a full day before re-assembly. The finish is very hard once dry and it goes on smoothly and looks smooth as well just as long as you follow the directions and do multiple light coats first and then a heavier coat last. I am very happy with the product and will definitely purchase more if I get another gun to re-finish. The only spot the finish has started to come off is the ammo gate where you load rounds into the lever action. I probably needed to scuff that area up with more course sandpaper to make the product adhere better there but that is also where you load the ammo so the rim of the cartridge is dragging on the metal there so most anything will eventually come off of that area because of that. I hope this was helpful to some and I certainly appreciate you all watching. Thank you and Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter (Shane)

Spring 2023 Update
Hello to all, I am FINALLY back! Thank you all for checking out another video of mine. I was laid up for a few weeks this month going to the hospital a time or two. April was a tough month for me. I had gotten an infection that I twice needed IV antibiotics and general day surgery. I am doing better now God Willing! This video is just a quick check-in of me finally being able to get back out into the woods for once. I took the snow plow off of my ATV and took it on a ride about a mile in the woods across the road from Home. I will have more videos out soon. God Bless and Good Hunting!

Turning 3 guns into 1
Hello friends and family. In this video, I reveal the newest member of my gun family and tell you what ones are left in order for this one to become a reality. I have decided to have fewer guns because quite a few sit in the closet for a year or two before I use them and that just seems to be a waste. I decided to let the 30:06 rem semi-auto, the rem VTR 223, and the Marlin 45/70 go in order to be able to get this rifle. I still have quite a few guns. The guns that are left are higher-end guns that suit how I hunt and shoot much better. In a perfect world, I would have kept them all but I do not have that kind of money so I had to make the best decision for myself and this is what I have decided upon.

Curiosity did what?
Hello friends and family. Happy New Year! I want to thank everyone for watching another video of mine. We have had some crazy weather this season so far and it has put a slight damper on my videos. In this video, I go back to where I scouted after deer season and set out 2 trail cameras. I decided to go check on the cameras and see what was on those SD cards. As they say "Curiosity Kille the cat" I am the cat in this situation LOL. God Bless and Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter (Shane)

Scouting for 2023
Hello to all my friends and family. Yes, hunting season 2022 is over. I was finally able to get that buck over 200 lbs and fill my doe tag. That was a couple of first for me. This video is of me starting the process all over again for the year 2023. Most hunters know that the best time to scout for deer is usually the day after deer season. I am starting that process myself. On this day I have 2 trail cameras I am setting out to get a jump start on the next year. No time like the present as they say. God Bless and Good Hunting! Hunter's Medley 2022
Hello to all. I want to thank you all for watching another deer season of mine. Finally, after 43 years of hunting, I was able to get a buck of over 200 lbs. Anybody who has watched my channel would have heard me talking about trying to get one for the whole duration of my channel's existence. I have passed up many animals in the process though most were before I started making videos.
This was also the first year I was able to purchase an extra tag to be able to have the chance to tag 2 deer in Maine. As luck would have it I was able to do that as well. This video is just a little sum of most of the hunts during the season with a little music in the background. I truly appreciate you all taking the time out of your busy lives to watch my videos. Thank you for all the encouragement and advice along the way. God Bless and Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter (Shane)

Last Days Of Muzzleloader Season
Hello to all. Thank you so much for watching another video of mine. In this video, it is getting down to the wire. I pull out all the stops and decide to do some walking/scouting. The deer just haven't been where the early Fall trail cameras were saying they would be, at least not during the day. I have to pull my bootstraps up and re-evaluate what I was doing. This video shows the rest. Sometimes strategies need to be changed to make them work. God Bless and Good Hunting from Maine North Woods Hunter (Shane)

Muzzleloader season 2022
Hello to all. Thank you so much for watching another video of mine. This video is the first half of my only week to muzzleloader hunt. Maine only allows certain zones one week to hunt while others have 2 weeks. In my Zone I can only hunt for 1 week, zone 14. I have purchased an extra doe tag this year and that is why I am confined to this one particular zone. At least I get a chance to shoot a second deer. This is when in Maine it really starts getting cold during hunting season. I have been constantly re-evaluating places that I hunt. Getting a little snow helped me set my focus on a few particular areas. Thank you so much for watching. God Bless and Good Hunting!

Anticosti Hunt
Hello friends and family. This is a short video of my brother's trip to hunt with a friend up at Anticosti Island in Canada. There was not a lot of video or pictures but I wanted to make a short video of it nun the less. My brother had the opportunity to shoot two deer. He shot a 6 point buck and a doe. He did not have any video or pictures of the doe that he shot. The snow came early and it was deep. He stated that it was very windy there the whole time as well. Enjoy the video and thank you for watching.

Last day of 2022 rifle season
Hello to all my friends and family. Thank you so much for watching. UGH! it has happened. The rifle season is ending. I have been trying to shoot a doe with my Marlin 30/30. It has been a slow year for seeing deer during the day. I have come to the conclusion that I need to do a ton of scouting the very day after deer season because they are obviously changing what they do just as deer season starts here in the Middle of Maine. Follow along and see what transpires. Thank you once again for watching! God Bless and Good Hunting!

Hunting Maine's Elusive Doe
Hello to all. Thank you so much for watching another video of mine. I am still in search of a doe in this Video. This time of year after the rut all the deer seem to disappear. I have been trying to find fresh tracks in the snow so I have a better idea of where to hunt. The temperatures are getting colder so that also makes me change my hunting procedures. I still have time and will do my best.

In Search of a Doe
Hello to all my friends and family here on Maine North Woods Hunter. After being on cloud nine for Finally shooting my 200+ pound deer. I realized that I had purchased a doe tag at the beginning of the season and I need to try to fill that. Here I am back at it again. This will be the first year in Maine that I have ever had the chance to take more than one deer in a single season. Getting one certainly seems to take the pressure off of getting your second. I found a new spot that seems to be of great potential just as long as the wind is in your favor. Here is my first try at this new place.

A Maine "RUT" Hunt
Hello to all. This video is the second part of my 3rd week of deer hunting. Traditionally this is what we call "RUT" week. This is the time when most bucks seem to be looking for a doe in heat. There is the pre-rut and post-rut but where I hunt in Maine, I have gotten most of my deer during this week because the bucks are pushing the does and the bucks are moving the most looking for does. I have been looking for spots I can sit in my truck this week because it has gotten much colder and me being a paraplegic who can not feel much of my lower extremities I need to be safe. I use distance to help hide my scent and my newest long-range rifle. My dream rifle is the Christensen Arms Mess LR in 7mm rem mag. I have done my best to stack as many odds in my favor. This hunt will show the rest. God Bless and Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter (Shane)

Maine Week Three "RUT" Week!
Hello to all and thank you for taking time out of your day to watch another video of mine. Week 3 in Maine is usually the best chance to shoot a buck. The rut is usually in full swing and you better be in the woods every day all day. I am looking for the right spot and narrowing down the field on this hunt. Deer seem to be in different places than they have been so it is making it more difficult to find them. I thought shooting a doe would be a simple thing. I purchased a doe tag so this year I am allowed a buck or doe, One or the other in any zone you are allowed to shoot a doe in because I have a disabled hunting license. I then purchased a leftover doe tag for my zone, 14 this year, so I can technically shoot 2 deer this year. I am doing my best and trying to get a doe first but now that it is the "RUT" I will focus more on the bucks now and start using my 7mm rem mag more to increase my odds and I also will start sitting at longer range areas as well to increase my odds. We shall see what happens. God Bless and Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter.

A New Rifle Review 2022
Hello to all who take the time to watch my videos, Thank You! In this video, I am sighting in a new rifle. The rifle is not for me though. This rifle is my brother's new rifle. He had purchased a Remington model 7400 and it kept cracking the front forestock. He is going to hunt Anticosti Island in Canada at the end of the week and did not trust his Remington 7400 30:06. Needless to say he went out and purchased another rifle. He went to the reliable bolt action and purchased one of the newest rifles on the market, a CVA CASCADE. This rifle is in the 6.5 Creedmore caliber. I first take two shots at 60 yards to make sure it is hitting the target. This scope is the scope that was on my brother's 30:06. The scope is a Vortex crossfire-2. The video gives you the results of the test. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch another video of mine. God Bless and Good Hunting! Mid Deer Season 2022
Hello to all and thank you so much for watching another video of mine. In this video, I do some more long-range hunting in my truck as well as some close-range hunting. As many hunters know it gets a little frustrating at times hunting and not seeing anything. I am no exception to that. Once the temperature starts to drop into the 20's I spend more time in my truck. I can not feel my feet and I need to keep them warm so that and once the snow hits the ground it is a lot harder for me to walk with my crutches. I also start hunting a new spot or two. Thank you again so much for watching. Keep the faith fellow hunters. God Bless and Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter.

Long Range Deer Hunt
Hello and thank you all for watching another video of mine. The season is well underway now and all the deer I have seen so far are "Dark Deer" deer I have seen in the dark weather early in the morning or after shooting light in the evening. I give an update on why I haven't hunted at the camp yet at the beginning of the video and I then get into hunting some places you have seen me hunt before as well as some new ones. I hope you enjoy the video. Hunting in Maine isn't easy and seeing anything is a blessing for me. I do my best with what I have. God Bless, and Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter (Shane)

The End Of Deer Week One
Hello to you all. Thank you so much for spending the time to watch another video of mine. This video is the second half of the week, hunting the first week of rifle season for deer here in Maine 2022. I am slowly refining my areas and trying to figure out where they are at this time of year. Sometimes Deer Hunting is like solving a puzzle. I hope that I can at least tag out a doe this year. I did pay an extra $14 for an extra Doe tag. We shall see. God Bless and Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter (Shane)

Deer hunting continues-2022
Hello friends and family. Thank you so much for watching another video of mine. I hunt for a few days in this video. I am trying out many spots and seeing where the sign is. As anybody knows who hunts in the Maine Woods, you are constantly adapting to the weather, the wind, and many other conditions such as logging etc... I hope that this format is ok for people. I realize making every hunt its own video would be very boring though in real life that is how it is in my world. It is a lot of work but I love trying anyway. Dear Season 2022 Day #1
Hello to all. Thank you so much for watching another video of mine. It is FINALLY here, Deer season in Maine. After careful scrutiny, I finally decided to go to KI for the first day. I was almost 30 miles down a dirt road actually multiple dirt roads to my old standby place. I have hunted this area many times in the past and seen many deer. I had to give it a good try. First I was going to sit in the truck for the first half of the day because I didn't want to walk in the dark getting to the stand. I also wanted to freshen up the scrape and licking branch for the season so I needed some daylight for that as well. The video gives you the rest of the story. God Bless! Thanks for coming along.

A Day Of Moose Hunting
Hello to all, I want to thank you so much for taking the time to watch another video of mine. This video is of me and my family trying to take a cow moose in a different zone than we normally hunt in a SPECIAL season. The season was the same length just 1/4 the size of a normal zone to hunt. We scouted this area the week before and only saw one bull and one cow and they were together and when we saw them we were pretty much on our way out from scouting for the day. The video shows the rest. God Bless and Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter (Shane)

Where to Hunt The First Day?
Hello all, thank you for watching another video of mine. In this video, I discuss thoughts on where to hunt on the first day. I show a few places I am looking at and trying to decide where I want to hunt on the first day. Ultimately it all depends on the wind and the weather though. You really need to pay attention to which direction your scent is going in orientation to where you are going to face. I have been monitoring the weather for days paying attention to what is or may be coming for opening day. As of today Thursday the 27th they are saying 38-59 degrees and saying a south-south-west wind. You know how the weather is, it can change in a moment's time. I keep monitoring the data given and will make my best guess the night before. With all the details given so far, and deer season being on the 29th of this year. I will go to KI for the first day because the wind is not right for my place across the road for the first day. Unless things change, that is what I will do. In KI I will hunt in the truck for the first half of the day because it would be difficult for me to get where I need to go with crutches there in the dark. After lunch, I will make my way to the stand and put down some scent and see what happens. I will keep you all posted. God Bless, and Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter (Shane)
