"Roxaboxen" & The World's Best Pizza! Children's Book Review at Mrs. Pilcher's Bookshelf Episode 36
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to live in your own town that you helped build? Our book last time was Roxaboxen written by Alice McLerran and illustrated by Barbara Cooney. This is a story written by Alice about the town her mom helped build when she was a child in Yuma, Arizona. The kids used their imagination and the items they could find – rocks, boxes, cactus – to build their town. There was a mayor and even a jail (you didn’t want to get caught speeding in your car). For several years the town grew. It was a wonderful time to live in Roxaboxen. Roxaboxen was published by HarperCollins and is recommended for children ages 4-8.
