Pelecanus Linnaeus, 1758 is a genus of waterfowl, the only living genus in the family Pelecanidae. The genus includes 8 species, all of them large, living on large lakes or near marine coasts. Their characteristic feature is the deep throat sac under the long, broad beak. They have no sexual dimorphism. Pelicans have short, strong legs and webbed feet that make them move swiftly through the water and facilitate their rather clumsy takeoff from the liquid surface.

The barred owl (Asio otus (Linnaeus, 1758)) is a bird of prey belonging to the family Strigidae. Widespread in North America, Europe and Asia, it lives mainly in coniferous forests and woodlands.

The distinction between butterflies and moths does not respond to a scientific taxonomic classification but derives from common usage. Based on this "popular" distinction, some past authors have proposed a distinction between rhopalocera (Rhopalocera, i.e., butterflies).

Native to the forests of India, it was already known to ancient Greece. The Romans bred it both for its beauty and for the delicacy of its meat and eggs.

It has been the symbol of the United States since 1782 as well as of some divisions of that country's armed forces, such as the 101st Division.

Cervids (Cervidae Goldfuss, 1820) are a family of artiodactyl mammals, many of which are known by the common name deer. The natural range of cervids includes almost all of Europe (all of northern and eastern Europe but also much of southern and western Europe), all of Asia (from Indonesia to Siberia and from Turkey to the Chukci Peninsula), plus both Americas. In Africa, on the other hand, cervids have become extinct.

The psittaciforms (Psittaciformes Wagler, 1830) are an order of neornithic birds comprising numerous species of animals known by the common name of parrots.[1] With four families, the order is well spread and represented in tropical and subtropical areas of most of the Planet: in particular, peaks of biodiversity are reached in South America and Australasia. Some species are native to the temperate areas of the Southern Hemisphere (such as Tierra del Fuego or New Zealand), and the Carolina parakeet as guessed from its name was widespread before extinction in the central and eastern United States: other species (such as the Alexandrian parakeet and the monk parakeet) were intentionally or accidentally introduced to Mediterranean areas (including Italy) and have established stable populations there.

The black bear (Ursus americanus Pallas, 1780) or baribal is the most common bear in North America. It is encountered in a geographic area extending from northern Canada and Alaska to northern Mexico, and from the Atlantic to Pacific coasts of North America.

He seems immersed in a deep sleep, but all it takes is a gentle caress and he immediately begins to purr. Thus cats are able to rest while remaining alert and ready.

The pink flamingo or greater flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus Pallas, 1811) is the largest and most widespread species in the flamingo family. This species is widespread in Africa, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and southern Europe.[3] Its closest relatives are the red flamingo and the Chilean flamingo, which were previously considered conspecific with the pink flamingo but are now considered separate species.
