only in theaters january 13
From the most prolific minds in horror—James Wan, the filmmaker behind the Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring franchises, and Blumhouse, the producer of the Halloween films, The Black Phone and The Invisible Man—comes a fresh new face in terror.
M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a life-like doll programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. Designed by brilliant toy-company roboticist Gemma (Get Out’s Allison Williams), M3GAN can listen and watch and learn as she becomes friend and teacher, playmate and protector, for the child she is bonded to.
When Gemma suddenly becomes the caretaker of her orphaned 8-year-old niece, Cady (Violet McGraw, The Haunting of Hill House), Gemma’s unsure and unprepared to be a parent. Under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an attempt to resolve both problems—a decision that will have unimaginable consequences.
Produced by Jason Blum and James Wan, M3GAN is directed by award-winning filmmaker Gerard Johnstone (Housebound), from a screenplay by Akela Cooper (Malignant, The Nun 2) based on a story by Akela Cooper and James Wan.

Smile (2022 Movie) - American psychological horror film now playing in theaters
"Smile," a new horror film, is currently showing in theaters. Normally, the word "smile" conjures up good feelings, but when terror is involved, it has the exact opposite effect. Having said that, what precisely happens in the movie Smile?
Based on his 2020 short film Laura Hasn't Slept, Smile is an American psychological horror film written and directed by Parker Finn.
Sosie Bacon plays a therapist in the movie who, after witnessing a patient commit an odd suicide, has a series of frightening and unsettling experiences that make her think what she is going through is otherworldly.
A psychiatrist named Dr. Rose Cotter assists patients in an institution. When a patient commits suicide in front of Rose during a visit, it touches people. The young girl screams at something Rose can't see, and as she holds a shard of pottery in her palm, a creepy smile appears on her face. The patient appears to have a deep smile on her face and neck based on the overlay of the covered body in the trailer. Dr. Rose Cotter begins having terrible experiences that she cannot explain after seeing a strange, horrific incident involving a patient.
The tragic tragedy sets off a chain reaction that bestows a curse on Rose, who starts seeing ominous-looking figures everywhere she turns. She notices strangely identical smiles to her patient's everywhere she goes. She is curious as to what is ailing the girl and now her. She is smiling as she passes another patient's room at her place of employment. He appears to be in a trance, and as she tries to awaken him, he begins chanting that she is going to die, seemingly indicating the destination of the journey.
This movie is not appropriate for children, folks. It is graded "R" for severe violence, gore, language, and disturbing situations. It lasts for almost one hour and 55 minutes.

Dakota Johnson Teaches You How to Get Over an Ex in This ‘Persuasion’ Clip
Anne Elliot (Dakota Johnson) is in a tough spot. Years prior to the events of historical romance Persuasion, she was persuaded (get it?) to reject dashing seaman Frederick Wentworth (Cosmo Jarvis) by her snobby loved ones. Now Wentworth has come crashing back into her life, more successful, handsome and charming than ever... at the exact moment Anne’s posh family is on the brink of bankruptcy. If anyone is ready to give you advice on at least trying to get over an ex — it’s Anne. That’s why she’s leading a helpful seven-step video guide to moving on ahead of Persuasion’s July 15 premiere.
“Firstly, cry,” Anne narrates over a torrent of shots of her weeping throughout Persuasion, based on the novel of the same name by Jane Austen. If the course of true love never did run smooth, the road of heartbreak is even rockier. “Love me or kill me now — I can’t bear it,” Anne complains. Anne also recommends some helpful tips, like “listening to those well-meaning friends” and “finding a dashing new suitor.” Anne’s apparent rebound choice, the well-heeled Mr. Elliot, played by Henry Golding, makes a very splashy debut in the clip.
But breakups are messy. So not all of Anne’s advice is perfect. Watch the full video to see some of her more embarrassing moments, along with some very sexy prolonged eye contact between supposed “exes” Anne and Wentworth. Maybe this love isn’t quite so dead after all.
