Located in southeastern Krakow Poland is the Oskar Schindler Factory that saved the lives of 1,200 Jews during the Holocaust by employing them in his enamelware and ammunition factories in occupied Poland and the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Oskar Schindler is the subject of the 1982 novel Schindler's Ark and its 1993 film adaptation, Schindler's List, which reflected his life as an opportunist initially motivated by profit, who came to show extraordinary initiative, tenacity, courage, and dedication in saving the lives of his Jewish employees. Are the eccentric and oddly-shaped characters known around the world as "The Moomins" really to be found in an Ice Cave in Central Finland? I'd long ago heard they lived in a little house in Moomin Valley. I'd thought for much of my life these strange creatures were Hippopotamus and yet late in life I discover they are actually Trolls. Or could it be that the Swedes are calling them "MoominTrolls" whereas the world calls them "The Moomin"? Either way, I set out to central Finland because I "wondered" if they were really to be found in an Ice Cave in Leppavirta Finland? Helsinki Central Library Oodi opened in 2018 and within no time began to win awards and praise from around the world. However, due to problems with cement delivery, the hall was not opened to the public until 1889. The illegal occupation of Ukraine continues and with each day that passes Ukrainians are losing their lives, losing their homes, their livelihoods and possibly being permanently displaced forever. Nations around the world continue to provide humanitarian aid and the supply of arms to Ukraine but until we actually stand up to the Dictator Putin this war will likely ravage on. I went once again to the Russian Embassy to meet the Russians who are against the illegal invasion of Ukraine. I recently found myself trying to understand Finnish Sauna Culture while staying in a snow cabin in the Lakelands of Central Finland at a resort called Revontuli. Revontuli is where people go when they want to experience the Northern Lights and an escape from the stresses of the big city. "Revontuli" is the Finnish word for "Northern lights". While I was exploring the Hankasalmi region where Revontuli is I got to explore an array of different types of Sauna and tried my best to understand Finnish Sauna culture while an ice storm tried its best to make seeing the Northern Lights impossible. Jyväskylä is a city in the western part of the Finnish Lakelands. It is located about 150 km northeast of Tampere, the third-largest city in Finland; and about 270 km north of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Famous for hosting the world rally championships and attracting a large student population to its University. I took in the city while it was suffering under the poorly thought out idea of curfews. And yet despite the tyranny being pushed there was still plenty to keep me occupied over 24 hours I'm The Wondering Englishman - I spend my days wondering what places are like and what wonders they may have to offer.
