How to Crochet a Blanket using Bernat Velvet Yarn
You’ll love crocheting with different Bernat Velvet Yarn patterns to create this surprisingly easy crochet blanket. While using only basic crochet stitch (with a simple modification), you’ll quickly finish this easy crochet blanket with so much texture!
More information: https://craft-mart.com/diy-projects/bernat-velvet-yarn-pattern-textured-baby-blanket/
Bernat Velvet Yarn can be tricky to work with, but this free pattern is perfect for this type of yarn.
BERNAT velvet yarn is very slippery. For this reason, to achieve consistency in your crochet fabric, I suggest crocheting a little tighter than you would normally do. Accordingly, I’ve used H-8 5 mm crochet hook for this crochet baby blanket.

SPRING UNICORN INFINITY SCARF
If you are looking for a fast crochet scarf, this infinity scarf crochet pattern is for you! Most importantly, you’ll learn how to make an infinity scarf which is a basic life skill.
Why should you pick this pattern for your infinity scarf project? First of all, it is a one-skein project that you can crochet in a couple of hours. Second, it is a unique modern crochet stitch that will give your scarf lots of texture.
For materials, you'll need Lion Brand Mandala Yarn in Dragon Alley (or any color) and a crochet Hook US H/5. The Mandala Yarn is self-striping. In other words, you’ll get all these wonderful color-coordinated blocks without the need to change colors.
The finished size of crochet scarf is 6″ (width) by 60″ (length). You would have a small leftover ball of yarn, as the whole skein was too big to achieve the standard length of 60 inches. In fact, your infinity scarf needs to be long enough to make a double loop over the neck.

Crocheting with Cotton
Warm months are the best to try crocheting with cotton. It is natural to seek lighter yarns and lacy patterns to create summer tops, cardigans, beach cover-ups, and other accessories.
Cotton may become your favorite yarn to work with. This natural wonder is soft, durable, and versatile. There are many stitches that will look nice done with cotton. It is especially true for crossed double crochet stitches.
This textured lacy stitch is a two-row repeat. The first row is a simple twist on a classic double crochet stitch. You'll be able to understand and master it after watching this short tutorial. The second row is a simple row of single crochet stitches. By alternating these stitches, you'll create this beautiful stitch.

Easy Bernat Velvet Yarn Blanket Free Pattern
You would love this Bernat Velvet Blanket Pattern while crocheting a modern color block blanket. You will be repeating the same crochet stitch and the same row until you use the whole skein of yarn. No complicated instructions, no counting stitches or rows. Easy crochet blanket to make!
What are the challenges of velvet yarn?
First, consider its texture: it is composed of a myriad of tiny little bristles attached to one strand in the middle. Because of that, it looks thicker than it really is. To avoid having loose strands of yarn sticking out of your blanket, pick up a crochet hook that is a couple of sizes down from what is recommended. In general, it will solve the problem for most velvet yarn patterns. The second challenge is its slippery nature. For this reason, you can achieve consistency working with velvet yarn by working slightly tighter than you normally would.
As an illustration, on the blog, we have the same pattern crocheted with a different contrast velvet yarn. Bernat Velvet yarn gives you a lot of possibilities. You can pick any bright or pastel color combination to match your home or nursery décor. Featuring a beautiful shine and a wide range of shades, velvet yarn is a popular choice for blankets, throws, and other home accessory projects.

Cluster Crochet Stitch Blanket
This quick crochet blanket is created using a simple cluster stitch. Even a beginner would not have any trouble crocheting this crochet cluster. As a result, you'll have a chunky handmade creation to warm you up during colder months.
What yarn should you use for this quick blanket pattern? We recommend Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in Grey Heather in combination with Caron Latte Cake Yarn or any contrasting yarn (you can use a small ball of leftovers).
How to crochet a cluster stitch? First, we start with half double crochet foundation chain for this pattern. To start, you would need a multiple of 3+1. Second, chain 1 to start the first row. Third, crochet single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochet stitches in the same first stitch. This easy combination forms our cluster crochet stitch: sc, hdc, dc. From now on you will be repeating this combination over and over again.

Knitting a Simple 1x1 Rib Stitch
Are you new to knitting? Looking for simple knitting stitches that use only knit and purl stitches?
This short video tutorial is for you! If you have mastered basic knit and purl stitches, you can now learn a classic 1x1 rib stitch.
It is done by alternating knit and purl stitches. You would always knit above the previous row's knit stitch and purl above the purl stitch. It is called 1x1 rib as there is only 1 knit stitch and 1 purl stitch in this sequence.
The trick to keeping your edge nice and neat is to always SLIP the first stitch. It is a classic technique to create a selvage for your knitting project.
To start a simple rib stitch, cast on an even number of stitches. Try to make your cast on loose enough so your stitches slide easily on the knitting needle but all the stitches are the same size and height.

Crossed Double Crochet Stitch (Free pattern)
In this short video tutorial, you will learn how to create this pretty crochet pattern using crossed double crochet stitch. Basically, you will skip one stitch (from the previous row of single crochet) and then do regular double crochet (DC). Next, double crochet into the skipped stitch. This simple technique creates slightly slanted DC stitches that form a cross, hence the name of the stitch: crossed double crochet.
This video tutorial was made using cotton yarn and “I Love This Cotton” yarn by Hobby Lobby and Crochet Hook 3.25mm. It is a smaller size hook than is recommended for this yarn but it makes the stitch nice and tidy. You can use a hook size that best fits your style. Truly, the name of this yarn correctly describes its quality. This cotton is so soft, durable, and just perfect for a crochet shrug.
Surprisingly, one of the skeins I bought had a slight defect but I was able to exchange it effortlessly. Generally speaking, Hobby Lobby’s yarn is of great quality for all your crochet projects.
Most importantly, the cotton yarn comes in 75 colors! AS you can imagine, you can pick any color to match the dress for which your crochet shrug is intended.
I’ve also loved crocheting cotton shrugs with ‘I Love This Cotton’ Sparkle yarn from Hobby Lobby. It is not scratchy and gives just enough sparkle for a more festive shrug.
