Guitar for Vets

Vince Martell is an iconic guitar player of the great band Vanilla Fudge, he is a veteran and cares for and wants to help veterans. I got a chance to interview Vince in hopes to promote the program, Guitar for Vets, which uses music as therapy for veterans suffering from PTSD. This week you will only practice fingering your chord hand to build muscle memory, then check the chord with the thumb of your strum hand... let's leave the pick out. Now, remember if you feel comfortable using the pick work clean chords that way. Then float between your chords, the beginning of the transitions needed to play songs.

I am interviewing veterans that have completed the guitar for Vets program.

this is the first week of practice of a ten-week program. We are focused on tuning, holding, and making proper fingering of chords. We are working on one finger C, G, and em as well as Asus2.

We are reviewing basic chords, power chords, and reading tabs. We are also playing through "Leaving on a jet plane", and "Somethings happening Here"

We are practicing three songs: Hallelujah. Fire on the Mountian, There's Something Happening Here. If you are a veteran and battling mental health, PTSD, TBI then contact your local VA to see if they have a guitar for Vets program.
