fish - dolphin vaquita A rare type of dolphin.
Dolphin Vaquita, the world's rarest marine mammal, is on the edge of extinction. The plight of cetaceans—whales, dolphins, and porpoises—as a whole is exemplified by the rapid decline of the vaquita in Mexico, with about 10 individuals remaining.
This little porpoise wasn't discovered until 1958 and a little over half a century later, we are on the brink of losing them forever.
Vaquita are often caught and drowned in gillnets used by illegal fishing operations in marine protected areas within Mexico's Gulf of California. The population has dropped drastically in the last few years.
The vaquita has a large dark ring around its eyes and dark patches on its lips that form a thin line from the mouth to the pectoral fins.
Its top—the dorsal surface—is dark gray, its sides are pale gray, and its underside—the ventral surface—is white with long, light gray markings.
Newborn vaquita have darker coloration and a wide gray fringe of color that runs from the head to the flukes, passing through the dorsal and pectoral fins.
They are most often found close to shore in the Gulf's shallow waters, although they quickly swim away if a boat approaches.

Very beautiful birds - bird Atlantic puffin
Very beautiful birds - bird Atlantic puffin
The Atlantic puffin (Fratercula arctica), also known as the common puffin, is a species of seabird in the auk family. It is the only puffin native to the Atlantic Ocean; two related species, the tufted puffin and the horned puffin, are found in the northeastern Pacific.
The Atlantic puffin breeds in Russia, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Greenland, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, and the Faroe Islands, and as far south as Maine in the west and France in the east.
It is most commonly found on the Westman Islands, Iceland. Although it has a large population and a wide range, the species has declined rapidly, at least in parts of its range, resulting in it being rated as vulnerable by the IUCN. On land, it has the typical upright stance of an auk.
At sea, it swims on the surface and feeds on small fish and crabs, which it catches by diving under water, using its wings for propulsion.
This puffin has a black crown and back, pale grey cheek patches, and white body and underparts. Its broad, boldly marked red-and-black beak and orange legs contrast with its plumage. It moults while at sea in the winter, and some of the brightly coloured facial characteristics are lost, with colour returning again during the spring.
The external appearances of the adult male and female are identical, though the male is usually slightly larger. The juvenile has similar plumage, but its cheek patches are dark grey.
The juvenile does not have brightly coloured head ornamentation, its bill is narrower and is dark-grey with a yellowish-brown tip, and its legs and feet are also dark. Puffins from northern populations are typically larger than in the south and these populations are generally considered a different subspecies.
Spending the autumn and winter in the open ocean of the cold northern seas, the Atlantic puffin returns to coastal areas at the start of the breeding season in late spring.
It nests in clifftop colonies, digging a burrow in which a single white egg is laid.
Chicks mostly feed on whole fish and grow rapidly.
After about 6 weeks, they are fully fledged and make their way at night to the sea. They swim away from the shore and do not return to land for several years.
Colonies are mostly on islands with no terrestrial predators, but adult birds and newly fledged chicks are at risk of attacks from the air by gulls and skuas.
Sometimes, a bird such as an Arctic skua or black back gull can cause a puffin arriving with a beak full of fish to drop all the fish the puffin was holding in its mouth.
The puffin's striking appearance, large, colourful bill, waddling gait, and behaviour have given rise to nicknames such as "clown of the sea" and "sea parrot".
It is the official bird of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

beautiful birds - Bohemian waxwing
The Bohemian waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus) is a starling-sized passerine bird that breeds in the northern forests of the Palearctic and North America.
It has mainly buff-grey plumage, black face markings and a pointed crest.
Its wings are patterned with white and bright yellow, and some feather tips have the red waxy appearance that give this species its English name. The three subspecies show only minor differences in appearance.
Females are similar to males, although young birds are less well-marked and have few or no waxy wingtips. Although the Bohemian waxwing's range overlaps those of the cedar and Japanese waxwings, it is easily distinguished from them by size and plumage differences.
The breeding habitat is coniferous forests, usually near water. The pair build a lined cup-shaped nest in a tree or bush, often close to the trunk. The clutch of 3–7 eggs is incubated by the female alone for 13–14 days to hatching. The chicks are altricial and naked, and are fed by both parents, initially mostly with insects, but thereafter mainly fruit. They fledge about 14–16 days after leaving the egg. Many birds desert their nesting range in winter and migrate farther south. In some years, large numbers of Bohemian waxwings irrupt well beyond their normal winter range in search of the fruit that makes up most of their diet.
Waxwings can be very tame in winter, entering towns and gardens in search of food, rowan berries being a particular favourite.
They can metabolise alcohol produced in fermenting fruit, but can still become intoxicated, sometimes fatally.
Other hazards include predation by birds of prey, infestation by parasites and collisions with cars or windows. The Bohemian waxwing's high numbers and very large breeding area mean that it is classified as being of least concern by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

beautiful birds- the Wood duck
The wood duck or Carolina duck (Aix sponsa) is a species of perching duck found in North America. The drake wood duck is one of the most colorful North American waterfow
The birds are year-round residents in parts of its southern range, but the northern populations migrate south for the winter.[9][10] They overwinter in the southern United States near the Atlantic Coast.
75% of the wood ducks in the Pacific Flyway are non-migratory.
[10] Due to their attractive plumage, they are also popular in waterfowl collections and as such are frequently recorded in Great Britain as escapees—populations have become temporarily established in Surrey in the past, but are not considered to be self-sustaining in the fashion of the closely related mandarin duck.
[citation needed] Along with the mandarin duck, the wood duck is considered an invasive species in England and Wales, and it is illegal to release them into the wild.
[11] Given its native distribution, the species is also a potential natural vagrant to Western Europe and there have been records in areas such as Cornwall, Scotland and the Isles of Scilly, which some observers consider may relate to wild birds; however, given the wood duck's popularity in captivity, it would be extremely difficult to prove their provenance.[citation needed] There is a small feral population in Dublin.
The population of the wood duck was in serious decline in the late 19th century as a result of severe habitat loss and market hunting both for meat and plumage for the ladies' hat market in Europe. By the beginning of the 20th century, wood ducks had virtually disappeared from much of their former range. In response to the Migratory Bird Treaty established in 1916 and enactment of the U.S. Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918, wood duck populations began to recover slowly. By ending unregulated hunting and taking measures to protect remaining habitat, wood duck populations began to rebound in the 1920s. The development of the artificial nesting box in the 1930s gave an additional boost to wood duck production.[12] More information on the efficacy of nest boxes can be found in the Conservation Evidence webpage.[13]
Landowners as well as park and refuge managers can encourage wood ducks by building wood duck nest boxes near lakes, ponds, and streams. Fulda, Minnesota has adopted the wood duck as an unofficial mascot, and a large number of nest boxes can be found in the area.[citation needed]
Expanding North American beaver populations throughout the wood duck's range have also helped the population rebound as beavers create an ideal forested wetland habitat for wood ducks.[10]
The population of the wood duck has increased a great deal in the last several years.
The increase has been due to the work of many people constructing wood duck boxes and conserving vital habitat for the wood ducks to breed.
During the open waterfowl season, U.S. hunters have only been allowed to take two wood ducks per day in the Atlantic and Mississippi Flyways.
However, for the 2008–2009 season, the limit was raised to three. The wood duck limit remains at two in the Central Flyway and at seven in the Pacific Flyway. It is the second most commonly hunted duck in North America, after the mallard.

animals 4k - seeing a blue jay bird meaning
The blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) is a passerine bird in the family Corvidae, native to eastern North America. It lives in most of the eastern and central United States; some eastern populations may be migratory.
Resident populations are also in Newfoundland, Canada; breeding populations are found across southern Canada. It breeds in both deciduous and coniferous forests, and is common in residential areas.
Its coloration is predominantly blue, with a white chest and underparts, and a blue crest; it has a black, U-shaped collar around its neck and a black border behind the crest.
Males and females are similar in size and plumage, and plumage does not vary throughout the year. Four subspecies have been recognized.
The blue jay feeds mainly on seeds and nuts, such as acorns, which it may hide to eat later;[2] soft fruits; arthropods; and occasionally small vertebrates. It typically gleans food from trees, shrubs, and the ground, and sometimes hawks insects from the air.
Blue jays can be very aggressive to other birds; they sometimes raid nests and have decapitated other birds.[3]
It builds an open cup nest in the branches of a tree; both sexes participate. The clutch may be two to seven eggs, which are blueish or light brown with darker brown spots. Young are altricial, and are brooded by the female for 8–12 days after hatching. They may stay with their parents for one to two months.
The name jay derives from the bird's noisy, garrulous nature and has been applied to other birds of the same family, which are also mostly gregarious.[4] Jays are also called jaybirds.
The blue jay measures 22–30 cm (9–12 in) from bill to tail and weighs 70–100 g (2.5–3.5 oz), with a wingspan of 34–43 cm (13–17 in).[11][12] Consistent with Bergmann's rule, jays from Connecticut averaged 92.4 g (3.26 oz) in mass, while jays from warmer southern Florida averaged 73.7 g (2.60 oz).[13][14] There is a pronounced crest on the head, a crown of feathers, which may be raised or lowered according to the bird's mood. When excited or aggressive, the crest will be fully raised. When frightened, the crest bristles outwards, brushlike. When the bird is feeding among other jays or resting, the crest is flattened on the head.[15]
Its plumage is lavender-blue to mid-blue in the crest, back, wings, and tail, and its face is white. The underside is off-white and the neck is collared with black which extends to the sides of the head. The wing primaries and tail are strongly barred with black, sky-blue, and white. The bill, legs, and eyes are all black. Males and females are almost identical, but the male is slightly larger.[12][16] The black plumage on its nape, face, and throat varies extensively between individuals; it is believed to assist in recognition between individuals.[12]
As with most other blue-hued birds, the blue jay's coloration is not derived from pigments but is the result of light interference due to the internal structure of the feathers;[17] if a blue feather is crushed, the blue disappears because the structure is destroyed. The actual pigment in its feathers is melanin.[11] This is referred to as structural coloration.

animals 4k - the snowy owl 😱
animals 4k - the snowy oy 😱
The snowy owl (Bubo scandiacus), also known as the polar owl, the white owl and the Arctic owl,[4] is a large, white, owl of the true owl family.[5] Snowy owls are native to the Arctic regions of both North America and the Palearctic, breeding mostly on the tundra.[2] It has a number of unique adaptations to its habitat and lifestyle, which are quite distinct from other extant owls.[6] One of the largest species of owl, it is the only owl with largely white plumage.[5] Males tend to be a purer white overall while females tend to more have more extensive flecks of dark brown.[7] Juvenile male snowy owls have dark markings that may appear similar to females until maturity, at which point they typically turn whiter. The composition of brown markings about the wing, although not foolproof, is the most reliable technique to age and sex individual snowy owls.
Most owls sleep during the day and hunt at night, but the snowy owl is often active during the day, especially in the summertime.[6] The snowy owl is both a specialized and generalist hunter. Its breeding efforts and entirely global population are closely tied to the availability of tundra-dwelling lemmings but in the non-breeding season and occasionally during breeding the snowy owl can adapt to almost any available prey, most often other small mammals and northerly water birds (as well as, opportunistically, carrion).[4][7] Snowy owls typically nest on a small rise on the ground of the tundra.[9] The snowy owl lays a very large clutch of eggs, often from about 5 to 11, with the laying and hatching of eggs considerably staggered.[7] Despite the short Arctic summer, the development of the young takes a relatively long time and independence is sought in autumn.[6]
The snowy owl is a nomadic bird, rarely breeding at the same locations or with the same mates on an annual basis and often not breeding at all if prey is unavailable.[7] A largely migratory bird, snowy owls can wander almost anywhere close to the Arctic, sometimes unpredictably irrupting to the south in large numbers.[7][10] Given the difficulty of surveying such an unpredictable bird, there was little in depth knowledge historically about the snowy owl's status. However, recent data suggests the species is declining precipitously.[2][11] Whereas the global population was once estimated at over 200,000 individuals, recent data suggests that there are probably fewer than 100,000 individuals globally and that the number of successful breeding pairs is 28,000 or even considerably less.[2][12] While the causes are not well-understood, numerous, complex environment factors often correlated with global warming are probably at the forefront of the fragility of the snowy owl's existence.
The snowy owl is mostly white. They are purer white than predatory mammals like polar bears (Ursus maritimus) and Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus).[9] Often when seen in the field, these owls can resemble a pale rock or a lump of snow on the ground.[9] It usually appears to lack ear tufts but very short (and probably vestigial) tufts can be erected in some situations, perhaps most frequently by the female when she is sitting on the nest.[5] The ear tufts measure about 20 to 25 mm (0.79 to 0.98 in) and consist of about 10 small feathers.[6] The snowy owl has bright yellow eyes.[7] The head is relatively small and, even for the relatively simply adapted hearing mechanism of a Bubo owl, the facial disc is shallow and the ear is uncomplicated.[5][6] 1 male had ear slits of merely 21 mm × 14 mm (0.83 in × 0.55 in) on left and 21 mm × 14.5 mm (0.83 in × 0.57 in) on the right.[6] Females are almost invariably more duskily patterned than like-age males.[5][7] In mature males, the upper parts are plain white with usually a few dark spots on the miniature ear-tufts, about the head and the tips of some primaries and secondaries whilst the underside is often pure white.[5] Despite their reputation for being purely white, only 3 out of 129 Russian museum specimens of adult males showed an almost complete absence of darker spots. The adult female is usually considerably more spotted and often slightly barred with dark brown on the crown and the underparts. Her flight and tail feathers are faintly barred brown while the underparts are white in base color with brown spotting and barring on the flanks and upper breast.[5] In confusingly plumaged snowy owls, the sex can be determined by the shape of wing markings, which manifest as bars more so in females and spots in males.[4][34] However, the very darkest males and the lightest females are nearly indistinguishable by plumage.[4] On rare occasion, a female can appear almost pure white, as has been recorded in both the field and in captivity.[35] There is some evidence that some of the species grow paler with age after maturity.[7][36] One study's conclusions were that males were usually but not always lighter and that correctly aging is extremely difficult, sometimes individuals either get lighter, darker or do not change their appearance with age.[35] On the other hand, with close study, it is possible to visually identify even individual snowy owls using the pattern of markings on the wing, which can be somewhat unique in each individual.[37] After a fresh moult, some adult females that previously appeared relatively pale newly evidenced dark, heavy markings. On the contrary, some banded individuals over at least four years were observed to have been almost entirely unchanged in the extent of their markings.[4][7] In another very pale owl, the barn owl (Tyto alba), the sexual dimorphism of spotting appears to be driven by genetics while, in snowy owls, environment may be the dictating factor instead.

The most beautiful bird in the world is the flamingo
The most beautiful bird in the world is the flamingo
For other uses, see Flamingo (disambiguation).
"Pink flamingo" redirects here. For the film, see Pink Flamingos. For the lawn ornament, see Plastic flamingo.
Flamingos or flamingoes[a] /fləˈmɪŋɡoʊz/ are a type of wading bird in the family Phoenicopteridae, which is the only extant family in the order Phoenicopteriformes. There are four flamingo species distributed throughout the Americas (including the Caribbean), and two species native to Afro-Eurasia.
Flamingos usually stand on one leg with the other tucked beneath the body. The reason for this behaviour is not fully understood. One theory is that standing on one leg allows the birds to conserve more body heat, given that they spend a significant amount of time wading in cold water.[23] However, the behaviour also takes place in warm water and is also observed in birds that do not typically stand in water. An alternative theory is that standing on one leg reduces the energy expenditure for producing muscular effort to stand and balance on one leg. A study on cadavers showed that the one-legged pose could be held without any muscle activity, while living flamingos demonstrate substantially less body sway in a one-legged posture.[24] As well as standing in the water, flamingos may stamp their webbed feet in the mud to stir up food from the bottom.[25]
Flamingos are capable flyers, and flamingos in captivity often require wing clipping to prevent escape. A pair of African flamingos which had not yet had their wings clipped escaped from the Wichita, Kansas, zoo in 2005. One was spotted in Texas 14 years later. It had been seen previously by birders in Texas, Wisconsin and Louisiana.[26]
Young flamingos hatch with grayish-red plumage, but adults range from light pink to bright red due to aqueous bacteria and beta-carotene obtained from their food supply. A well-fed, healthy flamingo is more vibrantly colored, thus a more desirable mate; a white or pale flamingo, however, is usually unhealthy or malnourished. Captive flamingos are a notable exception; they may turn a pale pink if they are not fed carotene at levels comparable to the wild.[27]
The greater flamingo is the tallest of the six different species of flamingos, standing at 3.9 to 4.7 feet (1.2 to 1.4 m) with a weight up to 7.7 pounds (3.5 kg), and the shortest flamingo species (the lesser) has a height of 2.6 feet (0.8 m) and weighs 5.5 pounds (2.5 kg). Flamingos can have a wingspan as small as 37 inches (94 cm) to as big as 59 inches (150 cm).[28]
Flamingos can open their bills by raising the upper jaw as well as by dropping the lower. [29]

ferocious animals - ferocious tiger 4k video
The tiger ( Panthera tigris ) is a species of carnivorous mammal in the Felidae family ( Felidae ) of the genus Panthera . Easily recognizable by its black-striped red fur, it is the largest wild cat and one of the largest terrestrial carnivores. The species is divided into nine subspecies with minor differences in size or behavior. Superpredator , it mainly hunts deer and wild boar, although it may prey on larger prey such as buffaloes . Until the 19th century , the tiger was reputed to be a man-eater . The social structure of tigers makes them a solitary animal; the male has a territory that encompasses the domains of several females and does not participate in raising the young.
The tiger is found throughout Asia , although its range has been greatly reduced since the beginning of the 20th century . The species is considered endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and is protected in all countries where it lives. Hunted until the middle of the 20th century, tiger populations have declined sharply, dropping from an estimated number of 100,000 individuals in 1900 to around 3,500 tigers, the majority of which live in India . The reduction of its habitat and poaching to supply traditional Chinese medicineare the main threats to the species.
“ King of beasts ” and Chinese zodiac sign , the tiger is also very present in Hindu mythology , where it is the mount of Durga . An emblematic figure representing strength and ferocity, this feline is depicted in many paintings , and has appeared in many musical and literary works : Shere Khan from Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book or Hobbes in the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip .
The tiger is the largest feline. It is also one of the largest predators on land, behind the kodiak bear and the polar bear . Its body is longer than that of the lion. The measurements of the tiger vary greatly from one subspecies to another: a male Sumatran tiger weighs no more than 140 kg for 2.3 meters in total length, while a Siberian tiger can reach 300 kg for 3.3 meters long [ 1 ] . The height at the withers of the tiger varies from 0.85 to one meter; its total length with the tail, from 2 to 3.7 meters, and its mass, from 65 to 300 kg [ 2 ]. The mass record is held by a Siberian tiger shot in 1950, which weighed 384 kg [ 3 ] .
The tiger's ears are rounded; their outer face is black with a large white spot in the middle [ 4 ] (this allows the young to spot and therefore follow their mother in the jungle). The pupils are round, the iris is golden to green in color, blue for the white tiger ( leucic form ). The nose is pink, with sometimes black spots; vibrissae are abundant on a short muzzle. The forehead is domed. The neck is covered with much denser and thicker fur forming a ruff, especially in the male. The caninesof the tiger are the longest of all current felines: they can reach nine centimeters. As in all members of the genus Panthera , the hyoid bone is partially ossified, allowing it to roar , a roar that carries up to 1 km [ 5 ] . Its claws can be up to 10 cm long [ 6 ] and are retractable.

Great Dane puppy flawlessly imitates a hopping bunny
Great Dane puppy flawlessly imitates a hopping bunny
Raven is Great Dane puppy who is living her best life and loving every minute of it. She has free run of several acres at home, with trees and fields to explore. She runs free in the nearby forest almost daily, enjoying long hikes with her owners. She sleeps by the fire in the evening and sprawls across a king size bed at night.
But one of Raven's absolute favourite things to do is to go to the cottage and explore the wilderness, smelling deer, moose, and chipmunks. She wants to befriend all of the forest animals and her tail wags excitedly when she catches the scent of what could be a new friend. Raven is hot on the trail of a very wild chipmunk and it is likely that the chippy has never seen a dog before. Wanting no part of such a huge predator, the chipmunk scurried through the undergrowth, rustling loudly as it went. Raven leaps and bounds, barely able to contain herself as she tries to catch up.
Raven is like a big child who loves the adventure that each new day brings. This particular trail leads from the lakeshore at the family cottage, deep into the woods in an area where people seldom wander. The scents and sights of this forested paradise are enough to keep a Great Dane happy for hours. When Raven's family stopped for a picnic on this day, she knew that they had also brought a little treat for her as well. She wolfed down an egg sandwich and some kibble before they made the long journey back to the lake. When they arrived, Raven headed straight for her oversized stuffed bed in front of the fire. She snored happily for a few hours until bedtime. As she dreamed, her legs twitched and she looked as if she was chasing chipmunks in her dreams.
