Gorilla Lope Tucking Into A Tree
Gorilla Lope is enjoying the bark of this huge tree trunk . He's balancing the log in his hands and scrapes off the bark with his teeth. He decides to move and walks of upright carrying the tree trunk. When he gets to the door, I was half expecting him to have the log horizontal and not fit through it, but not Lope, he isn't stupid, he moved it in front of him and got through the door without any problem. There he sat down and carried on eating the bark. Shufai comes to check it out, but when he tries to come too close Lope is quick to respond and shoos his brother off. Shufai made do with the little stick.

Screams From Lope Amidst A Tree Branch Battle
Shufai has got a nice big tree branch that he starts to nibble on. It's not too long until Ozala wants a piece off it as well and and tries to grab some. Shufai is quick of the block and runs away with it. Ozala found another stick and is happy for a while. Shufai on the other site can't get a minute to enjoy his tree branch as Lope is now chasing after him as soon as he sat down. Shufai manages to get away at first, but when they're both back on the ground , Lope gets hold of his tree branch. Not for long, as suddenly Ozala comes chasing after Lope. He drops the branch and Ozala takes it away, but Lope follows. His mum is having none of it and and quickly turns towards him, chases him until Lope starts screaming. Oumbi on the other site had a quick look to see if he needs to intervene , but decided against it. Just too much afford. Just let Ozala deal with it.

Gorilla Asante Needs A Toothpick
Asante is sitting on the bunk bed with her toes spread apart. Later she comes over to me and shows her tongue and teeth to me. She only moves when Oumbi comes closer in the background. When she's sitting at the wall, she seemed to have something stuck between her teeth. You just want to give her a toothpick.

Long Video Of Clips Of The Twycross Gorillas
Wishing everybody a great Christmas week! Thank you for watching! As an early Christmas present from me, I’ve done two long videos for Monday and Friday, the usual Twycross zoo gorilla days.
This one is more than eight minutes long and mostly from clips from the day. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it to the end. Shufai has a little chest beat in front of the window. I looked away for one minute and Ozala suddenly takes Shufai and she runs like a lightning strike :-) I think that they got spooked by a phone going off in the staff-room, not audible as I changed the sound of the video. Lope sitting quietly in the corner having some breakfast before little Shufai starts chasing him. Ozala is getting hungry as well and sweeps up all the branches and puts them by her side. Shufai has some leaves as well. He starts moving as Oumbi is approaching. Lope is munching on some more leaves. When the brothers venture outside in the cold, they notice the morning frost on the wooden planks and we know how much they love scraping it together and eating it. Shufai goes inside when Lope emerges. I really hope this year we get some snow and not just a dusting. I think the gorillas and also the other apes would love it. Lope is holding on tight as he tries not to slip on the ice. When he gets down to the grass, he finds a toy and a bottle with frost on it and takes it inside, walking off the Lope way. Biddy is coming out into the winter sunshine and Lope pretends to be his dad, with his arched back. The youngster throws the stick away, punches the door flap, while Biddy has a rest in one of her favourite spots.

Afia the Western Lowland Gorilla is on top of the climbing frame, while her half sister Ayana is playing with a log and running after dad. Suddenly Afia comes rolling in. She continues to roll and play in front of Jock the Silverback. Ayana and Afia have a little tussle when dad just quickly moves his hand towards them. Ayana then tries to climb on her big sisters back when suddenly another female Gorilla came running in and wanting to get involved. Dad Jock was having none of it and pushed her away. The staff did tell me Jock was a very good dad, always looking out for the two girls.

This is a female Eastern lowland gorilla named Amahoro from the Antwerp Zoo. She was born in 1990 and came to Antwerp Zoo in 1994. Amahoro seems to love her turnips. She picks the vegetable up with each of her feet walks with them, puts one in her mouth and as many as she can carry with her hands. You can see Matadi eating in the back. She glances a few time at him, like she's checking if he notices that she is taking all the turnips. She's taking them to a platform and enjoys her meal.

Meerkats fascinated by gorilla fight, try to get involved
It's like the meerkats are watching a WWE match, they look that excited and intrigued. This is a mixed enclosure for the Gorillas, at the Artis Zoo in the Netherlands. The gorillas and Meerkats live together, they've also got some Diana Monkeys, but I only spotted them in the corner of my eye high above.
The gorillas decided they have a chase and a squabble and the meerkats are watching it all with interest. Even though they nearly get run over by the western lowland gorillas, they're coming back to watch some more and edging forward slowly. They don't seem to want to miss anything. When the gorillas decide they have a chase, the meerkats start to jump up and down like crazy like they want to get a better view of what is happening next and where the western lowland gorillas are. The nimble meerkats quickly jump out of the way when the primates come back round and continue to watch them.
I know some worry about the meerkats being together with the gorillas that they might get hurt. The meerkats seem to know what they letting themselves in for. Meaning they aren't hiding away in their own dens or spaces, which they have. They actively spent time close to the gorillas. They're so nimble that they can can quickly move out of the way.

Young Gorilla Plays With A Big Ball
The keepers of the Twycross Zoo worked hard to get a huge ball into the gorilla's outdoor enclosure. They lifted it over the glass wall, lowered the ball and then dragged it up the slope. Then they put honey on the ball and did all the other usual daily activities to hide food around the enclosure. The silverback gorilla Oumbi is watching from the window as a keeper pushes some food bits into the hole of the ball.
When he comes outside instead of heading for the ball, he leads for some salad instead. When Lope comes out, he already has some mixture, and he squeezes to the wall as much as he can, so not to go near the ball. He licks the honey of the windowsill, then has a quick look at the ball, but avoids it. Later when he comes back, he looks at the ball again, like it's alien and then just jabs it. The western lowland gorilla gets a bit closer to look into the hole, but still just pokes it.
When he does it a third time, it makes him jump out of the way, and he just looks at it like what is this thing?! Even though he should have got used to it by now as they had it in the inside a while back, but he did avoid it then as well. For the rest of the day, he just avoided it altogether and was just happy with the salad.
Who else thinks that this video is absolutely adorable? Lope is so curious & brave. No one else wanted anything to do with the ball but Lope. Even Oumbi didn't care. This is probably our favorite gorilla family. They are so cute, so smart, and they always put a smile on our faces.
We loved the way Lope curiously looks at the ball and waits to see if it is going to come back at him, and we love seeing more videos of him playing with the ball, and eating lettuce. The more we learn about <a href="https://rumble.com/v4gkct-when-gorillas-use-teamwork-doubled-down-on-us.html" target="_blank">gorillas</a>, the more impressed we are.
This is extraordinarily interesting to see Lope exercise critical thinking and reasoning between his curiosity to examine this new "object" within his home and his personal need to remain safe. These great beings never fail to amaze! We are sending them 1000 hugs and kisses as they are precious family and we love them!

Gorilla youngster astonishingly dodges electric fence
This gorilla youngster is just amazing. He managed to get through the other side of the electric fence that separates the window and their enclosure just to say hello to the visitors. He moves further down between the fence and the window and starts to contemplate how to get back to the other side of the electric fence to the rest of the group.
First he smells the fence careful so he won't touch it with his nose. Now watch him closely, it's just amazing and funny at the same time. He tries to judge the electric fence gap by rocking on his feet and judging with his hands. Rooting for him to make it through to the other site without him getting zapped. Another gorilla comes over to have a look. Wonder what he's thinking.
Not feeling to comfortable with getting through the wire gaps, he moves on to another part of the fence and tries again by sticking his arm through the wire gap - judging again. And then relief, happiness, he's done it! He did it like a pro without touching the wire. What a star!

Scraping the frozen snow off the wooden platform, Lope the gorilla just loves his frozen snow. When Ozala and his baby brother come up to the platform, he isn't happy. He's just not in the mood for sharing! He beats his chest repeatedly at mum brother Shufai. When that doesn't help, he runs at his baby brother and tries pulling him off the platform. Schufai runs screaming to their mom. The two enjoy the winter ice that the cold weather brought. When Lope approaches again, Ozala defends her youngest by letting Lope know to stay away.

Gorilla tries to figure out how to drink from bottle
The zoo staff threw lots of different bottles filled with juice over the wall into the habitat for the gorilla family to drink. Lope grabbed one of the bottles and is trying to open it with its teeth. First on the site and then he has a go at the lid, but he doesn’t notice that most of is leaking out now. He then grabs some food that was scattered on the grass earlier and walks to a shadier place. There he found a new bottle and has another go at it, but the same happens again.
You can see the juice squirting out of the bottom of the bottle. Lope is not someone that gives up and tries again, third time lucky, with the orange bottle. He gives it his all, holding the bottle with his feet and hands and trying to turn the lid again and hey presto he manages to open it properly this time. He drinks out of the bottle like a pro and again does his human swagger and parades the bottles through the enclosure.

Silverback Gorilla breaks up vicious fight between females
The Silverback western lowland gorilla from the Twycross Zoo is flexing his muscles when he charges over to break up the fighting females.
It is quite terrifying to see how powerful the male is and to hear all the screams from the two female gorillas. Lope the eldest son is being his usual self and has a go at Biddy his grandma. Grandma is having none of it this time and pushes Lope away. Ozala that sits beside her sees this and has a go at her mother for having a go at Lope. The watchful eye of the Silverback gorilla Oumbi reacts in an instant, the way a Silverback should and launches himself towards the females, trying to break up the fight between Ozala and Biddy. Little Shufai runs towards the two females the same time Oumbi was moving. He first clung on to Biddi and then when mum emerged he clung on to her back, and was holding on right through the middle of it all. Biddy then got pushed out of the door by Oumbi, and then Oumbi has a go at Ozala.
Lope did not get involved at first, he just looked at them, seemingly in shock that he might of caused the fight, but then he did get involved and he went for dad, grabbing his backside. When Oumbi let go and run away, Lope still had a hold of his back. A very noisy Ozala had go at Oumbi, while Oumbi did a few more laps running around until he went into the back to calm down. Biddy came back in from the back entrance. When Oumbi came out from the back again, he went into the corner, still quite agitated looking. Asante comes down from her top bunk, obviously witnessing it all from above. A little later when Oumbi comes out from the back, Lope makes way and you can see Ozala in the back with Shufai . She’s giving Oumbi the evil eye and everybody is staying well clear of the silverback. The most sorry you feel for the baby gorilla Shufai, putting himself in the middle of it all. Oumbi did a great job in breaking up the female fight.Even though Ozala started the fight by overreacting they seem to blame the Silverback. Everything was fine afterwards, no one got physically hurt, only their pride.

Gorilla Tries To Figure Out How To Wear T-Shirt
A female gorilla found a t-shirt but is not sure what to do with it! It is adorable to watch her scurry around, flinging the fabric about, trying to make sense of it all. In the beginning, we see our distant relative shake out the shirt as if she is preparing it for laundry. It is easy to see where our instincts come from!
Gorillas are a human beings’ second closest relative behind the chimpanzee. There has been extensive research done to compare our similarities and differences to establish where we came from and how we have come to be. Despite there being a plethora of theories, as extravagant as we are a result of psychedelic consumption unlocking and enlightening the ape mind, we have yet to come to a general conclusion. We know that we evolved from these past family members, but exactly how remains a mystery.
Of our genetic code, 98.7% is the same among humans and gorillas. Like us, the family structure is crucial to maintain the emotional bond between beings. Aside from our hands, noses and facial structure similarities, gorillas also endure body odor and the same five sense which ground us to this earth. They communicate in an outstanding manner, between their own species and even our own. There have been numerous accounts of emotional bonds between humans and apes. Remember King Kong? Despite his barbaric size and strength, he had a soft side a created a very strong emotional bond, some would call love, towards an unexacting young woman. The connection they shared was outstanding yet not unique. Many researchers have noted the emotional depth of these animals in their studies. Most notably is Jane Goodall who is known to have exemplified how gorillas and apes use tools in their societies.
Jane Goodall is a writer and scientist who has spent years of her life among chimps. She studies them, lives with them and incorporates herself as one of their society. Even more, their family. She studies them in their natural habitat so that we may know more about the wondrous they have to offer.
Despite our similarities, the gorilla’s greatest living predator is us, the humans. The threat to gorilla life has increased over the last several years, much as our impact on almost every other species on earth. Gorillas are currently being hunted and poached for their meat in many parts of the world which has increased the spread of disease such as Ebola. Gorillas are also suffering because their homes are being taken away due to logging and mining industries.
All over our world where <a href="https://rumble.com/v3f82s-gorilla-meets-man.html" target="_blank">gorillas</a> inhabit, they are under threat due to deforestation and habitat loss. The gorilla in this video is clearly in captivity at a zoo where the habitat conditions have been mimicked to try to emulate their natural lives. As gorillas may soon go extinct in central Africa, a zoo may soon be the only place to view these mysterious creatures. That is until Planet of the <a href="https://rumble.com/v328g0-ape-shows-off.html" target="_blank">Apes</a> happens. Or are we only dreaming?

Grumpy Silverback Gorilla deals with super annoying son
Oumbi is having a rest - well he is trying to - under the pavilion and making himself comfortable while Lope is being silly on the other side of the wall. Strutting his stuff, his face covered in wood wool. He does a little twist and beats his chest and then he goes to work on being the most annoying son he can be. He looks around the corner and stares at dad who tries hard to ignore him.
Lope beats his chest again and bangs on the wall where his dad is leaning against. The second time he does it, Oumbi hits back at the wall as to say keep it down boy. Lope doesn't give up easily, so he does it again and again. When Lope does his spins and it gone quite Oumbi hits the wall with his fist, like he almost missed Lopes annoying antics. Look at Lope after his spins, he's just resting his head casually on his head lying down. Looking in dads direction and off he goes again. Than he tries a different method coming running from the other site.
Oumbi beats his chest. The second time Lope comes round the other site is just so funny, he just pokes his head around the wall slowly and then the rascal throws a stick at dad and beats his chest! We would just love to know what Oumbi is thinking. Looking at his face now, he's starting to get more annoyed and waiting for his sons next move!

Silverback gorilla shows off his daily workout routine
Oumbi the male gorilla from the Twycross Zoo is the most active just before lunchtime. Like everybody else, he's getting all excited for the food. They are waiting for the doors to close so the keepers can scatter the food outside. Apart from a few outburst that he has to keep his family in check, he is quite happy being mostly just sitting, eating, relaxing and sleeping, which does make you wonder how he gets all those muscles. Well now you'll find out.
He's doing his daily routine of pull-ups! Just look how he manages to do them with so much ease! When he does his first pull up you’ll see his mate Ozala in the background running with baby Shufai. After he had his pull-ups he’s running through the enclosure to let everybody know he’s the boss and everybody moves quickly out of his way. Asante is resting up the top and you can see Oumbi having a little dig at her. He continues with some more gym exercise, before he has another go at the others.
Oumbi is normally the first one out after lunch, that is if Lope his cheeky son doesn’t get there first! Than it’s Ozala with baby Shufai. Asante the aunt and grandma Bidi are always the last ones to go out and giving all the others the chance of feeding first, until they are getting there share.

Gorilla Youngster Tries To Pull Out Loose Baby Tooth
Biting into an apple is the more common way of getting rid of a loose tooth, but that was evidently too boring for this cheeky mammal. Hilarious footage has emerged of a gorilla youngster vigorously trying to pull out an annoying loose baby tooth.
It looks like Lope is going to get a visit from the tooth fairy! The gorilla youngster from the Twycross Zoo in England manages to lose one of his baby teeth while wrestling with his mom, and eventually pulls out the loose tooth on his own. The tenacious gorilla is seen struggling with the tooth, but in the end manages to pull out the annoying loose tooth with flying colors, proving that he doesn’t need a dentist. Amazing!
<a href="https://rumble.com/v4u7wp-wrestling-mania-between-gorilla-youngster-lope-and-grandma.html" target="_blank">Lope</a>, the gorilla youngster from Twycross zoo in England is known for mimicking the human walk, wrestling with the members of his pride, and now even for playing the role of the family doctor. He makes everybody laugh with his swagger and definitely is the coolest kid on the block! In this clip, the five-year-old is seen struggling to pull out a loose tooth with the help of his hands, much to onlookers’ amusement. When he had enough of the annoying loose tooth for the day, he started wrestling with the other gorillas in his zoo enclosure as if nothing has happened! Talk about keeping it cool!
In another heartwarming video, starring Lope, we see this <a href="https://rumble.com/v5c3qr-gorilla-youngster-cant-get-enough-of-his-huge-popsicle.html" target="_blank">gorilla youngster feasting on a giant piece of popsicle</a>. The weather is heating up and the Lope is after some cold flavored fruit ice, in this case a huge popsicle that is hanging from the climbing frame in his habitat. Just look at him munching on a giant piece of popsicle with delight! Maybe that’s what gave him the loose tooth in the first place!
Lope the gorilla from the Twycross Zoo in Atherstone, England is having so much fun on a daily basis. He enjoys playing in the hay, throwing it all over himself, wiggling about. He likes playing hide and seek with the other members of his tribe, but most of all he appreciates good food.
Who would have thought that gorillas can be hooked on goodies and declare popsicle as their favorite snack. It is not that surprising given this cool treat is scrumptious, smooth and makes everything much better. The great thing about ice cream popsicle is that we can eat it every season since it cools us down in the summer heat, but also makes the winter cold much more bearable!
The gorilla family at Twycross consists of 6 members. Oumbi the big male silverback, Ozala the mum of Lope and Shufai. Grandma Bidi and Asante. In 2009 Oumbi joined Twycross zoo to mate with the females. Ozala was Oumbi chosen mate. Lope - was born on the morning of 3 January 2013. Shufai was born on the 24th of September 2016.
Talking about loose teeth, in the past few years we see parents thinking outside the box when their children’s baby teeth start to wiggle, and coming up with new, fun ways of pulling out loose teeth. From using a remote-controlled toy car to pull that stubborn loose tooth out, to <a href="https://rumble.com/v3dlc3-dad-pulls-sons-loose-tooth-out-using-a-helicopter.html" target="_blank">attaching a string to a helicopter and flying it high</a>!
Pulling out your loose old baby teeth can be a little scary for young children. So why not make the experience a little easier on them by making the process fun and exciting? Over the years, we have seen a number of different attempts at <a href="https://rumble.com/v4ltvm-adorable-little-girl-pulls-loose-tooth-out-with-rc-car.html" target="_blank">removing loose teeth from kids' mouths</a>. Generally speaking, these attempts successful or not are made with purposeful intention. It is rare that we see one that is accidental unless it features someone getting a bit hurt.
This latest video features a girl with two small birds on her shoulders. The birds for some reason are pecking at the girl's teeth. We guess they are cleaning her teeth, but we don't really know. One of the birds manages to remove one of the girl's teeth. We assume it was loose already. However, this bird is certainly down with his <a href="https://rumble.com/v4gcbn-bird-grooming-her-owner-steals-a-loose-tooth.html" target="_blank">bloody new treat</a>.
