In this video we head out to Arlington Cemetery where we will take you to see J.F.K.'s grave site. After that we will take you with us to the changing of the guard. This is a must-see attraction while in D.C. We will go over all the fun facts about this ceremony in this video. Once we are finished doing that we will try and find our way to the Civil War Memorial and Robert E. Lee's house. After showing you around Arlington Cemetery we get caught in a thunderstorm and have to run in the rain to catch the metro. After spending way too much time learning how to use the metro here in D.C. because the metro maps do not have a key on them to tell you how it works, we figured it out ourselves. After getting out of our soaking wet clothes and showering we head back out on the town to take you with us to the best Georgian restaurant in Washington D.C. This restaurant ranks probably in our top five we have ever eaten at in our lives. By far the best place we had the pleasure of getting to try in our short time in our nation's capital. In this video you will come with us on a tour of the Library of Congress. This Library has amazing architect to go along with all of the neat exhibits that it has on display. They also have one of three copies on the Gutenberg bible on display from the 15th century. Then we will take you with us over to the Museum of the Bible. There are a lot of really cool exhibits in this museum also. We got to touch a stone from the temple mount which is considered one of the holiest sites in the world. They have the first copy ever printed of the King James Bible. There are too many things to go over you will just have to watch the video to see what all the Museum of the bible has in store. After leaving the Museum of the Bible it was time to grab some lunch. So, come with us as we will show you a place called Reren lamen and bar that has the best lamen we have ever eaten. We took a trip to Washington D.C. and while we were there the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. This made us a little worried about the possibility of people protesting and then it turning into a riot. Luckly for us when we got to the Supreme Court what the local news made out to be a huge deal was just a few people screaming at each other. Do you know what a BUC-EE'S is? Michael did not. We are going to go to the world-famous Buc-ee's in this video. So, come with us as we show you this over-the-top gas station with over 100 gas pumps. If you think 100 gas pumps at one gas station is crazy, then this place is 100% over the top and a little bit more if you ask us. Wait until you see everything, they have inside of this place that is a gas station larger than a football field. This place carries every and anything you could ever want or need while on the road and traveling. I mean even down to hunting gear in case you need to hunt for your own food on your road trip. While on the highway full of fast-food goodness. After typing that out I might have just understood why I might want hunting gear while traveling the highways. After re-fueling the car and our bellies with the BBQ and fruit at Buc-ee's which both tasted amazeballs. Now we hit the road again to head home where we stop into a place called Krystal Burgers. In the video we take you down to the garden district once again to take you on the famous houses tour in the historical area where all the rich and famous people are able to buy houses. We found there are many cameras and no poor people to be found in this area. New Orleans has had the highest population of homeless people we have seen with our own eyes while traveling. However, all you have to do is come to this area and it all disappears. Being we do not know the people that live in this area they must just keep an out of sight out of mind mindset to all the homeless people in this city about ten minutes away from their posh lifestyle not to mention the 9th ward or even the French quarter. It is mind boggling to see how close the ultra-wealthy is living to people that poop on the street in this city. It is sick to see firsthand. With that out of the way the area does have a lot of very cool history to see. We will take you to all of the houses from the past. In this video we head back down to the Garden District to eat at Superior Grill. We finally get to try New Orleans' world-famous charbroiled oysters. Though everything we had here was great the oysters just tasted like any other oyster cooked in garlic butter. Did not see the big hype with these. Maybe we need to try them from somewhere else. Now the crawfish mac & cheese it was over the top good. Michael was the only one that tried the snails and as always, he loved them. After grabbing a bite to eat we head down to Magazine St to do a little sight-seeing and shopping. As always when we go on a trip Laura's feet get banged up and now, she wants a pair of tennis shoes. The first store we went to might have been a little out of our price range with about $100 a pair being the cheaper of what we saw. However, they did have a St. Post Malone scented candle, lol. Then we ended up at Buffalo Exchange where Laura scored a sweet pair of classic Rebooks for $27.99 which is way better than $100+. This will bring this video to an end as we are heading over to the Historic area of New Orleans to go on the Famous house tour in our next video. We start off in this video showing you the oldest bar in New Orleans "LAFITTE'S BLACKSMITH SHOP BAR" this place was not what I thought it would be. I assumed before seeing it person it would be a blacksmith themed bar. It 100% was not that at all. The Famous Purple drink also was a letdown. It just a super sweet frozen drink. If you are into super sweet frozen drinks this is the one for you. Now the cherries on the other hand will knock your socks off. Be careful with those guys. Next, we head over to the Lalaurie Mansion. This building is a neoclassical 1800s building with an infamously gory past, a common stop on city ghost tours. This house at 1140 Royal Street in New Orleans looks elegant on the outside. But the story of LaLaurie Mansion — so named for its mistress, Madame Marie Delphine LaLaurie — is one of torture and death. Way back in the 1830s, Delphine LaLaurie mercilessly tortured the people she enslaved. She restrained them, mutilated them, and subjected them to sick experiments. If it was not for a slave chain up in her kitchen that set a fire trying to end her own life, there is no telling how long this would have gone on. After leaving this hunted house of horrors we head over the Rampart Treehouse to grab a slice of pizza and beer for happy hour. Three of us liked this place and one of us did not. In this video we start off at the world-famous Court of Two Sisters for a very nice brunch. The food was just as good as the staff. We don't just mean our server every worker seems to check on any table they see needs something. I would find it hard to not have a good experience here unless it was just your fault, lol. Laura said, "In my top three buffets ever". We both agree that the river boat casino on the Mississippi is the best buffet we have ever had. It is called "Ameristar Casino Hotel Vicksburg". We just disagree on our second favorite Buffet. Michael thinks the Sterling Brunch at Bally's Las Vegas was the second best. Unfortunately, it is Permanently closed now. Laura thinks the buffet at the MGM is the second-best buffet we have ever ate. We will have to agree to disagree on this one. The leaves us both agreeing that the Court of the Two Sisters comes in a very close third place for both of us. After leaving the Court of the Two Sisters we head over to Hotel Monteleone. We tried to go here the other day but, there was a very long wait to sit at the Carousel bar which is what we wanted to do. This time we walked Stright up to the bar and sat down. The bartender told us that is rare to have happen. Oddly enough there was open seats all most the whole time we were there. So, after sitting down Laura ordered the Pimm's cup which is a famous drink in London created by James Pimm in the 19th-century, and Michael ordered the Vieux Carré which is the Carousel Bar's most famous cocktail. It was created in 1938 by Walter Bergeron when he was the hotel's head bartender. Now that we finally got to sit at the bar it is time to meet back up with Michael and Millissa to tour the Sazerac House which is a distillery on Canal St. in the French quarter. The is a really awesome tour as it is more of a history tour with a few samples. If you are looking for a drinking tour this one is not that. Though we just got to New Orleans we have another side quest to complete first. Laura has a sister that she has not seen in person in "24" years. So, we are heading north for the day to see the city and have some dinner with her sister later. We showed up on an odd day as the city was shut down for some reason. Also, the politicians were in session for Roe v Wade. It was kind of odd as it seemed the city was empty. We might have seen 100 people max walking around the entire city. It felt empty to us however, they were shutting streets down and setting up stages for something. It was odd to say the least. It was like they were full force to put a show on for no one. Maybe people showed up after we left. who knows? Either way we had a great time just walking around and seeing the city while we were there. After seeing the city and both Capitol buildings it is time to go meet us with the wife's sister and eat some food that the locals voted on for us to eat at. I was highly impressed with everything I had to eat at this place. Willies had the best Crawfish I have ever had in my life. My Catfish dinner was also really good and a must try just not my favorite fish dish I have ever had. It is ranked high though. It was a lot of fun to watch the wife catch up in person with her sister and to see them not miss a beat and both just chat each other up like it was yesterday the last time they saw each other. Glad to finally meet you, Katie. Maybe this next time you girls don't wait 24 years to see each other in person, lol. After this great dinner and time spent with her sister's family it was time for us to get back on the road and head back to Nola. So, let us tell you a little bit about Bourbon Street. This place is wild!!! Kind of in a good way, and kind of in a what in the world did I just watch happen way. We both agree that Bourbon Street is a 100% a must see at least once in your life type of place. However, we doubt we will ever return here. That is not to say we will never return to the "Big Easy" as we loved the city as a whole. In other videos coming soon we travel out of the French Quater and travel most of the city of New Orleans plus Baton Rouge. We do not want to say too much about Bourbon Street being all bad as it is not. There is a lot of cool things to watch and do here. We fell in love with the Famous Door and the early set that played there RetroPunkzBand check her out on Instagram. A lot of good times to be had there. In this video we get back on the road leaving Montgomery, Alabama heading south towards Mobile, Alabama where we find this little restaurant called Mary's Southern Cooking. This is a must stop and get some of their food. It is 100% smack your momma good. We could not really decide what all we wanted to try so we just ordered a buffet of all of their sides. We have a cooler in the back seat which made our left amazing snacks in-between meal snacks for the week. Then we get back on the highway for the last little leg of our road trip to New Orleans. This is when we find out that the highway just becomes a lot of bridges, and that New Orleans is just one large bridge system. After arriving in New Orleans and checking into our Sonder property we get back in the car to head to the airport to pick our friends Michael and Milissa up. We get back to our apartment to get them settled in and get ready to head out for the night on Bourbon St. In our next video all the travel days are out of the way, and it is time to start living it up in the Big Easy. In the car out the car... let's get on the road together. On this road trip to the south our first stop was at Gary's BBQ in China Grove N.C. This was a really cool looking place, and the food was 8/10 for N.C. BBQ. However, the staff and just style to this place makes it a 10/10 overall. We would give it a Melton's approval. You should eat here at least once maybe twice while in the area. If you live near this area, you should be eating here. Also, Cash is King in small towns in North Carolina. We Southern Folk don't like giving our money to large corps for no good reason. So, make sure you got a few bucks on you when traveling the small towns in the south. After making sure we buckled the Keurig in for "Safety First" we head back out on the road to find people that our more southern than even us. Unfortunately, if you are heading south to anywhere on the east coast of America you most likely will have to drive to through Atlanta. Side Note: Atlanta traffic sucks no matter the day or time you are there. If you can just don't. After getting through Atlanta, it was smooth sailing even crossing the Chattahoochee were It gets hotter than a hoochie coochie. Though I grew up singing these words, I had no idea what they meant. Turns out hoochie is slag for a young woman of the night and coochie can mean a few things I cannot type here. However, when said as hoochie coochie it kind of means stripper/lap dancer. Odd this was a song that was o.k. to sing as a child. Never thought to even look this up until now. The more you know... place a rainbow right here. it's reading rainbow. O.K. back to the real world. We booked, and by we, I mean Laura did some things and I have a place to rest my head for the night. This amazing place with a view of a dumpster. Not even kidding watch the video this is real life. The funny part is this hotel has a view over a pond facing west for sunsets. I am talking small town not a lot of pollution epic color sunsets. That is, if you have a room on the other side we are not staying on. I often wonder how many people did not even care on that side of the hotel? I would have taken that photo I cannot get because I got a room facing the dumpster. No matter our room we got the much needed sleep for the second part of the road trip to make it to Nola. In this video we will show you where to eat and what to do in the garden district of New Orleans. We start off getting on the trolly line to head out of the French Quarter and get to the Garden District. After arriving in the garden district we found that a lot of the places we wanted to eat at where not open. No one could give us a reason why either. It was very strange. No worries though as the place we ended up at was amazing. The Harry's Po Boy was out of this world good. The Word Special was nothing to write off it was just not as good as the Harry's. I really want to come back to this place at some point and have a hamburger now that I know that is what they are known for. If their sandwiches are this good and that is now what they are known for than how good is that burger? After grabbing a bite to eat our wife's have planned our next stop at the house where American Horror story filmed "The Coven" I personally love seeing where things I like where filmed. We have been to many places like this when we were younger that I wish we would have filmed. We have traveled a lot and never thought to film what we did. We might just have to revisit some of the places and bring the kids with us. Valid excuse, right? Now we get back on the trolly and head down to the mighty Mississippi and get on a river boat. Not the type of river boat the wife wanted to get on. however, it was the budget friendly river boat. It was already paid for when we got the trolly passes which also allow you to take the bus. Or, we could have paid $40 a person to be on a boat made to look like a steamboat with probably $8 bottle waters. Now we have to refuel with some sweet treats, so we grab some Beignets at Cafe Beignet on our way to Jackson Square. We are not much on sweets but, these Beignet are pretty good. I would say they are better than a funnel cake or a donut. We really just don't eat sweets like this. At this point we split ways with are travel partners for a few hours before we are going to meet back up at our Sonder to get ready to head out on our ghost tour. We are heading out on the road of adventure again and heading south. Though we live in the south we are literally one state below the Mason Dixon line. We are setting sail to the deep south on this trip. That means leaving our home state of North Carolina and road tripping it through South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Though, we do a lot of side quests on this trip our main goal is the Big Easy A.K.A "NOLA" New Orleans. So, hit the road with us and see were the road takes us. In this video we set out to find a place to get Charbroiled Oysters before we go on a Graveyard ghost tour. Unfortunately, we ran into an issue, and we will move the charbroiled oysters to another day. We ended up instead at a Greek restaurant/Hookah lounge named "Attiki" that was very good but, a tad overpriced for what it was. Their grape leaves had a very distinct flavor from anywhere we had ever had them before. They also served them warm. Never had them warm before. Is this a thing, lol? kind of liked them this way a lot. After grabbing a bite to eat we head out on our haunted graveyard ghost tour. We did not get a lot of ghost stories on this one. It was more of a history of why New Orleans has above ground graves. This also could have been what the tour said it was supposed to be about and the others just told me it was a ghost tour in a graveyard. Again, I was just here to film this trip and planned nothing. Either way we would highly recommend this tour as it was still really cool even though it was not so much about ghost stories as much as the history of New Orleans' way to deal with their dead. Then going to the hurricane Katreena memorial and learning more about what the locals went thorough after that hurricane while in person with someone local that lived through it was really cool to learn in person. We would have filmed a lot more of her talking about all of this if there was any light I was not having to provide and possibly make the others on the tour not have as well of a time as we were having. Also, you should just take the tour yourself and learn all the fun facts we did own your own firsthand instead. In the next video we eat brunch at the court of two sisters, then we will actually show you the Carousel bar at Hotel Monteleone as we got super lucky on our second try and there were many seats open to sit at. The staff said this was very, very rare. It kind of works out as we are doing a drinking tour of the French Quarter in the next video. Get your big boy pants on for this next video. We are going to show you everywhere you need to have at least one drink at while you are in New Orleans in one day. Oh, course spaced out enough we can handle the drinks, lol.
