Batter My Heart: Four Reasons You Can't Hear God
This week's poem is as intense as its author. In this third video in our Poetry and Praise series, we focuses on "Batter My Heart" by John Donne.
You can find the poem in full on The Poetry Foundation's website here: hthttps://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/44106/holy-sonnets-batter-my-heart-three-persond-god
This series uses poetry to start a conversation about how to live a life of holiness and to see God in the world around us.
The goal of this series is to help you discover a new way to find God in the midst of the modern world and to give you a new spring of material for meditation and prayer. Through the beauty of these verses, we can invite God to raise our minds and hearts to Him in a new way and stay connected to the One who made us.
In our next Poetry and Praise video, we'll turn to the Romantics for a walk through nature and let them inspire a greater reflection on God's omnipresent nature.
May God bless you!

Casual Chat on "Quick Fixes" and Choosing More: Physical and Spiritual Healing
This is a casual chat about the importance of addressing the underlying causes keeping you sick, both physically and spiritually.
In this video, I share a little more about some of the struggles I've overcome and some of the struggles we all face and put off dealing with for too long. I also talk about how, although true healing can be a long and painful process, it is the only way to allow your life to become what God wants it to be.
I hope this is helpful to you! If you don't mind the casual nature of this chat, let me know and I'll do more of these from time to time. The next poetry video is coming in a couple days, so stay tuned.
God bless you!

Through the beauty of these verses, we can invite God to raise our minds and hearts to Him in a new way and stay connected to the One who made us.
Next week, we'll be reading and reflecting on one of John Donne's shorter poems. I will share which one on Instagram, once I decide! :)

A Poetry Crash Course before our poetry reflections begin!
Just like artwork, poetry is greatly influenced by the periods in which it is written. Each era of poetry has common themes it shares and important context behind the works that were produced.
In this video, I rapidly review the two main eras of English poetry from which I'll be pulling our first few poems in our Poetry and Praise series. We discuss the Metaphysical and Romantic eras of English poetry, some of their stand-out traits and famous poets, and briefly touch on a poet who we will feature first who lived after these two eras, but fits better within them than in his own era.
We dive in with the poetry next week, starting with "God's Grandeur" by Gerard Manley Hopkins.
My husband and I are excited to bring you these beautiful moments of escape, to enrich your life and to give you things to take with you into your prayer or daily living.
May God be Praised!

Welcome to My New Project! (Plus, what I've been posting on YouTube and why I stopped)
Join my email list: www.catholic-perspective.com.
A Catholic’s Perspective is started as a catechetical blog in 2021, designed to equip the Church Militant with the tools necessary to represent and defend the Church in a world which misrepresents it at every turn.
Today, it is a tool for ministry and evangelization for Catholics with weary hearts and souls, whether due to physical suffering, mental anguish, or emotional hardship. The goal is to help Catholics stay the course and know they are not alone, even when it’s hard.
You can still find videos that cover the first half of the Catechism and blog posts with additional resources on the A Catholic’s Perspective YouTube channel and the blog archives.
I explain my upcoming writing and video initiatives in this blog post: https://catholic-perspective.com/2022/08/11/returning-to-writing-and-whats-ahead.
May God be Praised!
