RIFFpost Revisited: BOSS Mega Distortion MD-2 (with commentary)
This is the first video in a new format I will be doing on the channel moving forward. The idea is to follow up the first "RIFFpost" demo video I did on a single pedal, but this time I am adding commentary throughout the video as I mix a pedal. I guess you can consider this a "follow up" or "part 2", if you will. First up: the BOSS Mega Distortion MD-2.

Chorus Stacking (with Reverb/Delay)
Stacking two chorus pedals, the EHX Small Clone with the BOSS Waza Craft Chorus, with a reverb/delay at the end of the chain (EQD Dispatch Master).
As I stated in the video the order of this chain shouldn't matter, this is just the order I felt like using at the time of recording the video.

RIFFpost: JHS Morning Glory V4
Finally bought me one of these. Expect future videos where I stack this with other OD's, distortion, and fuzz.
The Gain toggle in the "down" position has a blue LED for normal gain. The Gain toggle in the "up" position has a red LED for a higher gain.

BOSS Space Echo + Electro-Harmonix Small Clone
Good combo. Sounds cool getting that chorus layer together with the Space Echo. The Space Echo is a particular kind of pedal that is its own thing, but you can substitute whatever chorus pedal in place of the Small Clone if you have a RE-2.

PART 2: Soft Focus Signal Chain with Overdrive
In this part 2 follow-up I add an overdrive to the beginning of the chain (before the reverb). I am using the EQD Plumes, which is a Tube Screamer clone. I have the overdrive dialed in for more of a higher gain/distortion sound.

EarthQuaker Devices: Dispatch Master + Avalanche Run
Stacking two EarthQuaker Devices reverb/delay pedals with the Dispatch Master and Avalanche Run.
The difference between the two is the Reverb sounds each pedal can produce. The delay controls on each pedal (Time and Repeats) sound like they have the same range from minimum to maximum.

RIFFpost: EarthQuaker Devices Plumes
It's been a while but I'm back with another single pedal demo, this time it's the EarthQuaker Devices Plumes. This is another Tube Screamer circuit clone but an interesting take by EQD. It offers different ranges in the Tone and Drive as well as adds their own "Mode" switch with 3 different clipping modes for more different sounds from boost to overdrive and even distortion.

FX CHAIN: STACKING Overdrive + Fuzz (WAMPLER Tumnus + Electro-Harmonix Op Amp Big Muff Pi)
Another stacking video using the WAMPLER Tumnus overdrive going into the Electro-Harmonix Op Amp Big Muff pi fuzz pedal.
Typically for signal chain order it's recommended to have the fuzz first before all other pedals, but placing the overdrive before the fuzz in this combo sounds much better than having the OD after the fuzz. The overdrive going into the fuzz sounds like a very clean and amazing boost, whereas the overdrive after the fuzz doesn't sound good at all.
This is why I don't usually conform to every single "rule" when it comes to signal chains and it should be left up to you how you want your sound. Yes, there are some DO's and DON'Ts, but overdrive + fuzz placement is one of those things where you can experiment with the order depending on what you're using.

RIFFpost: BOSS Blues Driver Waza Craft BD-2W
Another BOSS pedal that really doesn't need any further explanation as most people know this box. With this Waza Craft version you get an all analog version that has a switch for two modes: "S" (Standard) and "C" (Custom) which adds more sustain and low-end.

FX CHAIN: Digital Delay + Distortion (BOSS Digital Delay DD-8 + BOSS Metal Zone MT-2)
This is an FX CHAIN video I've been meaning to make since I started this channel almost a year ago: delay + distortion. With this combo chords will create huge sounds and solos get added sustain with more atmosphere to cut through a mix. It is one of the classic FX combinations for guitar.
I'm using the BOSS Digital Delay DD-8, which also has an "Analog" mode onboard, so you will get an idea what that sounds like compared to the rest of the digital delay modes. I went with the BOSS Metal Zone as the distortion because this is what I started out with 23 years ago when I began playing guitar, which was the Metal Zone and a Digital Delay DD-3. It's a combo that at one point were my only two pedals for a long time and are still fun together to use all these years later.

FX CHAIN: Overdrive Stacking (WAMPLER Tumnus + MXR Timmy)
Overdrive stacking with the WAMPLER Tumnus and MXR Timmy overdrive pedals.
I chose to put the Tumnus before the Timmy as the Timmy has a BASS control and the Tumnus does not. The way I approached it is the Tumnus can act also like a boost and mix in more Treble going into the Timmy with its Bass control. Of course you can swap the order and try it that way as well. With the differing Gain ranges between the two it makes for another great stacking combination with a lot of mixing possibilities.

RIFFpost: Behringer Ultra Tremolo UT300
A very solid and near-identical BOSS Tremolo TR-2 clone for $29. The plastic enclosure means it won't last as long as the BOSS, but you can't go wrong with a very good TR-2 clone at the fraction of the cost if you're on a budget.

RIFFpost: Electro-Harmonix Green Russian Big Muff Pi
From Russia with Muff.
In the early 1990s the "Green Russian" began as an originally made in Russia Big Muff under the name "Mike Mattews/Sovtek" and was silver and black. In 1994 it was re-branded as the Green Russian using the army green color. A year later a 2nd version of the Green Russian was released that had a slightly modified circuit.
First released in 2017, this reissue is considered the "Nano" version as it is using the smaller, pedalboard friendly enclosure. The Green Russian is also great for bass and of course, stacking.

RIFFpost: JHS 3 Series Phaser
The 3 Series Phaser gives you standard phaser sounds that has added range for dialing in more "underwater" vibrato effects and mixing options. For $99 it's a great value, especially with the amount of onboard controls that are otherwise lacking in other similarly priced phasers.

RIFFpost: BOSS Digital Delay DD-8
11 modes: 10 delays and 1 loop mode. BOSS crammed every imaginable delay into this box. The pedal might seem overwhelming, but you just have 3 controls and only 2 that mix the actual effects (Feedback and Time), so hearing the sounds you're looking for is easy. A couple modes (Warp and GLT) give you "expression" options by pressing the pedal switch as well.

RIFFpost: EarthQuaker Devices Dispatch Master V3 (delay/reverb)
It's another one of those "delay/reverb" combo pedals, but EQD keeps it simple and it sounds nice. Understandably, the price tag ($199 new) will speak differently to people as far as necessity goes, but for those who love these types of pedals it's definitely worth it (especially if you can find it pre-owned at a decent price).

Phantasy Star Online Ver.2 on Dreamcast (Level 111 Hunter on ULTIMATE)
Fired up my Dreamcast and played my first character I originally created 23 years ago.
I start off looking through my storage to see what rare weapons I had stored away since I last played 20 years ago. I grabbed some weapons out of the vault and went into the Forest to try them all out and had some fun then beat the boss, the Sil Dragon.
I provided commentary throughout the entire gameplay. I'll make the game volume a little louder in future videos.

Running my Dreamcast after 20 years and running my PSO character I created 23 years ago
I know this is not guitar content but I intend to stream/upload gaming videos to my channel as well in the future.
First test run of screen capturing my Dreamcast while running the original PSO (Ver.2) and using my first original character I created 23 years ago.
I believe it's been about 20 years since I actually fired up my Dreamcast and it ran just fine. You will notice the very first thing it asks me to do is set the time and date and the default is 11/27/1998.
Once I got into PSO it prompts you that "PSO is a unique game in that your character can exist offline and online..." and that "you must play on the same Dreamcast throughout the entire adventure." My character was at level 111 with 279 hours gameplay logged last I played it 20 something years ago. I had some memories flood in for sure after seeing that.
You can then choose "ONLINE" or "OFFLINE" mode, (obviously I could only choose OFFLINE), and then the 4 different difficulties. Once my character was loaded I took at quick peek at all my gear and that was it for now.
No commentary yet, but my next video I will take a look at my storage and play a little bit while offering some commentary on the mic.
