Love us some boudin and trying to perfect our recipe. We made up about 40lbs of boudin and 5lbs of brats as well as some chicken from the carcasses we made the 2.5 gallons of broth with and some leftover taco meat we had in the fridge. #familyfarm #blessed #cherokee #homesteading #farmlife #boudin #pork #sausage

Butchered some roosters and a sow and this is me just breaking down the meat and trying to use all I can. I ground the pork for sausage; Breakfast, brats, and more boudin. I also roasted the pork bones and will be making broth with em and getting all the meat and I also did that with the chicken carcasses as well. I actually got 2.5 gallons of chicken stock. Cooked the duck breast and it was delicious. Tried a reverse sear in butter with garlic and cooked one with just salt and pepper and on the other I used McCormick’s steak seasoning and the salt and pepper was better. We have several adolescent chicks in the quarantine pen that need their feathers trimmed and released into the flock so we can put momma duck and her babies in there with our other chicks we have. The hard part of raising animals is something people don’t discuss often. It is painful when your animals fall sick and you cannot save them. We found Tasha down in the pasture a few weeks ago and she just could not recover. I worked hard to try to save her and keep her comfortable but after all this time she kept getting worse so I had to help her pass so she would not suffer anymore.
