We've spent a lot of time lately thinking about Ourself, a quite indifferent endeavor when under a selfish guise, though when practiced in the form of reflection for reflections sake; for the sole purpose of pontification, it can essentially become a gateway into selflessness. We've spent much of Our days investigating what's real and what isn't. This is both in the context of distinguishing what is true from what is false, what is Real from what is fake, what works & what’s broken. An act of embodying the closest thing one can manage to ‘researcher’ before journeying into the confines of one's own place in the world. To detach from the self-identity We’ve created since Our birth. Figuring, if indeed We created ‘Who We are’… it’s as much of a man-made construct as anything else outside of nature; the difference between our biology and Our personality. (Consequentially, a co-occurring effect is that it becomes easier to distinguish between those people who are actively working towards the ‘truth’, the ‘good’, and those who may still be struggling to determine the difference. We had to let go of the self-imposed confines of Our character for Our concept of ‘Self’ to fail in comparison to other man-made, tangible, materially physical reality. We find it all to unfortunate that so many people fail to question their own beliefs, (especially about themselves!). There’s a variety of rationale propelling this philosophy, not the least of which is Fear. Just as folks are afraid of what they don’t understand, We’re also afraid of how the world sees us. In fact, it’s arguably more about how We believe the world sees us. We often incorporate different facets of our personalities at different times, some psychologists have taken to calling these ‘masks’. It’s estimated that the average individual in Western society ‘wears’ up to nine different ‘masks’ on a regular basis. These so called ‘masks’ are appropriately named as a mask is often part of a costume. If We were to put on a façade when around certain groups of people, the group will develop a false idea of who you are. This is very convenient when one is worried about rejection & ridicule, fore if the group was to offend your character… it wouldn’t really be Your character that’s in question. When We wear a false face We intentionally, (rarely unknowingly), chose to lie about who We are. Sure, the specifics of the ‘lie’ might be considerably ‘harmless’, but when one engages in this behavior their robbing those people of their right to the truth. The ramifications can be played out on a massive scale as We see groups of people being manipulated into adopting a ‘false image’ of what their agenda truly is. This isn’t as rare as one might think, it occurs about as often as the negative portrayal of any particular group. Interestingly, the ruby-red-ramble you’ve just read was written less than one month before We experienced Our first real psychological breakdown; stress induced & seemingly out of nowhere, One day Our brain sort of short-circuited. Our doctors have convinced Us that it was the result of both extreme amounts of pressure from the specifics of entering into ‘new parenthood’ with an individual who wore the ultimate mask… Diagnosed with ‘NPD’, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Our sons mother chose to create an elaborate lie that ultimately took Our son away & landed Us in trouble with the law for the first time in years & years, (since Our active addiction). We were in a state of psychosis for nearly three whole months preceding the surprise restraining order We received. Living & working out of a hotel for months, as a new father We were actively engaged in Our sons life nearly every day for the first seven months. There seems to be a huge shift from acting to activism. Not that this is entirely a bad thing, some actors are known to have had a profound impact in different sections of the cultural sphere. Ashton Kutcher is a great example of one using their fame & consequent resources in order to further advance specific humanitarian causes, (human-trafficking is where Kelso has focused his efforts & Mr. Kutcher’s impact is clearly portrayed & available for all to see in multiple documentaries.) Actors aren’t the only group to be making this transition, (no, they don’t need hormone blockers – it’s not that kind of a transition), from musicians, artists, & comedians to sports figures & TV personalities. It’s nothing new for folks to undergo an industry lull or for certain individuals to experience a break in their own career. What is most definitely new is the internet & social-media platforms, which We’re thinking are partially to blame for the influx of ‘Factivism’, (Our acronym for ‘False-activism’.) Initially this increase in humanitarian efforts by industry ‘stars’ registered as good news, how could ‘more help’ possibly hurt(?) With so many people starting podcasts, so many ‘new’ media outlets, (though, We sure are glad You’ve found DaamnTalk) the news cycle becomes so vast & so diverse that it becomes increasingly difficult to separate the ‘fake news’ from the ‘facts’. We believe many of these ‘alternative’ sources are echoing eachother; This is why Our voice IS Your voice! We may not present much, (outside of Our interviews), that you don’t already know We’re critically thinking about the issues You’ve brought to Us & amplifying the message! Too often, stories are covered so quickly it rarely allows for any follow-ups, (something We @ DTDJO believe is extremely important - fore how else can We monitor the efficiency of Our co-created ideas playing out in the real world(?) The ‘mainstream’ news, along with ‘big-tech’, is the biggest contributor to the ‘propaganda machine’. With a tendency to focus on breaking news, motivated by generating engagement & increasing viewership… The main television news staples are propelled by the wheels of manipulation & are ALL funded by the 2 biggest corporations in the world, ‘Vanguard’ & ‘Blackrock’. Its no mystery why cable access media has earned its place in the lives of many a generation. That is, until now.. … We don’t claim to be activists, factivists or hacktivists… though We can’t speak for the entire DaamnTalk community! It’s true, We’ve done a fair amount of work behind the scenes in parts of Washington; from creating community meetings discussing unproductive law enforcement officials, to joining the Recovery Alliance in Olympia & speaking with members of congress attempting to get them to delegate more aid to Our nation’s drug epidemic. (That’s one example of the more successful petitions, as two of the three bills We were fighting for ultimately passed. Resulting in insurance companies no longer being allowed to immediately deny an addict entry into an inpatient facility, We eliminated the two-week gap in the time one requests treatment & the time their actually considered ‘eligible’. (Two weeks is often life or death for those dangerously dependent on drugs or alcohol.) We took part in many demonstrations in the city of Seattle, from the Obama era of 2012 – to Our first presidential campaign collaboration in 2016 – Speaking to crowds about addiction & homelessness at Studio7, (which, We’re told is no longer there anymore). Performing spoken-word & conscious HipHop at the ‘Seattle Hempfest’. It’s fair to say that the majority of what We’ve accomplished was not strictly because Our hearts were filled with Love & Joy for all… a fair majority of Our work over the course of Our performing / recording career has been selfish. An attempt to advance the brand… In fact, We’d look thrice at one in a similar position who claims otherwise. That is… until We directed Our passion towards DaamnTalkDJO. Beginning as a part-time side project back in 2016, We set out to create an alternative source for ‘heavy’, ‘hot-button’ issues. DaamnTalk is MUCH more than the DailyDaamn, short clips of ‘Missed news & Diff views’. DaamnTalk DJO is even more than a podcast of curious characters conversing controversial content… We’re much more than ‘another source of trustworthy information. Yes, there have been many times We’ve played with reality as a construct resulting from Seriously asking Ourself, “Who Am I?” We don’t consider that a defect or something that merits a changing of courses dressed as an act of ‘correction’. We’d argue that one must at least poses a general sense of gravity to produce an original, cutworthy cringeout of personified philosophically intellectual regurgitation such as this. Could We really be all that far off base or way out there in the stratosphere & still maintain a life of spiritual principals(?) equating to what I’d like to believe to be an exquisitely honest piece of modern melancholically, i.e. transcribed literature. (cough cough) Of course that is a whimsical statement We’re adding as a footnote on the ass of what was already an incoherent remark on the goulash lately being served to the human race at an extremely trying period of time. Our own understanding of the relationships between what constitutes one’s ‘mental health’, ones personalized ‘potential for creativity’ & one’s grasp of what is ‘Fundamentally True’. And all with such humility! DaamnTalk Is about much more than #Recovery, #politics, #spirituality, #culture or #Philosophy. This particular video Is the (unedited raw) culmination of a ongoing court case from 3-8-21. Whole We were 9 days away from achieving Our 1year sobriety date. (No non prescribed substances since March 17 2020). The DaamnTalk #RecoveryDiscovery blog is for Us addicts with co-occurring disorders & diseases! *@ 30 y/o, *nearly 2 decades ‘missed’-diagnosed, *13 page ‘criminal’ history report, *8 inpatient rehabs & *over a dozen jails- *totaling over 2 years of confinement… RECOVERY IS STILL POSSIBLE!!!!! Last year, after experiencing a seemingly random & utterly insane mental collapse of Our psyche, We were diagnosed with Schizo-E-disorder, a genetic mental-disability mimicking that of #Schizophrenia. The breakdown occurred just days after receiving an officer at Our door, with service of a perspective restraining order against ‘me’ & Our (then) 7-month old son, (via his mother). The situation deteriorated quickly as on March 9th, 2021, We called 911 while pulling onto the side of a quiet, wooded road; underwent what felt like a heart attack after the onset of the most extreme panic-attack We’d ever had. After, (another), blackout, (the 2nd that night thus far), We ‘came to’ coasting 5mph on the wrong side of a similarly wooded, 2-lane road, with at least 3 cop cars & an ambulance surrounding Our ‘yota like they were Our own private escort service... ~{With a working ignition interlock in Our truck, We attempted to explain that We were in serious need of ‘physical/mental help.’} Mind you, We were rapidly digressing into ‘textbook’ paranoid delusion… Thanks so much for reading! The support We’ve gotten has been truly incredible! For Us personally, apprehending Our disease was only possible once We were able to shed the stigma that We’d unintentionally stapled onto ‘mental-illness’. Believing all Our problems arose from Our disease of #addiction - viewing any perspective diagnosis (#bipolarawareness) as a weakness / - We are man! Brought up by the Schwarzenegger handbook!!) #Daamn if We didn’t have a lot to learn… Just as We couldn’t make the move from ‘sobriety’ to ‘recovery’ without first acquiring that honest *desire & *willingness… *remission became an option for Us only after complete *integration!!!!! Owning Our state of mental health, admitting to ‘Self’ that this is a real condition! That, whether by fault or design, genetics or conditions; *Our brain is physically different from most folks, requiring Us to ‘adjust Our levels’ through a medication-assisted-therapy-treatment regimen in order to be operating with what ‘most folks’ already have. With nearly 36 months of solid, well-earned, (consecutive) #Recovery from addiction- Keeping Our mental health in check is no different from keeping Our disease in check! Nothing changes if nothing changes & the only thing we had to change was everything… but Daamn if something hadn’t changed. The longest time clean since We were 12 years old. ( 3 years this March 17th! ) If Our #recoveryprogram isn’t all-encompassing then We’re leaving cracks in Our foundation!!! Part of what We’ve learned over 18 years struggling with this #Disease, by FINALLY incorporating ALL of ‘Self’ - into a Program - No longer denying or ignoring any of it! Our ‘Program’ - is - Our ‘Philosophy’! (‘The way in which one internally conducts themselves, *manner of approaching the external world, *set of ethics & morals that intentionally guide &/or unknowingly dictate one’s day to day & grand-scale existence.’) *RECOVERYisDISCOVERYisRECOVERYisDiscoveryDISCOVERYisRECOVERYisDiscoveryisRECOVERY* Who knows what We may find out about ‘Self’!? Who decides what’s actually best for ‘Us’!? Who determines what’s possible?! Who creates ‘their’ own reality!? Who ‘controls’ their Recovery? #mentalhealthawareness : Because We may not be responsible for Our Disease, but we better Daamn well be responsible for our Recovery!
