Feeding Giant Aldabra Tortoises - Seychelles
Giant Aldabra tortoises are the second biggest tortoise in the world - second only to the Galapagos tortoises. They can weigh over 250kg and grow shells over 5 feet long. And they are one of the oldest living animals, well over 100 years old.
But who would have believed these amazing animals would be so sentient as to enjoy a good back or neck scratch and LOVE being fed their favorite greens. These wonderful creatures were filmed in the National Botanical Gardens in Victoria on Mahe Island, Seychelles.

Bottle Feeding an Orphaned Baby Bat - Meet Phlebus
Phlebus, a rescued, orphaned baby fruitbat, is very small for dates with slow development and a short nose for a fruitbat.
When first found he was only about 9 days old. But in the hands of his new momma, bat carer Terrie, watch him guzzle down his special baby bat Biolac milk formula now. Obviously making up for lost time!
Despite the 'bad press' flying foxes have (not helped by Hollywood and images of terrifying blood-sucking bats!) they are adorable sentient creatures and the most amazing flying mammals. In fact, they are the closest mammal in Australia genetically to humans - go figure!
If you would like to help with their care, then make a difference and consider donating to your local wildlife group.
Or, if you are a resident of South East Queensland, then you could use the link: https://batrescue.org.au/donate/

Sex Amongst Orangutans - Borneo
Whilst traveling in Borneo we were lucky enough to visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, home to many rescued and rehabilitated orangutans. Whist observing their playful activity in a 'day area' full of enrichment toys and ropes, one male took a particular liking to one of the females in the group.
Well, I guess when love is in the air, the boys will have a go. And he did...
Not sure if she was all too happy about it - her expression looks more like "I said I wanted a banana, not YOUR banana!..."
Plus watch out for two younger orangs checking out the action as they try to grab some fruit lying behind the older 'active' male...Lol!

Walking Amongst Giant Aldabra Tortoises at La Vanille Nature Park, Mauritius
I have never seen so many of these Giant Aldabra tortoises anywhere in the world, not in any Zoo or Wildlife Park.
So this was such a special life-changing experience. Not just to see so many of them all in the one place, but to be able to walk freely amongst these prehistoric-looking creatures. And to be allowed to touch, stroke and feed them. Weighing up to 250kg and some more than 100 years old, truly an amazing experience!

Sex Between Giant Aldabra Tortoises - La Vanille Nature Park in Mauritius!
Giant Aldabra Tortoises can weigh over 250kg or 500 lbs with a shell of over 5 feet long. So it is hard to imagine how such a large male tortoise can actually breed with a much smaller female.
We were lucky enough to visit this very special Nature Park in Mauritius. And of course, it just happened to be mating season. Aaah, with so much love in the air, it was hard not to look while quite a few males were "getting in the mood for love...".
The sound was also quite amazing, like something out of Jurassic Park... See what you think!!

Trying To Teach A Vulture To Fly | Moholoholo South Africa
Ever seen anyone try to teach a lappet-faced vulture to fly (the 'can-openers' of the vulture world)? Well, meet John and Bula, the vulture. John was the only person who could handle Bula, who had an 'interesting' temperament. And it soon became a right of passage for any volunteer to try to fly Bula. Here is Tony Isaacson's (DiveCareDare) effort. Not for the faint-hearted!

Monitor lizards are known for being a little nasty and dangerous to handle. Sharp claws and a strong whip-like tail come to mind...
But Oscar was hand-reared by a friend on the Sunshine Coast. And I just had to meet him before they relocated recently to North Queensland. I wasn't dissapointed!
