Welcome to White Rock
This video is about my love for White Rock, NM. This is a beloved place I went often when I lived in Santa Fe. I went as a refuge, as a seeker of peace, as a stressed out babysitter, as a dog sitter, as a burnt out student in standardized academia. She provided loving arms for me to rest in and a listening ear for me to vent. I'm so grateful for this place and I wanted to make a love song video for her. I hope you enjoy.
I was in graduate school for art therapy and some of the footage is from my internship reflection video.

Following the Good Energy
This video is a conglomeration of some of the recent events in my life including waterfall pool skinny dipping, cleaning out an old shed to use as a new studio, rescuing a turtle from becoming road kill, and going for a beautiful evening walk.

All is well
I grew up with a verbally abusive father and a very dysfunctional family and I had severe anxiety for many years. There is a book I used to read a lot called "God Calling", which is a channelled book. In it, there is a passage that says to repeat to yourself, "All is well." over and over again until it draws out all of the anxiety like drawing out poison. I did this all the time in those days, "All is well", "All is well." I don't have anxiety anymore, but I still hold this phrase in my heart. I know that a lot of us deal with anxiety. For those out there who do, you can live in peace. It is possible. I believe that living in peace is a revolutionary act. It is very hard to manipulate people who are at peace. All is well.

The importance of being honest
I'm going to make a commitment to make a video once a week from now on because I want to and for the journey of my art and to share about healing. These are things I want to do. Right now, the portal is small, but it's there. I will feed it and it will continue to grow and blossom and become beautiful. Everything is connected and feeds into this. I hope you enjoy this video. It's a little bit of visual and a little bit of talking and it's experimental. I think honesty and vulnerability is so beautiful and healing and moving, so I'm going to try and incorporate that into each video.

Matika Wilbur's Project 562; Changing the way we see Native America
I really love this book: Project 562; Changing The Way We See Native America and I wanted to feature it here. I love what Matika Wilbur (Swinomish/Tulalip) has done with her photography.
I feel that it is important that we all learn directly about Native Americans from them and not from books written about them by non-native people.
I also want to promote the podcast that Matika does with Dr. Adrienne Keene (Cherokee Nation). I have learned so much from it.

The Stillness of Nature
Hello! I went up to Tennent Mountain, which if you're in the western North Carolina area, you'll know that it is one of the most beautiful hikes on the Art Loeb Trail in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I love it up there and I have special memories there. It is where I first started reading the book, "Black Elk Speaks", sitting on those rocks looking out at the beautiful fields of blue ridges.
This video is not specifically about my art, but that's okay. Everything is connected and feeds into my creativity and what inspires me and that is the point of the vlog, I think, at least in part.

Adobe to barn and back
This video is about my trip I recently took to retrieve my paintings, which have been stored in a gallery in a little town called Thomas in West Virginia.
I had a show there right before I was beginning graduate school for art therapy over 3 years ago. The gallery was then called, "Lamplight", but it has since changed its name to "Bloom".
I am experimenting with making videos and I really like it. I'm new at it but I'm getting better as I learn the ins and outs of video editing. I hope you enjoy.
My paintings and prints are now for sale in downtown Asheville at a used bookstore called "Downtown Books and News". I have had prints for sale there for 5 years and I am so grateful for that relationship. Now there are two framed prints for sale there. Go check it out!
The music in this video is:
Oh, Sweet Home by Hannah Kaminer
and Party Talk by Craft Spells.
There were so many beautiful and talented artists I am blessed to be friends with and got to see during this trip. The print I bought was made by Seth, who lives in Thomas, WV and owns the store, Creature. His website is:

Nellie Rose Textiles is my friend Nellie's business. Her website is:
nellierosetextiles.com
Bloom is at: thosewhobloom.com
Downtown Books and News, where my work is, is on Lexington street in downtown Asheville and their website is: dbnbooks.com
And my website is: suzannejoyteune.com
stay tuned.

Painting of Chelsea.
This is my first attempt at making a process video. Usually I make large scale paintings on fabric, but recently I made this smaller painting on watercolor paper and I decided to document it. I also talk a little about my journey and life and process leading up to this painting. I hope that part is not too boring. I'm going to keep making videos of the process of all my paintings.
Thanks for watching!
enjoy!
Love,
Suzy.
