TURN FROM EVIL AND SEEK PEACE! | CHRISTIAN BIBLE VERSES | Psalm 34:14
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse for Christians is Psalm 34:14, “Turn away from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.” Memorize His verses today! When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
The Psalmist is teaching wisdom. The previous verse was about deceptive, evil speech. Here, he takes it one step further and tells us not only are we not to speak evil but to pursue peace and to do good. While this seems like a simple message, the wisdom is in recognizing that our human ways are evil, and our relationship with God allows us to seek peace regardless of circumstances.
Why should we memorize the daily Bible verse today? Here are five reasons to remember the daily Bible verse today:

DON’T LOOK IN THE MIRROR! | CHRISTIAN BIBLE VERSES | James 1:23
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse for Christians is James 1:23, “For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror.” Memorize His verses today! When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
The meaning of our natural face in the original language literally translates to "the face of one's birth." James is talking about our spiritual birth, our new birth in Christ. The implication is a lack of Christian maturity. When we hear the word of God but don't act on it, we remain spiritual babies. When we become doers of the word, we allow our worship to influence our lives which results in us maturing as Christians. The outcome of this maturity is that we will be blessed for being a blessing to others.
Why should we memorize the daily Bible verse today? Here are five reasons to remember the daily Bible verse today:

DON’T BE A FOOL! | CHRISTIAN BIBLE VERSES | Proverbs 8:13
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse for Christians is Proverbs 8:13, “The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.” Memorize His verses today! When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
Proverbs 8, verses 12 through 31, is essentially the autobiography of “Lady Wisdom.” The "I" who is speaking in these verses is wisdom. Wisdom is associated with prudence, knowledge, and discretion in verse 12. The fear of the Lord in verse 13 implies having a proper attitude of agreement, respect, and obedience for Him and viewing evil the same way He does. Pride, arrogance and perverse speech are traits of the fool who doesn’t accept God’s rule. In contrast, wisdom gives us discretion and strength to meet life’s challenges.

LET GOD HANDLE IT! | CHRISTIAN BIBLE VERSES | Romans 12:19
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse for Christians is Romans 12:19, “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” Memorize His verses today! When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
Christians often suffer persecution and hatred from our society. Our natural response is to retaliate, but as Christians, we are supposed to demonstrate God's grace to a lost and hostile world. We can't forget that Jesus told us to turn the other cheek in Matthew 5:39. We are looking to do what is right in God's eyes, and we are also supposed to demonstrate His character and not our own. Paul quotes Deuteronomy 32:35, where God says vengeance is His and will be paid out in due time.
Why should we memorize the daily Bible verse today? Here are five reasons to remember the daily Bible verse today:

THE WORD GIVES US OUR FAITH! | CHRISTIAN BIBLE VERSES | Romans 10:17
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse for Christians is Romans 10:17, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
There is a lot said in this seemingly simple passage. A person can only have faith if they hear the message of salvation. This requires teachers who share the word of Christ. Paul emphasizes evangelism's role in making the gospel message available to everyone. It is crucial to recognize that it is Christ Himself speaking through His word. As messengers, we are instruments used by the Holy Spirit for this purpose. The Word of God confronts and convicts sinners and offers reconciliation. We can't make a person believe, and we also can't take credit when they do. But we must share the word.
Why should we memorize the daily Bible verse today? Here are five reasons to remember the daily Bible verse today:

WHAT IS THE WORK OF GOD? | CHRISTIAN BIBLE VERSES | John 6:29
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse for Christians is John 6:29, “Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
A Jewish crowd just asked Jesus what work was necessary to assure salvation. The significance of the Jewish crowd is that their belief was that works were necessary for salvation. Notice that Jesus doesn't use the word faith here but believe. The difference in the original language is significant. Belief implies both faith and obedience. So, while there is no work we need to do to secure salvation, this statement lends to the thoughts of James that out of obedience, we should desire to do the work of God. Belief allows the work of the Holy Spirit to be done through us.
Why should we memorize the daily Bible verse today? Here are five reasons to remember the daily Bible verse today:

ANXIETY IS NOT REQUIRED! | CHRISTIAN BIBLE VERSES | Philippians 4:6
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse for Christians is Philippians 4:6, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
Paul is suggesting a prescription for anxiety, receiving God's peace and rejoicing in Him. Prayer is the answer to anxiety. Jesus spoke of anxiety in the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 6:25 through 34, and He made clear that it has no power in our lives. Anxiety is caused by excessive focus on circumstances, but prayer shifts our focus to God and the comfort and provision He supplies. The most important part of this message is with thanksgiving. We must thank God for His love and provision if we want to escape anxiety.

THE LORD IS OUR SHEPHERD! | CHRISTIAN BIBLE VERSES | Psalm 23:1
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse for Christians is Psalm 23:1, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
The first three verses of this Psalm focus on the experiences of peace, plenty, and renewal. It is important to remember that the role of the shepherd was something David, the Shepherd king, was intimately familiar with. Having been a shepherd, David knew that shepherds live with their flock, provide guidance and protection, and fill all the needs of the sheep in his care. So, when David said that with God as his shepherd, he wouldn’t want for anything he needed, the depth of what he was implying was understood. Absolute provision was the intended understanding of this statement.

HOLD ON TO THE TRUTH! | CHRISTIAN BIBLE VERSES | Proverbs 3:3
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse for Christians is Proverbs 3:3, “Do not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” Memorize His verses today! When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
This verse's words translated to kindness and truth refer to loyalty, covenant love, and faithfulness. The intended understanding is loving faithfulness. Binding this loving faithfulness around the neck and writing it on the tablet of the heart indicates that this character should be both an internal reality and an outwardly demonstrated characteristic of the Christian. Our interactions with God and other people should always be a demonstration of loving faithfulness.

SHOW YOUR GENTLE SPIRIT! | CHRISTIAN BIBLE VERSES | Philippians 4:5
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse for Christians is Philippians 4:5, “Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near.” Memorize His verses today! When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
Paul emphasizes the need for a peaceful environment. The focus of the gentle spirit is one of selflessness and respect for others. The important message here is that we want to represent true Christian character, one of love and respect for all people. The reputation of Jesus’s church is riding on our shoulders. The Lord is near has a dual meaning. First, it means that the return of Christ is coming and could happen at any time. Second, the closeness of God to all believers is a constant reality; He is always near to us.

PRAY FOR BOLDNESS! | CHRISTIAN BIBLE VERSES TODAY | Ephesians 6:19
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse for Christians is Ephesians 6:19, “and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,” Memorize His verses today! When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
Paul is reminding his Ephesian readers to pray for him as well. Although he is in prison, he is still focused on having the right words to speak and the courage to say them. His circumstances have not changed his focus on spreading the gospel message. Some believe the “mystery of the gospel” is the good news of Christ, while others believe it refers to Paul’s purpose in spreading the word to the gentiles. Given our society today, I think the message for us is both. We are faced with a significant gentile mindset in dire need of the good news.

BE ON ALERT AND PERSEVERE! | CHRISTIAN BIBLE VERSES | Ephesians 6:18
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse for Christians is Ephesians 6:18, “praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,” Memorize His verses today! When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
Paul rounds out the remainder of this passage with a focus on prayer. Technically, prayer is not part of the Armor of God, but a necessary way of life, hence Paul saying, “at all times.” The focus of our prayer in this passage is threefold; constant, according to God’s will, and for all believers. Paul needs prayer as he is in prison, and his point is that no one has “made it” and no longer needs the support of other believers. Our Spirit energized, enabled, and directed prayer allows us to use our armor best.

THE GOSPEL OF PEACE IS OUR FOUNDATION! | BIBLE VERSES TODAY | Ephesians 6:15 With Commentary!

So far, the armor of God consists of integrity and a strong upright character. In this verse, Paul mentions the gospel of peace represented by the shoes worn with the armor. While the defense is the common focus when thinking about armor, Paul describes our need to go forward and share the gospel through a reference to the shoes on our feet. Not only are shoes necessary for preparedness going forward, but they also represent a solid foundation. In this sense, the gospel is our foundation and strength that brings peace to our hearts during the battle. reliance on the gospel message is part of our armor.

TAKE SHELTER IN GOD’S SHADOW! | BIBLE VERSES TODAY | Psalm 91:1 With Commentary!
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse is Psalm 91:1, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.” Memorize His verses today! When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
Those who turn to God live under His protection. The implied closeness between God and us is the significance of being in His shadow. When we live in the protection of His shadow, He is always close to us, and we are close to Him. The provision found in this relationship is unmatchable.
Why should we memorize the daily Bible verse today? Here are five reasons to remember the daily Bible verse today:
Number 1 - The Bible tells us to. Colossians 3:16 says, "Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts." (New Living Translation).
Number 2- JESUS quoted Bible verses from the Old Testament more than 150 times, demonstrating why it's important to remember a verse today. When we memorize His word daily, we see the difference in our lives and our witnessing His Good News, love, and WISDOM.
Number 3- the Sword of the Spirit mentioned in Ephesians 6 is the word of God, Bible verses! When we memorize His word every day, it equips us with the Word of God to defend ourselves against the enemy’s will.
Number 4 - Jesus instructs us in the Great Commission, Mathew 28:16-20, that we are to continue the work He started by spreading His Good News to the ends of the earth. Today's Bible verse helps us remember His word when we need it to fulfill this instruction from Him.
Number 5 - Scripture is God's wisdom to help us live more productive lives as we fulfill our purpose for His kingdom. God's word is alive, and when we remember a verse a day will help us experience all of what that means in our life. As we remember a verse a day, we are more prepared for biblical living.

Jesus is preaching in Galilee after John the Baptist is arrested. The purpose of this statement is to proclaim that the reign of God on earth was progressing to the next level. Jesus was telling those listening that the good news of God is that He is willing to forgive and receive people into His kingdom if they would turn from their sins. THE WORD OF GOD DEFEATS THE ENEMY! | BIBLE VERSES TODAY | Ephesians 6:17 With Commentary!
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse is Ephesians 6:17, “And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,” Memorize His verses today! When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
Paul commonly used references to battle and soldiers to make his point clear to his readers. Ephesians chapter 6, verses 10 through 20, describe the whole armor of God. Paul is explaining how we can find security in the strength of the Lord and His protection. The shield referenced in verse 16 was a significant piece. The shields of the time were approximately 2 feet by 4 feet, made of wood, and soaked in water so they wouldn’t burn when defending from arrows of fire. Just as a soldier could protect their whole body with such a large shield, Paul tells us that our shield of faith completely covers us.

TAKE THE STRAIGHT PATH! | BIBLE VERSES TODAY | Proverbs 3:6 With Commentary!
Bible verses with commentary every day! Today's Bible verse is Proverbs 3:6, “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Memorize His verses today! When we remember Bible verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
When we live according to our ways, our morals are corrupted, and we tend to create problems for ourselves. In contrast, when we acknowledge God in every decision we make and weigh them by His righteousness, He will keep us on the right path in both moral and pragmatic senses. When we invite Him into every activity, thought, and decision, His righteousness is attainable.

Today's Bible verse is Matthew 7:1, “Do not judge so that you will not be judged.” Memorize His verses today! When we remember God’s verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
Jesus is preaching about judging others in this part of the Sermon on the Mount. It is crucial to understand that Jesus is not suggesting turning a blind eye to the sins of other believers. The judgment discussed here is harsh and destructive criticism. Combined with verse 2, we recognize that Jesus is saying that if we are harsh with others, then we can expect the same from God. While it is the responsibility of every believer to help others correct their mistakes, this does not imply we are to present ourselves as having a greater understanding of God's word and belittle another person. If we favor ourselves with greater understanding, we can expect that God will judge our sins accordingly.

THERE’S NO REASON TO BE AFRAID! | MEMORIZE HIS VERSES TODAY | Jeremiah 1:8 With Commentary!
Today's Bible verse is Jeremiah 1:8, “Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you,” declares the Lord.” Memorize His verses today! When we remember God’s verses every day, we are more prepared for whatever the world throws at us.
Jeremiah chapter 1 is about Jeremiah's call to service from the Lord. In response to Jeremiah's reluctance and excuses, God tells him not to be afraid to do as he is told because he has God's protection when he obeys. As believers, and therefore disciples, we have the same call to service by Jesus in the Great Commission. We also have the same assurance of God's protection when we deny our fears and obey. While Jeremiah was called to prophesy, we are called to continue the work Jesus started and spread the news about salvation to the ends of the earth. As disciples, we are disciple-makers. We are reminded that we have no reason to fear carrying this responsibility.
