V-Flock, possibly Tundra Swans Captured on Thermal Camera 11/27/2023
This video was created with a bi-spectrum Hikvision Optical & Thermal IP Camera. This is video from the thermal camera recorded in 720p resolution of the 2022 fall migration. The audio stream is from a specially designed nocturnal flight call microphone called the Old Bird 21c. The small "dots" you see moving across the screen are the birds in flight. This is the best technology we know of to watch nocturnal migrating birds. The thermal camera will pick up the heat signature of the migrating birds at very high altitude.
The camera is oriented with the top of the frame facing north.
The PixCams Live Bird Migration Station is a unique bird migration station that combines several types of technologies to study and watch the spring & fall bird migration in south western Pennsylvania. This migration station is located in Murrysville, PA and will run year round for collecting citizen science data. This station combines live streaming optical and thermal cameras, and a real-time bioacoustics for analyzing nocturnal flight calls (NFCs).
