‘Active shooter’ at Brooklyn subway station injures 16 as explosive devices found
AT LEAST 16 people have been injured, and explosive devices were found after a suspect wearing a gas mask opened fire in a Brooklyn subway station.
Mayhem unfolded during the Tuesday morning commute at the 36th Street subway station in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, as photos from the scene showed several people bloodied on the platform.
Authorities are on the hunt for a Black male suspect about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 180 pounds, wearing a gas mask and an orange construction vest that resembled MTA attire, law enforcement sources told NBC.
Police believe he acted alone.
The man was reportedly spotted throwing "a smoke canister" in the subway station before opening fire, sources told the outlet.
Fire officials confirmed to The US Sun that at least 16 people were hospitalized, eight of which were gunshot victims.
