006 - Championing Your Own Project
The Real Estate, Architecture, and Construction industries are tough to approach as an Owner and Customer. There are endless firms and contractors to choose from – all of them are for-profit businesses with different qualities, goals and motives.
The process is mostly driven by hard products and numbers; however, there is another factor which is difficult to measure, yet with certainty will define project success – an Advocate Championing The Project.
We build value thru measurable outcomes and results, but the secret sauce is the Project Champion. Every project requires an Advocate-Leader at the top who is consistently guiding the process and pushing for the right outcomes. No one is more motivated than the Owner and Manager who is defining the scope, paying the bills, and ultimately using the space!
For the Advocate-Leader, we discuss two key skills, and a third, professional recommendation, to ensure your project is successful.

005 - A Quality Team, The Biggest Success Factor On Your Project
We discuss your team as one of the greatest factors of success or failure on any Architectural or Construction renovation project. An Owner Manager can best succeed on their project by sourcing an A-quality team, and then empowering the team to make decisions to build the project.
By choosing an A-quality team of talented professionals all empowered to solve problems, that strives for high performance and for building an excellent product, an organized team is able to powerfully execute and build a project despite many challenges encountered along the way.
The project team is typically comprised of a few different entities:
• Owner / Client
• Owner Manager or Project Manager
• Real Estate & Leasing Agents, including Brokers and Landlord representatives
• Professional / Design Vendors
• AV / IT / Security Design
• Furniture
• Specialty Trades (for instance, Terrace Landscaping, Greenscaping, and Pools or Spas)
• Cleaning & Moving
We cover the qualities You Want In Your Team Members, and the ones you want to avoid.

004 - Six Key Components of Financial Management On Your Architecture & Construction Project
Incurring financial problems on a property build-out is a terrible feeling. One of the worst stories I've heard is a couple whose 12 week renovation took 52 weeks, and cost 3.5x the initial budget. Many a project have gone bust due to financial issues, faced enormous additional costs, or cost two to three times the initial budget or worse - but this is completely avoidable with some understanding and planning.
In this video we show the each the basic skills of proper management of the Financial Process for a Renovation or New Build.
As an Owner Manager, it is your prerogative to ensure that the financial management side of your project is fully handled – which means you need to understand the nature of the Architecture and Construction Industry, as well as the flow of money, and the key tools to understand for managing your projects. We will cover the flow of money in a different video.
The Six Key components to manage on the financial side of your renovation project:
• Budgets
• Cash Flow
• Leveling
• Cost Tracking Reports and Invoicing
• Contingency
• Retention

003 - 2022's Supply Chain Crisis, & Six Tips to Minimize Impacts on Your Projects
In this video we talk about the supply chain issues of 2021 – how it’s been affecting projects this last year, how we see the pattern continue to develop in 2022, and what you can do about minimizing the effects on your projects and holdings.
The causes of the supply chain issues we are experiencing are many, and also appears to be getting worse. At close of 2021 we are experiencing a huge boom in demand for construction and renovation projects, while the core causes of the supply chain problems are also amplifying. This setup does not bode well for improvements in 2022 – we’ll have to assume that the supply chain will continue to affect us on our projects through the remainder of 2022 and even 2023. This only means that we should put all our efforts on managing what we know, and work with our team to mitigate any impacts on our projects.
Here are Six Steps You Can Take to Assure Minimal Supply Chain Impact on Your Project:
Tip #1: Place your orders quickly.
Tip #2: If You’re Certain You Want It, Go For It
Tip #3: Source Local and In-Stock Items
Tip #4: Track Shipping Origin Points, and Track Vessel Loading and Unloading
Tip #5: Press your vendors for confirmed delivery dates.
Tip #6: Pick The Right Vendors
We’ll be sure to keep you updated and appraised in the next couple of months, as the Supply Chain situation develops into 2022. I’ll be closely watching this on my own projects, and will provide a new update next quarter.
