Description

The Defamation League (TDL) is a band based out of the Pacific Northwest.

For the most part, just a studio (well, our singer's laptop...we use the term "studio" loosely) project, though occasional once-in-a-blue-moon one-off shows are not out of the question under the right conditions and/or the right price.

Dolla-Dolla bills, yo.

Anyway, TDL is working on an E.P. and an album with the E.P. coming out first, and will be a bit of a companion piece to the main album, which will have a loose end of the world theme running throughout it, though we are hesitant to call it an outright concept album. Then again, even the tracks that aren't necessarily about THE end of the world, could still be interpreted as being about the end of SOMEONE's world (or beginning, depending on your point of view).

The album has been in the works for many years, but given the apocalyptic theme running throughout, these last few years have been extremely formative for the album for obvious reasons, and as such, there has been a lot of progress on it and the bones of the album are clearly there at this point.

The first TDL track released, "Variant, Ω (Sybil The Soothsayer mix)", effectively our demo, is a rough mix of the song which we plan to release on the previously mentioned E.P (which will be titled Sybil The Soothsayer, btw. Originally, that was going to be the album title, but that has since changed and we decided to use the name for the E.P. instead) but will record a new version to be released on the main album. The Sybil The Soothsayer version of "Variant, Ω" features guest drummer, Kellii Scott (Failure).

Fun fact:

The lyrics for "Variant, Ω" were written in November, 2019. They sat in a notepad file until after the psychotic response to covid happened, when our vocalist/lyricist realized that the lyrics could be interpreted as somewhat of a prediction of these last few years, in multiple ways. Taking the context of when the lyrics were written into account, and how they fit nicely with the theme for the album that was already in the works, it's kinda spooky, so naturally, the lyrics were put to music and that is how the first track TDL wrote came about, though the title did come after we put it to music. At this point, lets just hope that there are no more creepy...um...prophetic.. coincidences in regards to the lyrics for the rest of the album, because the album gets pretty fucking dark. Nuclear winter dark.
