Does our idea of good and evil comes from natural selection? (English Audio)
Some claim that religion is so widespread because : “a fear of supernatural punishment steered individuals away from costly social transgressions resulting from unrestrained, evolutionarily ancestral, selfish interest”.
However, even if narcissism and machiavellianism are considered to be undesirable traits under the Judeo-Christian perspective, a large scientific data suggest that those traits may not be costly and, even, positivelly correlated with a reproductively adaptive strategy in the past and now.
Thus, something other must going on here to explain the spread of religions as christianity.
