The Advent of Divine Justice - Session 35
The Advent of Divine Justice is a letter written December 25, 1938, to the Baháʼís of the United States and Canada, by Shoghi Effendi, describing the role of America in establishing the Most Great Peace.
While technically a long-form letter or epistle, The Advent of Divine Justice is commonly published and studied as an independent book.
The book lays out a Baháʼí understanding of the unique spiritual destiny of America and the role that American Baháʼís have in ensuring the country is able to fulfill that destiny. Shoghi Effendi describes the North American Baháʼís as “the spiritual descendants of the Dawn-breakers” and says they will play an important part in establishing the Faith around the world. He states that to contribute fully to this process, American Baháʼís must internalize three spiritual prerequisites: “moral rectitude,” “absolute chastity,” and “complete freedom from prejudice.”
The book repeatedly references the Tablets of the Divine Plan by ʻAbdu’l-Bahá–which gave an early impetus to the spread of the Baháʼí Faith in North America–and Shoghi Effendi devotes more than half of the book to discussing the attitudes to be adopted and techniques to be used by Baháʼís when teaching the religion.

An Introduction to the Study of the Persian Bayan
Beginning with its Preface, which is sixteen pages in length including copious notes written by the editor and translator A.L.M. Nicolas and extending throughout its 630 pages, the French version of the Persian Bayán, which has been rendered into English and is the source of this study, concentrates on the following themes: (1) The nature of God; (2) The nature of the Manifestations and Revelations and Dispensations of God; (3) The nature and behavior of human beings –- Christians, Muslims and Bábís (followers of te Báb); (4) The requirements of true belief; (5) New laws for the Bábí Dispensation; (6) References to the succeeding Manifestations of God; (7) The Word of God. There are expositions of less important topics as well— (8) the significance of the science of numbers; (9) the insignificance of the science of grammar; (10) on the spiritual meanings of certain colors; (11) the spiritual equivalents and rankings of material substances; (12) several abwáb are given over to an explanation f various words used in the Qur’án, among them, “Paradise”, “Hell”, “Death”, “The Tomb”, “Resurrection”, “The Return”, “The Balance”, “The Last Judgment”, “The Count”, “Door”, “The Point”, and “Reunion”. In the course of explaining these Qur’ánic symbolic terms, the Báb addresses (for the most part) the seven major themes cited earlier.
In addition to these themes, the most prominent topic in the entire book is the announcement of Him Whom God shall make manifest, Who is to follow the Bab, and Who is to be the sole interpreter, after the Bab, of the contents of His Writings, including the Persian Bayan. Baha'u'llah is Him Whom God shall make manifest, and a study of references made to the Persian Bayan can be carried out alongside the reading and study of the original text. One of the significant and unique characteristics of the Revelation of Baha'u'llah, is the prominence given to laws initially found in the Persian Bayan and reaffirmed in the Kitab-i-Aqdas. These laws will be identified and discussed in the course of this reading.
The intimate relationship between what are sometimes called the Twin Manifestations of God, will become evident through the study of the Persian Bayan and its correlation with the Writings of Baha'u'llah.

Baháʼí Naw-Rúz 2022
Celebration. Naw-Rúz is one of nine Baháʼí holy days where work and school must be suspended; the only one that is not associated with an event in the lives of either the Báb or Baháʼu'lláh. It is usually a festive event observed with meetings for prayer and music and dancing.

Hand of the Cause of God, Roy Wilhelm
Roy Cochran Wilhelm (September 17, 1875 - December 20, 1951) was a prominent early American Bahá’í who was posthumously appointed a Hand of the Cause of God by Shoghi Effendi. He was a millionaire businessman in New York City, and head of the family coffee company. His mother, Laurie, became a Bahá’í in 1898, but Roy was not attracted to the Faith until he accompanied his mother on her pilgrimage to 'Akká in 1907. This experience transformed his life. He was elected to serve on the Executive Board of the Bahá’í Temple Unity in 1909 and, except for one year of illness, remained a member on it, and its successor, the National Spiritual Assembly, until 1946, often acting as its treasurer. He also helped administer the Bahá’í community in New York, produced Bahá’í literature, and supported the teaching work of Martha Root and Louis Gregory. He acted as a channel of communication between ‘Abdu’l-Bahá and the American Bahá’ís, and was one of those whom Shoghi Effendi consulted about the future development of the Faith in 1922.He died on 24 November 1951, and was posthumously named a Hand of the Cause by Shoghi Effendi. An annual unity feast is held at the former Wilhelm property at West Englewood, New Jersey, to commemorate a feast held there by ‘Abdu’l-Baha during his visit to America.
