While I was at my daughters house in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, we made the Tabouleh and now we are making an authentic Armenian dish called “Yalanchi”  The recipe is down below, I did not use pinenuts, because I don’t like the aftertaste, but feel free to use what you want. This has been in my family for generations. Tez FM https://tezfm.com Facebook https://www.facebook.com/lawrence.tezekian Instagram @tez.fm Twitter @Tez_FM Yalanchi (Authentic Diane’s Recipe) 2 chopped medium onions 1/2 cup olive oil 1 cup uncooked rice (Carolina Rice) 1/3 cup pine nuts 1 Tbs. dill Juice of 1 lemon 1/2 tsp allspice Salt and pepper 50 grape leaves Brown onions with olive oil Add rice, pine nuts, dill, lemon juice, allspice, salt and pepper. Add 1 cup warm water and cook until liquid is absorbed. Put 1 tsp. Mixture on each leaf and roll up- make sure the sides are tight, when rolling up. Cook in a pot with 2 cups of water. Cook until water is absorbed- 1 hour. Before putting the leaves in the pot— line the bottom of the pot with grape leaves(just leaves alone), so the bottom of the pot doesn’t burn. Fill the pot and before you put the pot cover on, place a saucer(upside down )on top of all stuffed grape leaves to hold the leaves from separating. It will be delicious— Cook at a low flame(simmer). Today my son in law wanted me to make him some Tabouleh so I decided to make it count and do a video on how to make it from my family’s recipe. (Actual recipe below description) Family heritage is very important, and I just wanted to share some of my family’s food that I grew up on. Much love, Tez TEZ’S TABBOULEH RECIPE ½ cup fine bulgur wheat 4 firm Roma tomatoes, very finely chopped 1 English cucumber (hothouse cucumber), very finely chopped 2 bunches parsley, part of the stems removed, washed and well-dried, very finely chopped 12-15 fresh mint leaves, stems removed, washed, well-dried, very finely chopped 4 green onions, white and green parts, very finely chopped Salt 3-4 tablespoon lime juice (lemon juice, if you prefer) 3-4 tablespoon Early Harvest extra virgin olive oil Romaine lettuce leaves to serve, optional INSTRUCTIONS Wash the bulgur wheat and soak it in water for 5-7 minute. Drain very well (squeeze the bulgur wheat by hand to get rid of any excess water). Set aside. Very finely chop the vegetables, herbs and green onions as indicated above. Be sure to place the tomatoes in a colander to drain excess juice. Place the chopped vegetables, herbs and green onions in a mixing bowl or dish. Add the bulgur and season with salt. Mix gently. Now add the the lime juice and olive oil and mix again. For best results, cover the tabouli and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Transfer to a serving platter. If you like, serve the tabouli with a side of pita and romaine lettuce leaves, which act as wraps or "boats" for the tabouli.

I was visiting my granddaughter and new twin grandsons at my daughter’s and son-in-law’s (MK2 Jody Curran USCG) house so my daughter took me on a quick tour.
