We decided to go to extreme measures to keep her alive this Winter. We are hoping to re-introduce her to the flock once she recovers in the Spring. Fingers crossed. Crazy Winter Coop - Oh it's Ugly, but it works! Canadian winters can dump a lot of snow. We adapted our summer coop for the flock so the chickens have dry space during even the worst of winter weather. Tanner, our 4 year old doberman shepherd, loves our winter morning routine. This is Alistair. He's 4 years old and our goof ball. His life story is amazing. The day we got him, at 8 weeks old as a barn rescue, he went to emergency. Next came a wild 6 weeks of vet visits, medications and weird discoveries. As it turned out, he is deformed. He has one huge lung and one, shriveled up like a pickle, tiny non functional lung. He has not needed any medical help since his first weeks of life. So glad to have him in our lives. How blessed are we??!! #thecat #ourcat #morningpets #itsthecat #grateful

These are our young male Partridge Chantecler chickens. They are a perfect breed for the cold winters here. They have small combs and wattles so frostbite is not a problem. They are really hardy breed, slow growers and usable for both eggs and meat. #backyardchickens #heritagechicken #partridgechantecler #hardychicken

I am truly living a once in a lifetime experience. Last week I decided to investigate what I thought was an old family Bible inherited after my mother passed away in 2014. What I found blew my mind. My Paternal Great Great Grandmother & Great Great Grandfather, had filled from cover to cover a first edition hard cover book 'Architect.' by Richard Norman Shaw (1831-1912) with newspaper articles, political commentary, sermons, poetry, brochures, gardening articles, images, witty writings & more dating from 1850-1902. It is truly a keepsake, treasure and historical record of the times. I am honored to share each new discovery with all of you one piece at a time live on my Twitch channel. This is the very first article of the book. It is titled "Dear Girls". I love that this sets the tone for the rest of the book. Because of this, I feel it is important to read sooner rater than later. This is a relevant document in todays times. It's message did not get diluted by time. I hope women both young and old enjoy and savor the depth and inspiration in this piece. Good men can and will cheer along, understanding that it has not been more than a small drip in the pool of time since women became societally and legally deemed equal to men. It is this cheering man that will go farther in his life being supported in return by women of great strength he nurtured along his way. The man who cowers from and, worse yet, the man who controls or diminishes woman's strength will weaken over time eventually rendering himself unseen by those who did not whither or fracture in the wreckage of his sabotage.

Within the vast pages of my 150 year old family scrapbook was this beautiful poem by Henry Longfellow. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did when we found it. I will only investigate the contents of this mysterious book with you in a live streaming format. No cheating. I will not peek ahead of our time together. It will be as new to me as it is for you. A Boy Of The Revolution - The Birth Of A Nation Have you ever wondered what it was like to be at New York Harbor the moment the United States, with its newly formed 13 colonies, gained independence from Great Britain? This incredible article from my 150 year old scrap book tells the tail. What a gift to know what happened and what the 'feel' of the moment was. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did discovering it. This is my very first time reading it and I was moved to tears.
