The Role of Time Restricted Eating Relevant to Cancer
The Role of Time Restricted Eating Relevant to Cancer Dr. Amy Kirkham, Ph.D.
Older breast cancer survivors with cardiometabolic risk factors who restricted food intake to eight hours during the weekday, followed by 16 hours of fasting, lowered their risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) after a few weeks, according to a new research letter publishing today in JACC: CardioOncology. The study is a part of the upcoming mini-focus issue, “Physical Activity and Lifestyle Interventions in Cancer.”
The authors looked at 22 individuals with a body mass index who were classified as overweight or obese (less than 25kg/m2), had completed cardiotoxic treatment (anthracyclines, a commonly used chemotherapy drug) within the past one to six years, and were an average age of 66 years. For eight weeks participants were allowed to eat freely between 12-8 p.m. on weekdays and at any time on the weekends. Outside of those hours, participants were asked to consume only water, black coffee or black tea. Using the Canadian Cardiovascular Society scoring system to calculate the 10-year Framingham Risk Score, the authors found that CVD risk decreased from 10.9% to 8.6% at the end of the trial period.

Humans Living In Captivity - Throw Back
with Randy Roach
This show first aired in 2007. Its message is more true today than when it first aired. Our government wants to control what we eat, how we raise children, what words we use to describe ourselves and more. While you may not be able to see the bars, we're no different than animals at the zoo. Humans in captivity.

Active "Brown Fat" Protects From Pre-Diabetes + The New Pre-Workout
Active "Brown Fat" Protects From Pre-Diabetes + The New Pre-Workout Dr. Richard L. Wahl, MD - Logan Christopher
In a prospective study of young, lean adults, PET/CT imaging revealed that higher levels of active brown adipose tissue (also known as “brown fat”) are more prevalent in individuals who exhibit very early indications of metabolic disorders. Published ahead of print in The Journal of Nuclear Medicine, the study suggests that active brown fat is recruited to counteract “pre-prediabetic” states, potentially serving as a first-line protective mechanism against very early metabolic or hormonal abnormalities. PLUS Are you tired of pre-workouts that deliver nothing but a long hard crash. Here's what you need to know.

Link Between High Fat Diet & Cancer plus Building Inner Eco-System
Link Between High Fat Diet & Cancer plus Building Inner Eco-System Dr. Jefferson Chan, Ph.D. - Donna Gates, MEd
Researchers at the Beckman Institute deployed a molecular probe to demonstrate a direct link between a high-fat diet and heightened nitric oxide levels, which can lead to increased risk of inflammation and cancer development. PLUS Imagine taking pounds of organic seeds, biodynamic brown rice, and chickpeas -- each seed, grain or legume with its own unique ecosystem -- and fermenting them all together to create a diverse culture found nowhere else on Earth. So diverse, in fact, that there is no way to actually list or test all the many strains of bacteria in each batch.

Method Rejuvenates Multiple Cellular Attributes by 30 Years-New Study
Method Rejuvenates Multiple Cellular Attributes by 30 Years-New Study Dr. Dlijeet Gill, PhD - Debbi Barber - Mary Sabat, MS, Nutrition
This study describes a novel "maturation phase transient reprogramming" (MPTR) method to restore the epigenome of cells to a more youthful state. The authors demonstrate the effectiveness of the method to reverse several age-related changes including remodeling of the transcriptome. The method performs favorably compared to other transient reprogramming protocols, and the study will be of interest to developmental biologists as well as researchers who study ageing. PLUS How nutrition effects the function and aging of your skin. And what you can do to keep youthful skin.

More Evidence That Muscle Saves Lives
More Evidence That Muscle Saves Lives Dr. Peggy Cowthon, PhD, MPH
I did my first show connecting strength and muscle to longevity back in 2006 and have continued to do shows that prove that. Today we discuss a new study that links muscle mass to injuries associated with aging. Older men with lower amounts of muscle mass have significantly increased risk of hip and potentially other fractures, new research led by investigators at Sutter Health’s San Francisco Coordinating Center (SFCC) in San Francisco, CA has shown.

A New Class of Intervention in Mitigating Cellular Senescence
A New Class of Intervention in Mitigating Cellular Senescence Dr. Simon Melov
Senescent cells have become the focus of the longevity movement. These zombie cells live past their expiration date and spew inflammatory agents that make all the cells around them sick and eventually they become zombie cells as well. The accumulation of these cells hastens tissue damage and function in all organs. The focus on developing senolytic drugs and supplements is the most popular area of science today. What if I told you one of the most profound senolytics available occurs naturally in your own body. And t also plays a role in Vitamin D3 production in your skin?

Sodium Restriction In Heart Failure?
Sodium Restriction In Heart Failure? Justin A. Ezekowitz, MBBCh, MSc
For years physicians have ordered their patients to restrict sodium for a variety of reasons. High blood pressure, cardiac function and heart failure are a few. The theory is that sodium attracts water and that fluid retention increases the blood volume thus increasing pressure in the heart and blood vessels. A recent study may show why this is not only wrong but may actually lead to heart failure.

The Pep Talk - GHK-Cu In Anti-aging and Regenerative Medicine
with guest, Dr. Carl Paige, MD
This tiny protein found naturally in humans and mammals is attached to copper. Early research showed it has the ability to reduce the effects of aging in a variety of tissue. Its effects are pronounced in skin where it acts to promote the production of supporting structures (extracellular matrix) in the skin, increase collagen synthesis, regulate copper levels, and activate reparative cells. Its small molecular weight makes it ideal for cosmetics. One French study showed it may regrow hair! It's currently being investigated as an anti-inflammatory to replace corticosteroids, for use in nerve regeneration, as a stem cell growth factor, as a DNA protectant, and as a general anti-cancer agent.

What Really CAUSES Skin Cancer
I am always astounded how people don't get the real cause of skin cancer. The sun is an unwilling participant. Even your dermatologist knows this information. But they don't talk about it with their patients. Lets connect the dots in an easy-to-follow way to what really causes skin cancer and how to avoid it if you've been told you're at risk.
