When we pray in tongues we are praying out Mysteries, things hidden in the Spirit from the mind of man. That's why it takes faith to speak it. Can every child of God speak in tongues or is it a gift only for a special few? The Bible says both. How do we rightly divide that? All scriptures of the Bible agree. The Scriptural evidence for being filled with the Holy Spirit is SPEAKING in other Tongues. The Bible makes that clear. Experiences, hot-flashes and goose-bumps - even miracles themselves - are not the primary evidence of having been baptized in the Spirit. Speaking is not unusual to people, whether Christian or not. What is different about the inspired utterances of the Gifts of the Spirit is where the inspiration comes from. Scripture tells us to behold both God's kindness and severity. One of the easiest things to do as a young believer is to go back to old sins you are familiar with. They don't have to be sex drugs and rock-and-roll, they just gotta be things you do that don't have God's approval.
