Galgo Tales

Galgo Tales

Description

3 Rescued Galgos (Spanish Greyhounds) Olive, Henri and Lily who have journeyed from Spain to the comfort of a sofa in Switzerland. Follow our shenanigans, destructions and nose prints on the windows while we get on with living our very best life! Galgos (Spanish Greyhound) are one of the most mistreated breed of dog. They are overbred by hunters and discarded in the most unimaginable of ways. In many cases abandonment is preferable to having their legs broken, hanged from trees or dropped in wells to die a slow and painful death. It is not uncommon for the Galgo to be injured during training when they are tied to Automobiles or Atv's and sometimes dragged when they can no longer keep up. This cousin of the Greyhound is one of the most loving, calm and gentle breeds of dogs. While their prey instinct is strong, when brought into the home they are typically quiet and require short bursts of activity. Afterwards they are content to rest on a sofa for hours on end. These dogs can sometimes "talk" and can be known to "roo" or "sing". They will contort themselves into the strangest most uncomfortable positions and can sometimes be a bit catlike, needing to keep warm and snuggle. They love a soft sofa, because after all, being so skinny without any extra layers of fat to pad you, makes hard surfaces very uncomfortable. We have lost many a sofa and chair to our rescued puppies whose love of stuffing and paper knows no end. They absolutely love removing the stuffing from toys and cushions during their puppy phase. For us, the adoption of our Galgos has been life changing. Given the choice between our old lost sofas or these Dogs, the dogs win every single time.
