Consider This Before Getting Fishing Gear: A MUST WATCH
Fishing is one of the hobbies where you can enjoy spending time with family and friends. There are many types of equipment and gear that you will need when you go fishing.
Basic fishing gears are somehow expensive, but with rental services, you can rent well-maintained and professional fishing gear and equipment at reasonable rates.
Check Out: Top Fishing Accessories
If you are a novice in fishing, there are many rental services where you can borrow fishing gear. Most of the rental services for fishing gears include fishing rods, hooks, fishing gloves, nets, sinkers, lures, and other fishing accessories.
When choosing where to rent fishing gear, ensure that the rental service offers different fishing gear kinds for various fishing. Rates in renting fishing gears depend on what gears to rent and how many days it will be used.
Things To Consider Before Getting Fishing Gear
Before buying or renting fishing gear, learn how to choose your gears to catch fishes correctly. By using the right equipment, you will be able to place your baits in the correct locations, and you will be able to have more catches. Here are some things you need to know before buying fishing gear.
Types Of Fishing Rods
Fishing rods are mostly made of fiberglass or graphite. Graphite fishing rods are preferred by advanced fishers to have fighting power. But having graphite fishing rods can be more brittle than other types.
While fiberglass fishing rods it is sturdier and limited in maintenance. Most beginners prefer it because of its durability and its added weight.
Casting rods are made with guides on top of the blank. It allows the fishermen to place their casts with accuracy and precision. Casting rods have two different models, spin casting and bait casting.
These two models differ in guide size closest to the reel seat. There are also trolling rods that have a heavier casting-style used in the deep sea. These casting rods are the best use to catch larger fish.
Spinning rods are lighter and smaller in size. It makes the fishermen comfortable and easy to use, suitable for beginners and people who like to have a lightweight fishing rod.
There are also saltwater options called surf rods, which are heavier and longer than holds larger and heavier baits.
Power Of Fishing Rods
The power of a fishing rod depends on how much it takes to bend. The stronger the fishing rod is, the easier it to bend. Your fishing rods must have a combination of power and action for them to work correctly and better. Fishing rods with light power are designed to target smaller pieces.
On the other hand, rods with moderate power are ideal for bait, likes jerk baits and spinnerbaits. Rods with heavier power are best used to catch frogs, jigs, and anything that requires lesser bend. The fishing rod power is also referred to as the weight of the rod and its flexibility.
Action Of Fishing Rods
The action of a fishing rod is referred to as where the rod bends. There are two types of action rods, fast and slow action rods. The quick action rod will bend closer to the tip, and the slow action rod will be closer to the butt.
Using a lighter action rod will allow you to chase bigger pieces or fishes. And using a faster action rod is used for a single hook that requires stronger hook sets.
Handle Of Fishing Rods
Fishing rods have different handles. Some fishing rods are made of foam and cork. Choosing the best fishing rod handle allows you to grip comfortably for easy fishing.
Length Of Fishing Rods
Length of fishing rods is vital for fishers. Shorter rods are used for fishing in close combat. The shorter fishing rod will require lesser bend and stretch. Having shorter fishing rod are mostly preferred by kayak anglers to save space.
Fishing rods with longer measurements are used for walking baits and deep diving crankbaits. These longer rods are used for covering a great distance.

Where To Buy A Fishing License
Buying a fishing license is quick and easy once you’ve learned to utilize your resources, like the internet and phone. In 2018, there’s a generated sales income of more than $700 million for the fishing license alone across the US.
Every coin that was received will be given to the conservation, restoration, and improvement of our environment, but of course, licenses are not only the primary source of environmental funds.
Each year, the Sport Fish Restoration Program allotted millions of dollars to save fish and wildlife resources, fish management, habitat protection, and many others.
Purchase License Via Phone
You can always have the convenience to purchase a license via phone, and they are open 7 days a week. Your License ID is valid until the actual license is received in the mail.
All of the payments must be made via credit card, and you have to pay the 3% convenience fee for each phone transaction.
Where Does Your Taxes Go?
As mentioned above, these large amounts of money are used for our benefit. 10% of the tax is used on the sale price of sport fishing equipment, 3% on the electric outboard boat motors, 2.7% on inflatable boats, sailboats, yachts, rowboats, and 9.2% on fishing gears.
The tax that took effect on the sale price is the government’s way of thanking you for supporting the conservation of nature and abiding by international fishing laws.
Requirements For Getting Fishing License
ELS requirements that the resident has to be 21 years old and above to get a fishing license or a public safety identification number. Without these, they are not allowed to go fishing.
If the resident used his driver’s license at least 60 days ago yet hasn’t received the card, they may call the license center instead.
Importance Of A Fishing License
Every state has their guideline and regulation to protect both the fish and the anglers. What made the fishing license so important is the angle's liability to become more responsible following these guidelines.
If not for these rules, then there’s a possibility of fish depletion and cause the fish to become extinct. Everything has to be taken moderately to not suffer the consequences of extinction, which may somehow lead to an imbalance of nature and starvation.
Fishing rules are managed by each state, and they are usually set up restrictions around the type of fish allowable to catch, the number of fishing lines and hooks, the number of fish you can take in one day, size of the fish, and fishing method used.

What Is Braided Fishing Line and How Braided Lines Are Made
What Is Braided Fishing Line ~ Braided fishing line is a popular fishing tool during the past years and they can work effectively in certain situations. They are meant to be unbreakable and durable, but they also have their disadvantages when they can be outweighed by the fish.
Braids were made from natural fibers, such as linen and cotton while the fiber braids are made of man-made materials like Dacron, Spectra, and Micro-Dyneema. The common characteristics of braided fishing lines are they have a low resistance to abrasion and can be easily cut by any sharp object.
Braided lines are sensitive to fish bites, especially when being placed in deep waters. However, hard-hitting will cause the line to break if not setting the drag on reels in low values.
How Braided Lines Are Made
Braids are made by Spectra or Micro-Dyneema, which makes an abrasion-resistant tool for fishing. The line has to be strong enough that if you will have a hard time breaking it. A fish can’t break the line either unless they have pikes or muskies to cut it. The biggest problem in making braids is to tie the knots.
The braid can be slippery, yet you have to tie it correctly or it will come undone. Most fishermen use the Palomar knot for durability and sensitivity purposes and Palomar knots can work well. If the braid is tied in an improved clinch knot, then you have to ensure that you’ve wrapped it at least seven times. With either knot used, leave a small part of the tag end when you finish it.
How To Use The Braided Line
Since braids are visible on clear water, fishermen are avoiding to cast it on clear waters because this might scare off fish, especially when they can see the lure for a very long time. You have to put the braid with an extra knot between you and the bait. Some fishermen thought that braids can be cut into rod guides, yet you have to make sure the braid will bury themselves on the reel spool to avoid slipping.
Braids have small diameters and they can float to become effective for topwater baits, but they have to be stretched as far as possible to pull the bait away from the fish. Braids are efficient tools during heavy water vegetation, especially when surrounded by lily pads, water hyacinths, and hydrilla. The braid will be responsible for cutting these plant stems so you would catch a fish without them losing the other line.

You WONT Believe These Unusual Breeding Practices With Fish
Sockeye salmon is one of the fish that has some unusual breeding practices because both of the sexes turn red from being green heads before spawning. Sockeyes would mostly spawn in the streams or the logs until the eggs sink at the bottom.
You will know if it’s spawning season according to the changes in the stream’s smell.
Reproduction Of Fishes
Hermaphroditic Fish
All fish can reproduce by sexual reproduction – when the sperm cells of the male would fuse to the egg cells from the ovaries of the female fish. Most fish species are hermaphrodites, meaning each of them has individual ovaries and testes.
For a hermaphrodite, they can produce only one gamete, egg, or sperm at a time, and then the gametes would cross-fertilize by another species. Hermaphroditic species can switch sexes, to alternate producing sperm or eggs during reproduction.
Parthenogenesis
Another unusual kind of reproduction is parthenogenesis, meaning the egg cells can still develop without the presence of a sperm cell. In this process, the offspring are the exact copy of the parent.
This type of reproduction seems to show in bony fish and in 2007, it is confirmed that an isolated female hammerhead shark can reproduce on its own.
Breeding Labyrinth Fish
Labyrinth fish are also called anabantoids, meaning they are bubble-nest builders. The one responsible for the nest is the male fish. Male fish would maintain the nested bubble, while the female fish rests for comfort.
Male fish would entice the female to stay in the nests and induce them to spawn by embracing them. At the same time, male fish are getting aggressive in protecting the female fish.
Breeding Cichlids
Cichlids would fall into different categories of “substratum-spawning” or “mouth brooders”. This would only mean that cichlids would either lay eggs of the substratum or they fry their eggs into their mouths to prevent the harm that may happen.
Another distinction of cichlids is whether they are monogamous or polygamous.
For the monogamous cichlids, they are allowed to interact in the aquarium freely and most of them are very aggressive claiming their territory while the polygamous cichlids can maintain their territory while consorting freely among each other.

Here are what fish do every day: Fish and their habits
What Are Fish Habits? In fishing, you have to gain more understanding about the fish’s difference in behavior, habitats, and diet routine. Generally, fish are very sensitive to baits and have excellent optimal abilities, as they can still see in muddy and dark waters. Most fish are cold-blooded, which means that their temperature adapts to their environment’s temperature.
Fish are mostly in need of high protein as they need their muscles to swim along in high-pressured waters. Its tail’s responsibility is to propel forward while the smaller fins served as a controller for the forward and backward movement.
The Ecology Of Fish
Each fish species has their specific habits, especially when it comes to foods and the habitats they live in. You can identify these fish groups based on the foods they eat, whether they are carnivores, herbivores, or even omnivores.
The Food Groups Of Fish
Fish can look for their prey together on a school of minnows, migrating frogs, and hatching insect larvae because they are rich in protein. Carnivores are meat-eating fish and dependent on foods with higher protein. Without protein intake, they would become malnourished and die.
Carnivores love to eat earthworms, fruit flies, oysters, shrimps, cooked chicken and flakes food. Herbivores are plant-eating fish that are fed on cucumber, vegetables, algae, and algal flakes.
Lastly, omnivores are fish that are not picky with foods because they can eat both meat and plants. Since they tend to be unmindful of their food intake, that’s the reason why they kept themselves in trouble, as they overfeed themselves.
Camouflage Effects
Fish are smart enough to ambush their prey using their markings as their cover. They can live in weeds, rocks, logs, and rocks to make them less visible to their prey. When their prey unknowingly comes near, that’s the time where they’ll start to attack.

This Is What Fish Oil Does To Your Body: MUST WATCH BEFORE TAKING
What Does Fish Oil Do? Fish oil provides a wide range of physical and mental benefits for an individual. For this reason, fish oil supplements are introduced to the public to improve health in both areas. Among the things that fish oil does is to prevent depression, anxiety, strengthen joints, heart, and improve brain function.
Benefits Of Fish Oil
Below are some of the things that fish oil does in a person’s body. All of such are the benefits that you can acquire from fish oil supplement and fish:
Can Improve Heart Health
Fish oil contains a good amount of omega-3 fatty acids. This substance is a form of unsaturated fatty acid that can lessen inflammation inside the body. If inflammation happens in the body, blood vessels may receive damage that may result in strokes and heart disease. To make it simpler, here are some of the heart-related benefits of omega-3 fatty acids:
Slightly reducing blood pressure
Decreasing triglycerides
Lessening irregular heartbeats
Reducing or eliminating your risk of heart failure and stroke
Reducing blood clotting
If you eat around two to three servings of fish weekly, especially those that are rich with omega-3 fatty acids, expect to have a lesser risk of heart disease. It is particular with sudden cardiac death. The best fish species that you can eat to acquire omega-3 fatty acids include cod, salmon, lake trout, sardine, herring, and Atlantic mackerel.
Contributes To The Health Of Cells
According to research that is done by the University of Michigan, omega-3 fatty acids show potent health-promoting effects by fighting cancer on prostate cancer cells. It was studied by many laboratories and groups years after to see if it has such an effect, and the results show that consuming omega-3 fatty acids contributes to an individual’s longevity.
Whether it is from fish or fish oil supplements, you can acquire this benefit from the omega-3 fatty acids they contain.
Reduces Inflammation And Blood Triglycerides
Blood triglycerides and inflammation both contribute to heart diseases, among others. By consuming fish oil supplements and fish regularly, you will be able to fight these risks.
While most people may wonder how fat can help to reduce fat levels in the blood, research that came from the University of Western Sydney in Australia by Guy D. Eslick with other researchers shows that fish oil supplements have statistically significant blood triglycerides reduction while having no apparent effect on an individual’s cholesterol.

Rod Gear Ratio What Does It REALLY Mean?
What Does Gear Ratio Mean On A Fishing Reel? Being a skilled fisherman not only requires you the right gear, but it also requires you to learn what it does, as well as the inner workings of using every fishing equipment. In this article, we will find out the important purpose of a gear ratio on a fishing reel. Gear ratio means how often the spool rotates per full turn of the fishing spinning reel handle.
You’re about to find out more on this article if you don’t know what the gear ratio is, or what it means to fish reels. So keep reading as we find out more information about the specific types of ratios and what works the best for each fishing style.
What Is A Gear Ratio?
The gears are perhaps one of the most important aspects of any fishing reel, whether it’s a bait-caster or a spinning reel. A fishing reel’s gears connect the handle with the fishing line spindle as the gears turn when you spin the handle, and thus the spool spinning as well.
The gears that link the two will define which the spool shifts significantly with each crank revolution. You might probably notice fishing reels sold with a certain ratio of gear which could be in 4:1, 5:1, 6.4:1, or 7.1:1, anything in between, lower, higher or more or less the span of the ratio.
Fishing reels include different gear ratios, particularly baitcasting reels and spinning reels that make them the perfect fishing equipment for different purposes. To explain the ratio much further, the first figure or number before the colon symbol (:) represents the number of times the spool can turn with each complete crank revolution. On the other hand, the second number represents every manual crank revolution the fishing reel can have.
How Does A Gear Ratio Work On A Fishing Reel?
The higher the fishing reel’s gear ratio, the fewer times you’ll have to spin the crank to reach the same retrieving rate as a reel with a lower gear ratio. The best example of how a gear ratio works on a fishing reel is a ratio of 7.1:1. In this case, the spool of the line will turn 7.1 times every time you spin the handle.
Another example of gear ratios is that, for each crank revolution, a reel with a 5:1 gear ratio will pull in about 20 inches of line. So a fishing reel with a 7:1 gear ratio will retrieve about 30 inches of the line for each crank revolution.
The Importance Of Using A Fishing Reel With A Higher And Lower Gear Ratios
You might wonder that a higher gear ratio is the ideal ratio for your fishing reel as it retrieves a long line of the spool, but that’s not always the case. Keep reading as we explain further some details about the importance of using a higher and lower gear ratio on your fishing reel.
Low Gear Ratio
Having a higher gear ratio fishing reel isn’t always recommended for fishing enthusiasts. There are times that you also need to use a relatively low gear-ratio fishing reel. A low gear ratio would be anything between 5:1 to 5.4:1 for some reason. Also, there are times when a lower gear ratio is most likely to prove beneficial to your fishing activity.
The quicker you reel them in, the more tension they put on the spool, which can be the worst idea and may cause the line to tear down. Using a lower gear ratio helps slows down the speed at which you retrieve the line of spool because it keeps off the track a little friction. It is best recommended to use a lower gear ratio when searching for fish which aren’t going very quickly.
If you’re using a reel with an excessively high gear ratio, slow-moving fish may not be going for the lure. In addition to this, allowing your bait to stay in the strike zone for an extended time is a great advantage that comes with using a fishing reel that has a lower gear ratio.
High Gear Ratio
Sometimes, you need a lot of power and a very high gear ratio when having your fishing activity. Technically, a high gear ratio is anything from 7:1 to 8.1:1. You won’t generally find fishing reels with gear ratios over 8.1:1, but it’s quite impossible and rare to find. At any level, this kind of gear ratio is recommended for rapid movements, jerky actions, and accurate control of how much pressure is on the line of the spool.
Since a high gear ratio fishing reel draws in much more line per revolution than a low gear ratio reel, it is much simpler to catch a fish easily with a high gear ratio reel. This helps you to easily insert the hook into the fish’s mouth and it helps you to perform line motions quickly and accurately.

Wild vs Farmed Fish ~~ What Does Wild Caught Fish Mean? ~~
Wild-caught fish are captured in their natural habitats by fishermen, such as ponds, streams, oceans, etc. The primary benefit of a Wild-caught fish is that they simply eat species present in their existing environment, which is much more diverse than what farmed fish typically gets to eat.
However, Wild-caught fish has the advantage of not having antibiotics. They do not have the same risk of disease or contamination and Wild-caught fish are generally believed to be a healthier option as they live longer and have a more diverse diet than farm-grown fish.
They are however a point of concern for the environment as many wild fish are caught using dangerous methods, including drift nets. Some are trapped using less damaging devices, such as cage traps and hand tracks.
Healthiest Wild-caught Fish That You Can Eat
If there are fish to catch, then there are fish to eat. While many fisheries around the world today are in danger due to overfishing, seafood as a source of protein and nutrition should still be a part of our daily meal routine. Here is the list of the best and healthiest wild-caught fish that you can have on your table.
Sockeye Salmon
Sockeye Salmons are so rich in Omega-3. When taken sustainably, all of the wild-caught salmon species are arguably one of the best, healthiest foods we can consume. Omega-3 fatty acids help improve heart health and reduce the risk of having a heart attack. Consuming enough Omega-3 has beneficial effects on blood lipids and our overall cholesterol health profile.
Brook Trout
Brook trout live in the cold, clean water of most untouched wilderness areas. If water conditions ever change, even a little, the brook trout disappears due to pollution or other causes. Maybe the fish we’re doing most caught-and-released is also a treat on the grill.
Pacific Sardines
Sardines are a good source of vitamin B-12, calcium, phosphorus, and omega-3 fatty acids which, due to their anti-inflammatory properties, help prevent heart problems and other cardiovascular diseases.
The Pacific sardines were almost endangered in the 1950s but these delightful tiny fish have bounced back and are considered a delight in tomatoes, garlic, and olive oil.
As a regular meal, these types of fish can also help to strengthen bones, boost the immune system, improve insulin resistance, and revitalize the skin.
Walleye Fish
You might haven’t had lunch beside a shore until you had walleye. These types of fish are healthier depending on the waters from which they are obtained. Imagine a direct journey to some of North America’s wildest waters and Canadian Shield Lakes.
Walleye is a formidable protein source that is necessary for the building and repair of all body parts. It is also enriched with omega-3 fatty acids, a type of healthy fats that help maintain a healthy heart and are beneficial for the development of the brain.
Walleye also has a high source of vitamin D, which combines with calcium to maintain healthy, strong bones.

We Explain What is Fly Fishing: For Beginners ~ FOR EVERYONE
What Is Fly Fishing? Fly fishing is a method of catching fish using artificial flies, usually lightweight lures. These are cast using a fly rod and reel as well as a specialized weighted line. As an angling method popular among anglers, it’s also used in both freshwater and saltwater although the techniques used differ depending on the type of habitat (e.g., small streams, lakes and ponds, open seas, bays and estuaries, and large rivers).
Fish Species Caught Using the Method
Fly fishing is versatile in the sense that it can catch a wide range of species in freshwater and saltwater conditions. The species include trout, salmon, and grayling, which are considered as the main catch, as well as for bass, pike, carp, and panfish. The marine species that can also be caught with fly fishing techniques are snook, redfish, striped bass, and tarpon.
But you must also point it out because it is the effectiveness of fly fishing that there are also many unintended species caught. These include rudd, bream, and chub, mainly when trout is the intended target.
Fly fishing can also be used in catching larger predatory saltwater fish, including marlin, tuna, and wahoo, even sharks. The advancements in fly fishing technology, particularly lighter yet stronger rods and reels, make such target species possible.
Tips for Getting Started
Fly fishing has a graceful beauty about it, from the time the fly is cast to the time when the fish is caught. But it isn’t something that you can take up and be good at right away! Your success as a fly fishing enthusiast party depends on the preparatory steps you take.
Participate In A Class
You will find plenty of establishments, such as fishing shops, sporting goods stores, and community colleges, which offer fly fishing classes. You can also search Orvis since it offers free classes in numerous states. The classes include lectures and hands-on instructions about flies, lines, and knots, as well as casting techniques.
If you can’t find an Orvis class in your area, you can go for the next best thing: The Orvis Guide to Beginning Fly Fishing: 101 Tips for the Absolute Beginner. It’s like being in class but in the comfort of your own home.

This Is How You Keep Tropical Fish From Breeding: MUST WATCH
Tropical fish can breed like rabbits! While it might look like a good thing, it isn’t for many reasons. The tank can become crowded, resulting in a wide range of issues.
From putting undue stress on the fish to breed prematurely to giving them a reason to fight over space, food, and air. Indeed, a full tank isn’t a conducive place for your fish!
You will also be spending more time cleaning the tank and changing its filter, as well as spend more money on food and filters. More fish in the tank, more mess to clean up. (Use the right tools when cleaning up the mess, too, such as the AquaticHI 5 in 1 Multi-Function Aquarium/Fish Tank Cleaning Tool)
Multi-Function Tank Cleaning Tool: https://amzn.to/2uHIIk6
Fortunately, there are easy yet effective ways of preventing your tropical fish from breeding!
Place Either Male or Female Fish
It takes a male and female to breed and so it makes sense not to put them together in one tank. You will be able to pick either a male or female fish to put in an aquarium but not both sexes.
Your choice will depend on whether a male fish or a female fish has the appearance you want. Male guppies, for example, maybe more desirable as pets because of their multiple colors in spots, stripes, or splashes than the gray-colored female guppies.
If your tank already has male and female fish of the same species, you should separate them. You may also want to rethink getting female fish because they may already be pregnant when you bought them, thus, defeating your purpose.
Place Different Fish Species
Fish aren’t known to interbreed (i.e., breed with another species), so it also makes sense to put different fish species in your tank. You should also consider getting solitary fish, so there’s no risk of it becoming lonely in its tank.
If you’re getting two of the same schooling species, check that they have the same gender.
Change the Tank Conditions
Fish usually need specific tank conditions to breed, said conditions of which include water temperature, pH balance, and hardness as well as light level and amount of space.
If you know these conditions, then you can change the tank conditions to make it more uncomfortable for the fish to breed.
Keep in mind that the keywords here are “uncomfortable for breeding” since you don’t want to kill the fish by giving them less-than-optimal conditions to live.

How To Start A Fish Breeding Business
How To Start A Fish Breeding Business ~ Fish breeding can be a profitable business, but you must learn the basics before taking the plunge. The likes of neon tetras, betta fish, black mollies, Siamese fighting fish, and goldfish will bring in a nice profit because of their popularity among pet owners.
Read Up on the Subject
Your first step should be acquiring the basic knowledge about fish breeding from reading books, asking relevant questions of experienced breeders, and observing the practical procedures in breeding. You will also find plenty of online resources, including ebooks from Amazon dealing with the subject.
You should also identify the space where the aquariums will be placed, such as in your basement or a large shed.
You should decide whether you will breed fish in tanks, tubs or containers, perhaps even barrels, depending on the type of fish you’re planning on breeding and your budget for it.
You should also decide on your capital, make forecasts of income and expenses, and know the business side of fish breeding.
Know the Rules and Regulations
State governments and local municipalities usually have rules and regulations about fish breeding, especially in terms of commercial breeding in residence.
You have to know and follow them so that your fish breeding operations can continue without legal consequences.
Get a business permit and related documents, update your tax records and check with local authorities about other matters related to your planned business.
Select the Fish for Breeding
While you may want to breed Oscars at home, you may not have the expertise for it yet. You should then start with an easy-to-breed fish, such as guppies, so you have higher chances of success.
You can develop on your initial success and add more challenging species for breeding.
When choosing the species, you can adopt these steps to zero in on your target:
Speak to fish store owners about the breeding needs of various fish species, such as tank conditions and food frequency, as well as the fishes’ reproductive rates and growth rates.
Ask about the common diseases and issues experienced by the fish species during the spawning season, as well as their spawning behavior.
Once you have chosen the fish species, you can select breeding pairs.
This way, you won’t have to wait for an extended period for them to become sexually mature.
Set Up the Equipment and Supplies
Now comes the hands-on part where you have to buy and install the equipment for fish breeding purposes. The basics include:
Fish tanks or aquariums (i.e., usually separate tanks for spawning and caring for fry)
Pumps
Aeration devices
Water testing equipment
Lights
Nets
Handling and grading equipment
Heaters (Hygger Submersible Aquarium Heater)
Caves and plants where the fish can lay their eggs (CNZ Aquarium Fish Tank Green Lifelike Underwater Plastic Plant)
Hatcheries (Petzilla Aquarium Fish Breeder Box for Baby Fish Hatchery)

Stop YOUR Fish From Breeding ~ Some Excellent Tip You Can't Miss
How To Stop Fish From Breeding ~ The best way to prevent fish from breeding is to ensure that the conditions in their tank aren’t conducive to mating.
These conditions include the temperature, mineral, and pH balance of the water; the hiding and spawning places; and the type and amount of food provided to them, among others.
Indeed, changing the tank conditions is crucial in stopping fish breeding, even when it has started. But be careful about doing so since there’s a thin line between stopping fish breeding and killing the fish.
Tip: Research about the optimum conditions for breeding regarding the fish in your tank – guppies can breed in nearly any situation, but Oscar fish require specific conditions. Then, tweak these conditions, a trial-and-error method that will yield the desired results within a few tweaks.
Change The Water Conditions
Aside from separating the male and female fish, changing the water conditions should be the first step.
But don’t take drastic measures, such as lowering the water temperature by 10°C in one go, since these will agitate, if not harm, the fish within a day or two. Instead, decrease the water temperature little by little until the desired temperature to stop breeding is reached.
For example, discus and other related species usually start breeding when the water temperature ranges between 20°C and 31°C. The ideal light condition is moderate to low with a 6-7 pH level.
You can stop them from breeding by decreasing the water temperature by 3°C-5°C over seven days or so; use the Capetsma Aquarium Thermometer to ensure accuracy.
Think about changing the pH level and light conditions, too. But a lower water temperature usually does the trick since fish breed in near-ideal conditions – even a single aspect being off will stop breeding.
Change The Food
Of course, feeding the fish with pelleted fish food and/or other staple food is still a must, as well as feeding the fish with the right amount and frequency for good health.
But be sure to withhold different food types that encourage spawning, especially adding other food that results in an enriched diet.
For this reason, don’t feed fish with live foods like fruit flies, mosquito larvae, whole small fish, earthworms, live crickets, and aquarium snail.
Don’t also feed sexually mature fish with adult brine shrimp and thawed beef heart, especially Oscar fish, since these make for an enriched diet.

Don't Like Fish? Learn How To Start Eating Fish By WATCHING THIS VIDEO
How To Start Eating Fish? Just because you’re vegetarian doesn’t mean you’d disregard harmless meats that can give nutrients to your body.
Fish can be used in many diets because they’re low-fat and rich in protein, which basically can give you energy throughout the day and firm your muscles.
Eating fish can be part of Healthy Habits too, as many fitness experts are recommending that we should partake fish at least twice a week.
It’s a challenge for most devoted vegetarians, but the fact that fish meals can balance our body nutrients sounds like a good idea.
Fish, compared to poultry and farm meats, has a mild texture and almost tasteless flavor. But usually, it all depends on how you can make a masterpiece out of fish ingredients.
If you are never going to be a fish lover, then why not start with some popular mild-taste fishes and cook it the way you want it to?
For some advice on how you can get into the road to seafood bliss, then you might want to consider these.
Trying Out The “Less” Fish
You can always try out fish with a less fishy taste. For instance, salmon and flounder are less oily fish and have a mild flavor, while tilapia is boneless and known to be the chicken breast of the sea.
Trying these fish won’t harm your taste buds because all of them have neutral flavors and what’s the best int them is they can provide a rich amount of omega-3 and protein. You can experiment with the seasoning if you want or you can also try some alternatives listed below.
Try Shrimp And Crustaceans
If there are any in-demand seafood orders, then shrimp and crustaceans might have won the award. They are filled with sweetness and they can be cooked in versatile ways without compromising their natural flavors. If they are readily peeled, it will lessen the “gross” factor. You can also try it out with some seafood options like scallops and oysters, which also has a naturally sweet flavor.

How To Increase Breeding Of Oscar Fish In Aquarium: MUST WATCH BEFORE BREEDING
How To Increase Breeding Of Oscar Fish In Aquarium ~ Breeding Oscar fish (Astronotus ocellatus) in an aquarium can be challenging because of their large size, territorial nature, and aggressive behavior during the spawning season. Fortunately, it’s possible by providing them with the right spawning conditions and the proper care for their fry.
Acquire a Breeding Pair
The chance of successful breeding of Oscars increases with buying a proven breeding pair from the pet store. Yes, a breeding pair is expensive, but it’s more convenient since there’s less waiting time involved.
Take note that Oscars reach maturity when they are about 14 months old, while many mature Oscars will not spawn until they are at least 24 months old.
But if you’re willing to wait, you can get six young Oscars, place them in a single aquarium and allow them to form their pairs.
Once two Oscars have become a pair, they should be removed from the aquarium and placed in a separate tank. Breeding Oscars can become aggressive against other fish because of their highly territorial nature; otherwise, they likely will not spawn as well as expected.
Ensure the Right Tank Conditions
Keep in mind that Oscars are large fish, with many of them growing to a length of six inches. The spawning tank must then be large enough to accommodate the breeding pair and give them ample room.
We suggest a 70-gallon, a 90-gallon, or a 125-gallon tank depending on the actual size of your breeding pair.
Remember, too, that a separate tank will likely be needed if the fry will be hatched and raised separately from their parents. In this case, a 55-gallon tank will suffice.
The tank should also have a glass cover with a heavyweight, such as a brick or a potted plant, to protect the Oscars. The tank’s overhead light should also have protection against water splashes.
Other Crucial Tank Conditions Are:
The filtration system should be sufficient to handle the enormous waste produced by the breeding pair during the spawning season. An under gravel filter combined with a large canister filter and trickle filters is a good start.
Increase the water temperature to between 82°F and 85°F. Large heaters (i.e., not less than five watts) are needed for this purpose; be sure to protect the heaters from attacks by Oscars (e.g., use adhesive tabs, PVC tubes, or sponge rubber).
Use either soft acidic water or hard alkaline water in the tank. Oscars are native to Central America, where their natural habitats are either of these water types.
Change the water partially – no more than 25 to 25% at a time – once a week or twice a week since even the multiple filters are unable to take the load.
Provide the breeding pair with plenty of durable hiding places. Skip the plants since these will not last – place large rocks, large-diameter PVC pipe, and clay flowerpots in the tank instead.
The tank bottom should also have a large, wide flat rock about 8-12 inches in diameter.

Why Do You Have An Odor After Eating Fish? Fish has high nutritional value as it contains sufficient levels of proteins, which are necessary for numerous bodily functions, and omega-3 essential fatty acids. But it cannot also be denied that it can cause body odor after it has been consumed, whether raw or cooked, especially in susceptible individuals. For those who are wondering what causes such an odor, and how can it be minimized or prevented, here is a short read for you.
It’s in the Fish’s Natural Physiology
The fish smell, well, fishy because of their unique natural physiology. Fish live in the open ocean, where it’s approximately 3% by weight. Still, the optimum level of dissolved minerals in their cells is less than 1%, a fluid imbalance that fish addresses by filling their cells with amines and amino acids. These counteract the seawater’s saltiness and, thus, allow them to live in such a salty environment.
The most commonly used of these amines and amino acids is trimethylamine oxide (TMAO). It converts into trimethylamine (TMA) when the fish dies. The chemical conversion is facilitated by the natural decaying process, particularly by the action of enzymes in the fish and environmental bacteria. Once TMAO is converted into TMA, the characteristic fishy smell of, well, dead fish becomes more and more pronounced.
It’s Your Body’s Physiology, Too
Your body also reacts to the food eaten, and fish consumption is among the most significant in terms of body odor. It is essential to note that it isn’t your sweat that makes you smell because it doesn’t have a scent. It’s essentially just a combination of water and electrolytes.
Instead, it’s about the chemical interactions between the bacteria in your skin and the secretions of your skin. When you eat fish, your digestive system breaks it down and, in the process, cause by-products to be secreted. In turn, these by-products react with the bacteria on your skin, and you may have a slightly fishy smell. You will find, fortunately, that it doesn’t stay long, and you can remove it by brushing your teeth and taking a bath.
But there’s a metabolic disorder that causes noticeable body odor after seafood and fish consumption, and it’s known as trimethylaminuria. In people with trimethylaminuria, their bodies can’t break down TMA. So body odor appears a few hours after fish consumption. While it’s an uncommon disorder, it’s reasonably easy to manage by adopting these steps.
Avoid Seafood And Fish
It is an obvious suggestion, but it can also become problematic, considering that seafood and fish have high nutritional value. Fortunately, there’s a solution: Take fish oil supplements, such as Viva Naturals Omega 3 Fish Oil, which provides essential fatty acids, among others.
