yet another ktm 790 adventure not starting - #4 -start - no start - start
so, it's been a few days and a friend came over to the house with diagnostic tools to test bike and he discovered that barometric manifold intake pressure and barometric pressure differed. so, we replaced map sensor and hoping that maybe that fixed issue. we also removed boosterplug, since that tries to enrich fuel mixture and clearly fools bike into thinking temp is lower. after replacing map sensor and removing boosterplug, bike appeared to successfully start repeatedly. i decided to wait a couple of days and retest to confirm whether map sensor fixed issue. well, it doesn't appear that it did. see video.
this video is two days after replacing map sensor and not starting bike. in video when i try to start 790, it immediately started. when i cycled ignition and tried to start again, it didn't start, even with throttle wide open and then it did start by holding open throttle. wt...

interestingly, today -day 3, the bike starts. the main difference is that i held the throttle open. i feel like i've done that before and it didn't start. how come it started today?? dunno. i also allowed whiny noise (fuel pump priming?) to accidently cycle twice. did that do it? probably not. i went out and rode bike for about 150 miles to drain fuel and fill tank with different fuel. i bet that it starts tomorrow.

yet another ktm 790 adventure not starting
so, my 2020 790 rally bike, with over 15k miles, went nearly 13k mile with absolutely no starting issues. since new, the bike was decatted, sc project exhaust, boosterplug and lithium battery installed. around 8-9k miles, i added rottweiler intake. there are many, many other mods.
then inexplicably, the starting problems began. it first happened just before 13k miles. then it worked fine for the next 1600 miles. after that, it happened intermittently. once, after trying to start numerous times, the bike died -all electrical off and the bike wouldn't even turn on. after waiting five mins, i returned and bike promptly started. so strange.
i took the bike for service around 14.5k miles and dealer couldn't replicate issue and reset the adaptation values -something like that. bike mostly started fine, though not like it started before 13k miles. then a few days ago, bike would not start. it would crank and simply not turn over. after numerous attempts, i stopped for fear of damaging something. the next day, i tried and bike started first try. the day after that, she started on first crank. previously, i never waited for fuel pump priming to complete. i read today, that perhaps, it may help to wait. historically, i turn key and hit start button. from today onwards, i'll wait and see if that helps.
i traveled for a few days and returned and again, bike won't start. ktm knows about his problem and won't anything about it. god, please save me from ever buying another ktm.
