Dusk over Hildesheim - #Stellarium simulation, time-lapse 150x
Position: N 52°08'11.3“, E 9°54'44.5“ (#Hildesheim, Panoramaweg)
Date & Time: 2016 Dec 03, 14:00 - 18:00 CET (UTC+1)
Music: Jason Farnham, Wedding Invitation
Enjoy looking in several different directions around Hildesheim Panoramaweg, then - accompanied by a beautiful piece of music - watch the sun setting and the "blue hour" with Venus, Mars, and the waxing crescent moon in full length until complete darkness.
Watch this video in Full HD resolution (1080p) and full screen mode for best viewing experience.
The moon is enlarged 4x for better visibility.
Some relevant times:
15:24 Moon's meridian passage (waxing crescent, age 04d)
16:11 Sunset
16:51 End of civil twilight
17:34 End of nautical twilight
18:15 End of astronomical twilight, complete darkness
The whole sky is artificially produced by Stellarium, the open source planetarium software available on www.stellarium.org.
I created the hi-res (16k pixels) landscape used in this simulation from a series of 227 photos taken on 2016 Aug 18 in Hildesheim, assembled and fitted together with Hugin, the open source panorama creation software.
The illumination of the landscape according to daylight, twilight, and night is fully handled by Stellarium automatically.

Zwecks besserer Sichtbarkeit ist der Mond 4x vergrößert.
Einige relevante Zeitpunkte:
15:24 Meridiandurchgang des Mondes (Alter 04d)
16:11 Sonnenuntergang

DépêcheMath - Mandelbrot sequence f₀(z) = 0; fₙ₊₁(z) = (fₙ(z))² + z without subtitles
Animated development of the "Mandelbrot" sequence f₀(z) = 0; fₙ₊₁(z) = (fₙ(z))² + z without mathematical subtitles.
Music: Doug Maxwell, Cast of Pods
This animation covers the recursively defined sequence of polynomials f₀(z) = 0; fₙ₊₁(z) = (fₙ(z))² + z which is closely related to the famous Mandelbrot fractal set. Its development is depicted by coloring the points of the complex plane according to the values of fₙ(z). See the legend in the lower left corner for how to translate these colors to complex values or halt this animation at f₁(z) = z which is the identity map and study the correspondence between colors and positions in the complex plane.
Speaking in terms of dynamical systems theory, we discuss this recursion not in the dynamic plane but rather in the parameter plane and study the sequence members as functions of this parameter.
Animation imaging was created using "Complex Plane Viewer" (CPV), a program written by myself for visualizing complex functions, developed within the Lazarus IDE.

Altenwalde Heath is a nature reserve and recreation area in the SW part of Cuxhaven (Lower Saxony, Germany) with a military past, commemorated by the brown painted tank tread to the right of the scenic bench.
After introducing Altenwalde Heath and turning around the observer's position in order to look in several different directions the decline of the sun and the progress of the evening is simulated until after nautical dusk. At times, the sky objects and landscape label (gazetteer) features of Stellarium are demonstrated. Watch the planets Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn appear during twilight and Venus and the waxing crescent moon (age 04d) setting when night falls upon Altenwalde Heath.
Watch this video in Full HD resolution (1080p) and full screen mode for best viewing experience.
The moon is enlarged 4x for better visibility.
Some relevant times:
21:46 Sunset (Venus appearing already before sunset)
22:34 End of civil twilight
23:50 End of nautical twilight
Astronomical twilight lasts the remainder of the night, no complete darkness
00:12 (Jul 18) Moonset
The whole sky is artificially produced by Stellarium, the open source planetarium software available on www.stellarium.org.
