I had a wonderful weekend trip to the west of Sligo, about a 30 minute trip from the Sligo Town. Very relaxing stay in a glamping pod. I know, I just wanted to relax this weekend and watch the rugby. Waking up to the beautiful Keem Bay at dawn is a spectacular sight. A bit of uncertainty today about what to do. So I climbed the mountain to see Europe's highest sea cliffs before the drive home. This drive was amazing, mountains, lakes, coastline, just breathtaking. I got a couple beaches in too. Keem Bay was the destination for my camp. Keem Bay, at the western end of Achill Island, is one of the most picturesque bays in Ireland. It is accessible by road over a twisting clifftop route on the side of Croaghaun mountain. Keem Bay is virtually uninhabited (the only building is a former coastguard station) and provides a peaceful and magnificent retreat from the 21st century. At the heart of Keem Bay is the beautiful fine sandy beach. This strand is bordered on two sides by cliffs; to the east by the slopes of Croaghaun mountain, and to the west by a spar called Moyteoge. On my own for this trip. 2 Days exploring County Mayo in the west of Ireland. Beautiful beaches, amazing coastal cliffs and huge mountain drives made up this trip. Dún Briste is one of the best sights I've sen in Ireland, absolutely gorgeous, I hope the video does it justice. The drive to Achill and Keem was unbelievable. Enjoy! Loved every minute of it! Streedagh Strand is an impressive 3km long sandy beach located on the north western shore of a sandbar linking Streedagh Point to an area known as Connor’s Island. This is an exposed beach with reef breaks which create ideal surfing conditions all year round. This linear coastal route takes the walker along a narrow strip of Atlantic coastline and provides access to various rocks embedded with fossils as well as the famous Spanish Armada shipwreck site. Three ships belonging to the Spanish Armada were wrecked on Streedagh Beach in 1588. The armada was amassed to attack and if possible wipe out the English navy fleet. However subsequent to the decisive battle of Gravelines, a battle which the Spanish lost, the fleet fled north rounding Scotland and Ireland in the hope of returning to Spain. The ships were attempting to shelter from a ferocious Atlantic storm, however, given the severity of the weather they came aground and were wrecked. The sailors that landed at Streedagh were massacred by English troops garrisoned in Sligo, however, some survived through a mixture of good fortune and assistance from some of the Irish chieftains of the area. Captain De Cuellar’s account of his experience of these events is an extremely significant piece of social history and his epic journey back to his homeland is commemorated to this day as part of the Celtic Fringe Festival, held in Grange each September. The carboniferous limestone rocks at Streedagh contain many species of fossil coral. Zaphrentis are particularly common here, formed about four hundred million years ago. My first trip in the new car. Caves of Keash, also known as the Keash Caves or the Caves of Keshcorran, are a series of limestone caves located near the village of Keash, County Sligo, Ireland. The caves are situated on the west side of Keshcorran Hill and consist of sixteen simple chambers, some interconnecting. What is the history of the caves in Kesh? Caves of Kesh - Wikipedia The caves have been used by man over several millennia, and it has long been suggested that they were the site of ancient religious practice or gathering such as Lughnasadh. Excavations carried out in the early 20th century, particularly those by Robert Francis Scharff, discovered significant animal remains. A rich body of folklore surrounds the Kesh Caves, in which they are depicted as 'Otherworldly' places and home to supernatural individuals. The first literary reference to the caves is contained in the story 'Cath Maige Mucrama', which relates the birth of Cormac Mac Airt, legendary high-king of Ireland. The area around the caves is one of the richest places in Ireland for archeology and the prehistoric Keshcorran passage tomb crowns the summit of the mountain. Human remains and animal bones of cave bears, arctic lemmings, reindeer, and Irish elk have been found here, some dating back 10,000 years.

What a trip, 2 days with my cousin exploring Donegal, it was magical, seriously. Donegal has become a favorite county of mine now. Gweedore (Irish: Gaoth Dobhair. My word what a drive. We seen all the beaches in the south of Donegal, it was time to see the more rugged parts. Slieve Liag was amazing, the video does not do it justice. The roads were so smooth it was a delight to drive on them. The drive through the mountains was scary on the way to the waterfall. Again at the waterfall, my video did not do it justice. Another stunning hike. this time in the lowlands. I explored Lough Gill again and wasn't disappointed. Lunch on the Lough is a must-do for everyone. The best surfing beach in Europe was pretty quiet today but it didn't lack the quality views. This was a stunning hike, I wish the camera could have picked it up better. Classibawn Castle looks better the further you are away because you can get a huge Benbulbin behind it. Just a thought.
