Just because you didn't grow up on a homestead or have never worked on a farm doesn't mean that you aren't capable or ready to start homesteading. Like anything, if you're willing to put forth the effort of learning and embracing the work it takes to homestead, you can absolutely be a successful homesteader! With the ever-exciting life and chaos on a homestead also comes having to deal with death. This was a hard one for us... As much as we all want them to live forever, animals come to an end, and often, our choices can affect that chapter and how it closes. We share our grief and what we've learned from having to make end-of-life decisions for our animals in the past and present. It's not a fun topic (that's for sure!), but it's one we all have to face at some point if we choose this way of life, a life full of the joys animals bring to our everyday. Goodbye store-bought fertilizers & soil bags. Hello homemade, nutrient-dense goodness! Even if you don't have chickens or ducks, there are multiple ways you can feed your soil organically for the season-changing garden reset. And if you're like me, we had to learn what actually grew in the colder months of the year and quickly discovered how delicious it all can be!
