Face Your Online Business Challenges And Win
Face Your Online Business Challenges And Win
If you remember from the other day, I said, we're going to go see Marshall Sylver's turning point in Vegas this weekend.
We've got a few hours before we fly and I was reading a piece by Bruce Barton.
Now if you don't know who Bruce Barton was... He was one of the best ad men that ever lived. Absolutely fantastic writer and his stamp is on a lot of famous copywriters. Even some that probably don't know it.
A guy named Robert Collier, who wrote the Robert Collier Letter Book, and also wrote several books besides that on motivation and stuff. He actually worked with Bruce Barton way, way back. I'll read anything by Bruce Barton just because it'll teach you how to write better.
I first learned about him in a book called The Seven Lost Secrets Of Success. It was written by Joe Vitale. I heard about that from a guy named Ben Settle, who is one of the premiere email trainers that there is. He's not for everybody, but I love his stuff.
So if you're looking for a good guy to learn about email and other good things, check out Ben Settle.
Anyway, this piece I was reading by Barton was talking about how everybody's got something. He gave a couple of quotes about how awful life was, and how people would never get along and everything. These were quotes by 2 famous people.
And he said, "Look, these guys you would think had everything going for them. But here they are writing these quotes that sound like someone who's, never gonna amount to anything, They're such a loser."
The first one was by Abraham Lincoln and the second quote happened to be by Napoleon.
I say quotes, but it's probably not something that later on in their life, once they got their stuff together, they wanted anybody to even see or hear. But there it is.
It just goes to show you that no matter who you are, you're going to have challenges. And no matter how easy it looks for someone else, they've got their own thing going on that you're never going to know about.
It's not at all like they put out on Facebook. Talking about the greatest things in their lives and nothing ever goes wrong.
The truth is, everyone has their challenges and they're going to have to deal with them at one time or another.
So when you're looking to make yourself better and improve yourself so that you can get further along in your business, always remember. No matter what it is you've got to face, it's likely someone else has already faced it and won.
You might even be first, and you can show everybody else how to do it. There's no sense getting down just because you've got an obstacle.
Because I'm here to tell you, being in business and trying to make your own way is not going to solve all your problems. What it'll do is introduce you to so many new problems you never even knew you had.
I'm talking about just the way you are on a daily basis, and how you could be better. I guess that's the ancillary benefit of being in business. You must become a better person in order to succeed. So work on that.
I'm going to go ahead and do few things before I get ready to get on my flight. I hope you're having a fantastic day. It's beautiful here in Reno - Sparks.
The dogs next door are letting everybody know how they feel about the siren going on in the background. One of the joys of doing things unscripted.
All right, that's what I've got for today. I'll see you tomorrow. I'm out.
P.S. Got a challenge with your online business you don't know how to handle? I got you covered. Mosey on over here and check this out...

Are You Protected Online?
Hey, how's it going? I hope you're doing well today.
Had to come down here to the other end of the lot because I got a radio station playing in the background. I don't want to get any copyright things going on. You know what I'm saying?
Anyway, it's beautiful down here in Dayton, Texas. I'm having a good time while I'm waiting for them to unload my trailer. But I was thinking just a little while ago about credit cards because I've got Amazon Audible.
If you don't have an Audible account and you spend a lot of time driving, you probably want to get one because you can listen to all kinds of awesome books. And it's not really that expensive. Plus, you get a lot of good information.
But anyway, the reason I was thinking about it, they sent me a message that said the credit card didn't run this month. I know immediately what it is, because Rockit had her credit card compromised.
Now I know this was done in Arkansas. I went to Arkansas late last summer or something like that. And I'm thinking maybe when we went down there someone kept the credit card information or something. Or it could've just been something online. I don't know.
But the thing is, if you're doing a lot of stuff online like I do, and if you're going to be in business online, you're going to be buying all kinds of stuff. You've gotta be careful about the credit card you use and how you set them out there.
Because I have had my cards, whether it's a bank card or a credit card, compromised three or four times in the past... I'd say year, year and a half. That's a lot if you ask me for one person. Most people you ask them and they're like, "No, I don't have any problem at all." And that's the way it ought to be.
But the thing is, when you're doing all kinds of stuff online, especially in your affiliate marketing business, you really want to have a credit card that you use only for that. It would be a good idea.
And if you don't have that, or if you don't want to do that, I would say the number one thing is you probably don't want to use anything attached to your bank account.
Because credit card companies, they'll take the charges off and everything, but banks, if they pay the money, it comes out of your account and then it's gone forever. At least that's the way it used to be.
The only good news is that both credit cards and banks and credit unions are really good lately at picking up on unauthorized charges. For instance, here's a Walmart in Arkansas. They're trying to charge our card and we live in Reno.
So how likely is it that she just used this card in Arkansas? It doesn't make sense. So they refused the charges and everything, so that's good.
It's just a drag having to get a new card and everything all the time.
Basic online safety when it comes to cards: Don't use the bank card. Use a specific card only for online marketing charges if you can. If not, just keep a good eye on them. That's all I got.
I'll talk to you tomorrow. Have a good one.
I'm out.

Do This Before Looking For Help
Greetings from the Joshua Tree National Scenic Byway in Arizona.
I want to show you these Joshua trees behind me real quick. They're pretty cool. These are some pretty old trees out here.
Anyway, this is where I stopped for the night and I'm having a challenge with my electronic logging device. I'm telling you I've had it eight ways from Sunday with machines that tell you what to do and then you know, you're bound by this.
The law says the machine is what knows what's right and you don't always have a connection. Or a good enough one to where you can get things done.
Now I'm struggling with the person that is supposed to be dealing with this stuff, to help to do it and telling me I can do this. I've never been able to do it before and now I'm supposed to call a number that tells me how to do something that I already know I can't do, and I'm frustrated.
It's a drag because it seems like this year has gotten off to a rocky start. Not big things, just small things that happen that go on. You know, it's life.
Everything else though, the stuff I'm doing online. My girl Rockit, she's had some really good sales on her stuff that she does.
I just don't understand. Maybe it's the universe telling me it's time to just not do this anymore. I don't know.
I've had this in my mind for a while. I love what I do, but the truth is I want to quit it before I don't like it. You know what I mean?
I don't want to be in a position where, Oh God, I hate this so much and blah, blah. I know some people are... maybe you, are in a situation where it feels like that. I just don't want to get that way.
But the main thing I wanted to just put out in this video is this. Mostly you hear nowadays, no man is an island and you can't do everything yourself, and you've got to get a team and get a coach and a mentor and all this.
I'm here to tell you, you've got to learn to think for yourself first.
Of course there's things that you're going to need more people in, different specialists to do different things and so on.
But first, foremost, in the end, in the beginning, and always in between.
Think for yourself, then look for help.
Because you may end up in a situation like this, where you've got to have someone else help, and depend on them, and they just don't seem to be able to get things done.
I want to end on a higher note.
Just look at the scenery behind me, you know? Cause as long as there's beauty like this in the world, we can make things happen.
And if you ever forget, just take a look at some scenery like that and you'll feel better in no time.
That's all I got for right now. I'll talk to you tomorrow.
I'm out.

Focus On This When You’re Starting Out In Business
Hey again, good morning.
I just got done listening to the Tom Woods show. He's a libertarian talk show host and he's got a Phd in History.
It's very fun to listen to even if you don't agree with everything he says.
He's talking about tax rates, marginal tax rates, and how some people just elected to Congress want to raise the highest marginal rate on people who are making a bunch of money.
And it never works. It always causes things to happen that they wish didn't.
Whatever you believe about taxes isn't really the topic here. I just wanted to talk about how when I first started in business, I used to think that was a big deal.
Oh, I was so concerned with the amount of taxes I was going to pay and if I'm making X number of dollars, I'm going to have to put so much percentage of it into the tax thing.
I was very, very against any raise in any taxes for anybody.
I spent thousands of dollars structuring my first company and my second company. The first company is now no more if that tells you something.
One of the reasons is because I was too concentrated on the structure of the business. I wanted to lay the proper foundation and get everything going right.
It constantly amazes me the number of so-called gurus out there who will tell you, "Oh, you've got to set yourself up right. Because I was making all this money and all of a sudden I had to pay this huge tax bill. Lucky for me, I pulled a rabbit out of a hat. I sold a bunch of stuff and I made an extra million dollars so I can pay all those taxes."
I don't know if that's all true. It sounds kinda like a fairy tale to me. Honestly. Dude is smart enough to make that much money, but so freaking stupid he doesn't know he's going to have to pay taxes on it?
Well, let's just say that it happened and they're all telling the truth. Here's the thing. Don't worry about it right now.
You can fill out some paperwork and get yourself set up as an LLC or whatever you choose to set yourself up as, but I'm telling you, it's not going to matter.
You can start out as a sole proprietorship and yes, you will be taxed at the highest rate, and you're all connected to all your stuff. Then if your business gets in trouble, they're going to come after you personally and oh my goodness. By the way, they're going to do that anyway. Any good lawyer will try.
The point I'm trying to make is you don't make any money yet. You have nothing to protect. You've got nothing whatsoever to worry about, except for one single thing. That is making as much money as you possibly can, as quickly as you can make it.
That is exactly where your focus should be (and nowhere else) when you first start out.
Everybody loves to talk about a legacy and all that blah, blah, blah, but it is BS on a level that's almost unbelievable.
If someone is talking to you about that crap, what they're doing is they're obviously playing only on your emotions, getting you to think totally about the future when you're not even bringing in dollar one.
So here's the thing. First, last, and always. Earning money, making money, making sales. You're building your business, increasing profits and reducing costs. It's Number One, and never goes away - bringing in money.
So if you spend $5,000 or whatever it is on setting up your corporate entity, that is $5,000 you do not have to advertise and test things and keep your business afloat until you're making a consistent income.
You see, what happens is, you can spend all your money on stuff that doesn't matter. Meanwhile you're not making any sales. And even though you have this beautiful structure for your company, it doesn't matter, cause you're bankrupt.
So keep that in mind whenever you're thinking about taxes. You should concentrate on making as much money as possible, as quickly as possible.
I guarantee you, when you start making 5, 10, $15,000 a month, you'll remember to make sure that you set up your taxes correctly at that point. And you'll be fine.
That's all I got for today. I'll talk to you tomorrow.
I'm out.

How To Handle Any Challenge
All right.
Doing a mobile update today. This is, after all, the mobile command center.
I don't know how the audio is going to work out. I've got it recording through the Bluetooth.
I know a lot of people are a little freaky about doing a video while you're driving but I am not. I'm hands free.
See? Both hands on the wheel. No big deal. So I'm perfectly safe.
Lately I've been talking about getting things done, planning ahead, rolling with changes and so on.
Well, it makes it a lot easier to adapt to changes when you've got a plan and you've got everything set up.
The reason I bring this up is we got probably four to six inches of snow in the Reno-Sparks area last night. And I've been talking with Rockit for at least a good month and a half, (okay, three to five weeks) about getting a shovel. Cause I don't know how much it's going to snow.
We're living in a different area now and well, I didn't make sure that it got done and she didn't make sure that it got done.
So we got all that snow and I plowed my driveway with a dust pan. Which is now probably a snow pan because it's moved far more snow than dirt. Which is cool.
It took a little bit longer than it might've, but it wasn't as awful as it might sound. It's like a three car driveway or whatever. So anyway, there's that.
Then with the snow being all over the road and everything, Rockit wasn't sure she wanted to come down and take the car back. So it turned out I was going to leave the car where I pick up my truck.
Well, it turns out that we have not taken steps to get a replacement for our extra key that I've been talking about.
I know that's been a good couple of months. Anyway, that's what my brain is telling me.
So once again, it's in the same situation, two the things that did not happen that we planned for, but did not ensure, and it caused what could have been a much bigger hassle than it ever needed to be.
So even without the shovel, there was the key. Now we were talking about something else. Oh, windshield washer for the truck. I just filled it up. So this one, it's in that stage where it's not critical yet, so we've got time to get it. It's just one of one of those things.
But this is why you make a plan. Cause your plan will not ever go exactly as you think.
But if you take the steps before hand to make sure that you've got things to take care of contingencies which could come up, then you're good to go.
I told Rockit, she goes down to Lowe's or Walmart or whatever today. I bet she'll find out that they have a very small selection of shovels, because everybody else who knew they needed a shovel and didn't get one, it's going to go out and buy one today.
So there it is.
Look ahead and get the stuff you need beforehand and that way you won't be caught behind the power curve like I was this morning.
That's all I got for right now. I hope you're having a fantastic day wherever you are.
I'm out.

Rolling With The Punches
Good morning, even though it's almost afternoon. Going to have to make this a quick one today because the trip I'm on ended up being very weird.
I had to change my appointment times and it changed my entire way of going out and coming back.
So this is probably going to be the best time that I've got to talk to you. And because of that, what I'm going to talk about is adapting to what comes up.
You never know what's going to happen.
No matter how much you plan, no plan ever survives contact with the enemy.
You're always going to have to make adjustments and tweak things to make them the way you want them.
Sometimes it never gets that way.
Sometimes it just becomes a test like I talked about in the past and that's cool.
You just have to be adaptable and roll with the punches.
Because if you don't, you're going to end up frustrated and angry all the time and that's not going to help you at all.
Adapt to the changes and use what you're given at the time.
For instance, right now I'm doing this even though it's only going on noon.
It's probably the best time. I'm going to have until midnight to make the video, but in order to get it done, in order to make sure I have it finished today, I'm going to do it now.
It might be shorter, might be a little bit quicker, a little less planned, but that's cool.
These are supposed to be off the cuff anyway, just another little slice of life.
So I hope you're having a fantastic day where you are, and adapt to what comes your way.
In the end you'll get to where you want to go.
That's all I got for now.
I'll talk to you tomorrow. I'm out.

What's The Rush?
What's the rush?
Hey, what's up?
I was wondering today, does anybody do the speed limit anymore? Anywhere? Ever? For any reason?
I don't get how fast people drive. Don't get me wrong. My nickname is Rebel and I don't believe in a lot of laws. I think most of them are just a bunch of BS. I think there are so many of them now that it's mind boggling to know there are so many laws.
As a matter of fact... I wish I knew the exact name of this video, but a guy did a video. He was a lawyer and he did a video about why you should never talk to the police.
The first reason he gives is, number one, it can never ever help you, but it can always lead to hurting you. Then he says, if that's not enough for you... then he goes on for another hour and a half talking to retired judges and cops and lawyers and stuff like that.
So anyway, I'm not a big fan of most laws, but when it comes to speed laws, (traffic laws) there's a really rock solid reason to have them.
For instance, if you're going through a town and the speed limit is 35 miles an hour and there's driveways and stuff for businesses, it's difficult to get out of a place like that.
When folks are coming down the road at 45, 55 miles an hour, you can't get out. You don't know how to gauge the speed of what you gotta do. And it's practically impossible, especially driving a big truck.
So in my case, a lot of times I just have to go and then people are going to have to brake. And sometimes they have to stop and wait. It just works out that way. You don't want to. But if I sit there all day waiting for people to allow me some space, it's never going to happen. At least it's very unlikely.
So that's what I'm thinking about. Why is it that people seem to be in such a hurry? You know as well as I do, most of them are not going anywhere.
What are they gonna do? Rush home and watch television or even for dinner or anything else. They drive in such a way that they may never get there, let alone on time. It's mind boggling to me.
I realize most people, all they're thinking about is getting to where they're going. But... many years ago I drove a tow, and the company I was with had a contract with the CHP for picking up fatalities.
You have to have a special type of tow business to do it. I had to pick up wrecks of people who died. And you look at it and you're thinking, "What was this person thinking", you know, before it happened, or what caused this and so on.
I'll tell you what. Picking up fatalities will get you to slow down. When you realize, I think it's at about 65 miles an hour every couple of miles an hour over that adds 10 times to the impact of a collision. Maybe it's over 75.
Anyway, If you see what happens to the average automobile at 75 miles an hour when it crashes, you really don't want to be involved.
So why do people do it? Why, if you do, why do you do it? What's that extra five miles an hour if you're just an average, you know, get a little faster speeder. What is the reason why you feel like you have to get that?
One explanation that I've heard is, it's a sense of lack. If people were dealing with a sense of abundance... "Oh, there's plenty of road." They'd let people in and they wouldn't have to speed because there's always enough time to get there. And they're not going to miss an opportunity.
They'll be a couple minutes late and everything will be fine. That's the abundance thinking. Where lack thinking is "This is my little piece of road and I have to protect it against other people because I have to get where I'm going."
So I dunno if you speed or not or whether you agree it's a sense of lack. That's your thing to think about for today and that's all I got.
Talk to you tomorrow.
I'm out.
P.S. You wouldn't have to be in a big hurry to get anywhere if you had a 24/7 biz cranking out profits for you no matter where you are.

Are You Getting Max Return From Your Marketing?
Hey, how's it going? I'm talking to you from the bunker.
I'm back off of my weird trip. I bought some stuff on Ebay the other day.
The guy was a pro seller (whatever that is). He sent me this stuff in just a few days. It was absolutely awesome.
Exactly as advertised, very quick shipping. Here's the thing, as a marketer I notice stuff.
There was nothing in the package except for what I ordered.
No thank you note, no invoice, no letter, nothing. Just here's the product, here you go.
Don't get me wrong.
I was very satisfied with what I got and I tried it and it's awesome. All good.
But the thing is as a marketer I'm wondering why didn't you put a note in there? Why not... maybe it's something a little extra. Why not... here's what you can do in the future to get more. Maybe a subscription or something. It doesn't matter.
The bottom line of it is, you did such a great job on fulfillment and yet, as a direct marketer, did not realize you could put an add on or something, a ride along inside the package to increase sales in the future.
So to me as I look at it, things remain to be seen. I might get a postcard in the mail.
Here's the thing. This guy has got my snail mail shipping address. So he now has the capability, he can send me a letter or a postcard or information on sales, whatever he's got coming on in the future.
So, okay, drop the ball on including a ride along with the initial package. Absolutely awesome fulfillment and now remains to be seen.
Will he make any hay from the fact that he now owns my snail mail address?
I kinda doubt it because just the way that I'm looking at it. But when I look at what he's doing on Ebay, his pricing and his description and taking returns on a consumable product, that's... weird.
I mean, who's going to send it back, but still all good stuff.
The way you feel very comfortable buying from him and awesome fulfillment.
As a marketer though, always be thinking after you solve that initial challenge and you're doing business with someone, what can you do to add value and increase the value of this customer to you in the future?
Because you know, if they buy stuff from you, you're improving their life too. So it's a win for everybody.
That's what I'm thinking about today. I hope you're having a fantastic day wherever you are.
That's all I got. I'm out.

Only Losers Need Accountability
Nobody is going to 'hold you accountable'.
You either take care of business, or you don't.
Cliches bother me.
Cliches, things that people say and overused, overworked terms.
Words in marketing and in other things.
But hey, this is about marketing. So that's what we're going to talk about today.
I was reading this email about a coaching group and it was talking about how they could help you do all of these things and you can meet your goals and everything.
One of the things the writer said in the email was that these people are going to hold you accountable to the goals that you claim that you wanted to achieve this year.
I just think that's stupid. It's the most asinine thing.
"We're going to hold you accountable."
What exactly does that mean?
They gonna send you to the principal's office? Are they going to mock you in front of the entire group?
"You said you were going to do this, but you didn't do it." Take away your desserts?
I don't understand how exactly they're going to hold you accountable.
From my point of view, if you didn't learn this by the time you got out of grade school (I'll even give you til high school), You might be slow.
But if you don't understand that there are certain things that you've got to do and have the discipline, the self discipline and the motivation or whatever it is you've got to have that gets you to do what you have to do.
If you don't have that, do not under any circumstances get involved in any type of business.
Because you will fail.
You can't possibly win at business if you have no self discipline.
I'm talking about having no discipline to the extent that you need someone else to hold you accountable for what you said you were going to do.
Now I don't know if your mommy is going to call you up and say:
"Hey, you really got to get up on time and you got to take this action today for your business. You promised your clients you were going to do this thing. And I realized that you don't have any self discipline and I'm holding you accountable to go and do it."
It just doesn't make any sense to me.
So if someone's going to tell me as a benefit, if they're going to hold me accountable, I really have to question what exactly it is they're offering.
I have no idea what that is, but I'd say again, if you need your mommy to call you up and hold you accountable to something, you should not be in business at all.
That's my thoughts for today.
Keep on keepin' on.
I'll talk to you later. I'm out.
