My grandma was an amazing woman. She was the best cook. You never left her house hungry. She would always give me quarters or gum from her purse. When I was little and stayed the night with them, even though they had 2 spare bedrooms, I always got to sleep between her and papa. She used to put dots of mustard on a plate and let me lick it off with my finger because I was a mustard kid. She introduced me to dipping iced oatmeal cookies into my coffee. She is the reason that I love butter brickle ice cream. I remember the smell of the Olay night cream that she used on her face every night. I remember curling up in a ball in front of fridge on the floor mat that she kept there and taking my naps because of the heat that came out from under the fridge. I remember her letting me and my sister dress up in her wigs and her bras and undies over our clothes. At Christmas time I would play with the nativity scene figurines that she kept under the tree. I used to snap beans with her and help her load the wood into the furnace house. I have so many memories of being with them. I know when Im old and my mind slips Ill forget alot of those memories but right now they are like they happened yesterday. I would give anything in the world to have one more day with her.
