Cincinnati woman allegedly made up discriminatory messages from landlord
According to a criminal complaint, an analysis of the woman's phone found that she faked text messages and a voicemail from her landlord saying in part, "I really don't want any African Americans in the house." She is charged with making a false statement to federal officers, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

CPD sergeant takes stand in day 3 of Bengals RB Joe Mixon's trial
The defense was expected to call its witnesses Wednesday, including Mixon, but the entirety of the day was taken up by the state's witness, a Cincinnati police sergeant. The sergeant took over the investigation into Mixon's case in February after charges were initially dropped before being refiled in April. Mixon allegedly waved a gun in a woman's face during a road rage incident. After the charge was refiled, Mixon appeared in court and pleaded not guilty. The charge is a first-degree misdemeanor and could carry a maximum sentence of 180 days, a maximum fine of $1000 and a maximum of five years of probation in Ohio.

Former superintendent ordered to repay $500K to school after conviction
In April, Conners was sentenced to five years of community control, a fine of $1,000 and he was banned from holding any fiduciary position or having a government contract for five years. Conners was superintendent of the school between July 2013 and March 2022, when he was fired. According to the auditor's office, the Auditor of State's Special Investigation Unit (SIU) began an investigation into Conners in May of 2018, after the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office contacted them. The investigation showed Conners' janitorial company, MC Services, was contracted by Cincinnati Technology Academy from April 2014 through July 2021.
