Russia lost 1,320 soldiers in Ukraine front on May 10-11, bringing its combat losses to 481,030 since Ukraine’s full-fledged invasion in February 2022, General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported. In a statement published on its official Facebook page, the General Staff also revealed Russia’s losses in terms of military equipment. Thus, Russia lost 15 tanks, 40 armoured combat vehicles, 55 artillery systems, 2 multiple launch rocket system, MLRS, 1 air defence system, 42 operational and tactical UAVs, 1 cruise missile, 64 vehicles and tankers, 9 special equipment during the hostilities over the past day. Moreover, over the past day, 104 combat engagements took place at the frontline, as Russia launched 7 missiles and 108 airstrikes, more than 120 attacks from multiple launch rocket system at the positions of Ukrainian troops and various settlements, according to the General Staff report. Overall, Ukrainian troops have destroyed 7,449 Russian tanks, 14,353 armoured combat vehicles, 12,442 artillery systems, 1,064 MLRS, 796 air defence systems, 349 aircraft, and 325 helicopters, 9,868 operational and tactical UAVs, 2,193 cruise missiles, 26 ships/boats, 1 submarine, 16,755 vehicles and tankers and 2,040 special equipment since the start of the war. Ukraine has recently intensified defence in northern Kharkiv region as Russia sought to open a front in that area. On Friday, Ukraine revealed that all Russian attacks on Kharkiv were repelled and there have been no losses of territory. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said his country’s forces had been ready for the attack on Kharkiv.

Russia has recently intensified attacks against Kharkiv, using missiles, glide bombs, and drones to destroy energy infrastructure and kill civilians. The officer of the sapper group, 28-year-old captain Maxim Tomko, said that the sappers are in constant tension. "We never know whether the unexploded suicide drone we are trying to disarm exploded due to a malfunction or because the Russians set it up to kill our sappers, as they claim on their television programs and “Telegram posts,” the warrior said. Get Moving Europe!” Duda also met with Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, with some crediting the meeting with helping the long-delayed vote on U.S. military aid for Ukraine. “Duda is our Republican whisperer,” Michal Baranowski, who leads the German Marshall Fund’s Poland office, told Politico. Conservative politicians close to the formerly ruling Law and Justice party and Duda played up the apparent role he had played in persuading Trump and Johnson to take a more pro-Ukraine stance. “A big round of applause for President Andrzej Duda, who has gained powerful resources to fight Russian imperialism,” said Dariusz Matecki, a lawmaker of the Sovereign Poland party allied with Law and Justice party. But others were less inclined to believe that Polish officials had such sway over U.S. politics. EU lawmaker Andrzej Halicki told Politico the idea was “nonsense.” Ahead of U.S. presidential elections later this year and a possible Trump victory, his stance on Russia and Ukraine is cause for concern in European capitals, particularly Kyiv. Trump has repeatedly said he could end Russia’s war within 24 hours if elected president, without specifying the steps for reaching a peace deal between Kyiv and Moscow. The former president “made it very clear” that he believed Ukraine “must be part of Russia,” his former advisor Fiona Hill said, according to The Guardian, citing an excerpt from a book by The New York Times reporter David Sanger.

To sustain the units fighting the war, Russia has recently relied much more on supply routes running across the occupied areas in mainland Ukraine than on the Crimea Bridge, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already repeatedly attacked. This was reported by Independent, referring to the data from the Molfar analytical firm. Maxar satellite images, analysts say, show that not a single military freight train passed along the Crimea Bridge railway track for the past three months. It is noted that the use of the bridge significantly decreased after July 17, 2023, when Ukrainian naval drones carrying explosives attacked it, blowing up a section of the roadway and the railway track. According to the head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vasyl Maliuk, until recently, Russia used to have more than 40 trains carrying weapons run along the bridge on a daily basis. Now traffic has reduced to four passenger and one freight train per day, he clarified. At the same time, there is a surge in cargo shipments through Taman of Russia’s Krasnodar Territory. According to analysts, Ukraine should rationally use Western weapons and concentrate strikes on the route through Melitopol, Berdyansk, and Mariupol, where Russia is now laying new railway lines to connect these occupied regions with Crimea and Russia’s mainland. The invaders want to complete the construction by the end of the year, so that the new network will connect more districts of the temporarily occupied part of Donetsk region. Russian officials have claimed that Ukraine attacked Crimea peninsula with US-made Army Tactical Missile Systems, ATACMS, overnight on Monday in an attempt to knock out Kremlin’s defence capabilities. Kremlin claimed that six ATACMS were shot down over the Russian-annexed Crimea peninsula. Sergei Aksyonov, the Russian-backed head of Crimea, said ATACMS missiles were shot down over the peninsula. The Russian Defence Ministry also reported the downing of six ATACMS, without specifying the location where they were shot down. "Ten Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, six ATACMS tactical missiles manufactured by the United States and two guided 'Hammer' aircraft bombs manufactured by France were shot down by air defences," the ministry said. "Last night, Russian authorities activated air defenses over Dzhankoy and Simferopol as Ukrainian militants conducted a missile strike at the Republic of Crimea," Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the We Are Together with Russia movement, wrote on Telegram. He claimed that Ukrainian troops used several ATACMS ballistic missiles in an attempt to attack civilians on the peninsula. Meanwhile, Russian MP Leonid Ivlev said Ukraine struck at airbases in Crimea with 12 ATACMS, and added that attacks could increase ahead of President Vladimir Putin's inauguration for a new term that is due to place next week. "Their target is airfields. The missiles were destroyed by air defences," Ivlev told RIA news agency. He said Ukraine was seeking to penetrate air defence shield over Crimea and strike at strategically important facilities. Pro-Russian Rybar Telegram channel claimed 30 missiles had been fired at Crimea in recent days. Pentagon revealed last week that President Joe Biden secretly approved the transfer of the long-range ATACMS missiles in February for use inside Ukrainian territory.
