As 1 cardinal enjoys a perch on top of the tree stump, 3 blue jays splash around and bathe in the bird bath nearby. The trail camera caught some activity when a deer, a raccoon and a fox passed by the water hole. The deer strolled by during the daytime, and a raccoon snooped in the background after dark. Then later on, a fox came for a quick drink, showed off a bit by jumping up on the tree stump, before exiting to the left. Several raccoons descend upon the water hole late at night, and havoc ensues. One even tries to climb up onto the birdbath, but epically fails. A suspicious looking fox wanders in to the Tree Stump Store, and before you know it he grabs a piece of bread and quickly heads for the exit. Luckily we saw him in the act and called the police, who at this moment are in high pursuit of the shoplifter. More details on this story on the 10 o'clock news later tonight. While doing another pit fire burn, I spotted a deer in the backyard, so i ran inside to fill up a pitcher of water to put in the birdbath out in the back. While walking to the birdbath and back, the deer stood there and watched me in a friendly way. At one point, I think he even nodded to me in approval, "Thanks for the water, dude!" After dark one night, a hungry fox stops by the water hole and quickly smells a tasty snack nearby. His nose leads him to the top of the stump where he finds a few delicious snacks. He immediately grabs one and takes it down to the ground to start chomping on it. During his snack, two times he hears a snapping twig in the distance which startles him. But his hunger takes over both times and he continues snacking on his treat. If you look closely, you can see a few lightning bugs glowing behind him.
