CPAC RECAP: It Was A Small Crowd, And They STILL Love Trump
Yes, the crowd was smaller. But that had nothing to do with former President Donald Trump. Don't listen to a single word the MSM says about Trump fatigue....it was not apparent at CPAC, and he's not the reason the crowds didn't show.
The Trump support is still there, still strong and not wavering. Watch!

CPAC 2023 - Where Were The Crowds? Is It A Sign?
The normally raucous CPAC crowds were not there this year. The cheers, the jubilation, the exictement? All of it very muted.
Those attending the event were very pro-Trump. It was hard to find anyone wearing DeSantis swag.
The topics of discussion? Fentanyl, the Southern Border and China, with a mix of protecting children and education. The economy never really got mentioned.
Does Tony think that CPAC 2023 shows a divide in the GOP? No. And he explains why in the video.

Baier on Wray Denying FBI Social Media Censorship: 'Twitter Files Suggest Something Different'
BAIER: “Let’s start with the laptop. The FBI has had access to this laptop for more than three years. Why is this investigation on the Hunter Biden laptop taking so long?”
WRAY: “Well, the investigation is being led, as you may know, by a U.S. attorney appointed in the last administration out of Delaware. And the FBI is actively supporting and working with that U.S. attorney on that investigation.”
BAIER: “But the whistleblowers are telling these lawmakers that there was an internal effort to shut down the investigation from the beginning. Have you found that?”
WRAY: “I have not found anything like that.”
BAIER: “Alright. So let’s talk about the FBI and what you told Big Tech, or some agents did, about the authenticity and providence of Hunter Biden’s laptop. What about that, from an FBI perspective?”
WRAY: “The FBI does not and is not in the business of functioning as the truth police.”
BAIER: “Understood.”
WRAY: “We don’t tell social media companies to censor anything.”
BAIER: “Well, the Twitter files suggest something different. I mean, there was an FBI request, numerous times. Taibbi puts it out, FBI San Francisco requested to ban certain accounts. Twitter personnel in this case went on to look for reasons to suspend all four accounts that the FBI wanted to ban or suspend. Is it appropriate to flag social media accounts for — on Twitter or elsewhere, due to politics or government policies when it comes to Covid? Is it appropriate in any way? You’re saying it doesn’t happen but there is evidence that it had.”
WRAY: “We don’t tell social media companies to ban accounts.”
BAIER: “But you suggest?”
WRAY: “What we do is tell social media companies about information that we have about foreign disinformation campaigns by foreign actors, by foreign intelligence services, and those companies then make decisions about what, if anything, they want to do about it.”

Maher on Hiring New Writers: 'It’s Just Stunning How Uniform Their Points of View Are'
MAHER: “Just like in life, you don’t always agree with your friends on everything. So, it did turn out that it was okay because here I am 30 years later, still on. But I get every year when we are looking for — maybe we want new writers on our show. I love the writers I have, but you know what, I’m running a business here. I’m sorry, it’s brutal, but if I can find somebody better, that’s what I’m doing. I always serve the show first. So every year I read these packets of proposed writers and I read them this year as I do every year. It’s just stunning how uniform their points of view are.”
TAPPER: “And it hasn’t always been that way.
MAHER: “Exact — well, I don’t remember, but I don’t think it was every quite this bad. It’s the exact same point of view on every single issue. And it’s very predictable. I have a relationship with people who want to hear what I think is the truth, and I’m going to present both sides. And they may not be fair and balanced, there may not be equal weight put to each side because that’s not what the truth is. Truth isn’t always 50/50.”
TAPPER: “Right.”
MAHER: “So, I live with that. But, it’s — it gets more difficult because we’re so tribal now.”

Bill Maher: Wokeness is Undoing Liberalism
TAPPER: “How do you define wokeness? Because I hear people use the term all the time and it means something different to everybody.”
MAHER: “Again, I think it’s this collection of ideas that are not building on liberalism but very often undoing it. I mean, five years ago, Abraham Lincoln was not a controversial figure among liberals. We liked him. Now they take his name off schools and tear down his statues. Really? Lincoln isn’t good enough for you? You know, 5, 10 years ago, bedrock liberalism was we are striving to be a colorblind society where we don’t see race. Of course, we see it, but it doesn’t matter. That’s not what woke is. Woke is something very different. It’s identity politics — we see it all the time. It’s always the most important thing. I don’t think that’s liberalism. I mean, I could mention so many issues like that. I remember doing that show on HBO, comic relief for the homeless. And the idea then, again, among liberals, I thought, was for the sake of compassion, can we get these people off the streets so they have a roof over their heads? And now it’s like, ‘How dare you try to move the homeless? This is where they live!’ It’s like, again, you change the definitions and then you say I’m more conservative? I believe what I’ve always believed. You change these things and then you yell at me for it.”

Lori Lightfoot Concedes in Chicago Mayoral Election
LIGHTFOOT: “Let me just do this. So thank you and — and thank everyone so much. I feel a lot of love in this room as I felt every step of the way on this journey. I’ve called Brandon Johnson and Paul Vallas to congratulate them on their victories and advancing to the runoffs. We were fierce competitors, in these last few months, but I will be rooting and praying for our next mayor to deliver for the people of the city for years to come. Thank you.”

President Biden: ‘I May Be a White Boy, but I’m Not Stupid’
BIDEN: "You know, I know-- I know real power and I see it. The Divine Nine.
We're honored to have presidents- all the presidents here tonight. I want to thank you for that, and, by the way, I'n not... I- I may be a white boy, but I'm not stupid.
(laughter)
I know where the power is.
I know where the- you think, I’m, joking, I, learned a long time ago about the Divine Nine. That’s why I spent so much time at Delaware State campaigning and organizing my campaign in Delaware."

Dr. Birx on Lab Leak Theory: We’re Not Doing Enough to Prevent This from Happening Again
BIRX: "You know, I think it’s important that a group gets together of scientists, particular molecular virologists, and moves past the politics and say what do we really know? What do we know now about this virus, how it mutates, how it spreads through humans, what do we know that China was doing and it makes total sense that China was working on a vaccine and growing these – growing these viruses in tissue culture. That changes the virus over time. That’s what you do in the laboratory. And so it makes sense and I think really getting people to get – I know we are never going to get the data from China. China has not been transparent. We saw in that their recent outbreak. They weren’t telling how many people were succumbing to Covid. That’s been going on three years now and we have to be very clear. China they did not learn from sars, they were not transparent with Covid-19 in 2019, they are not transparent today in 2023, and we just have to understand that we are not going to change China’s behavior and put into place processes and accountability across the globe to ensure other countries are protected.

Larry Summers Says Russian Economic Sanctions Are Not Working
ZAKARIA: “Is it fair to say that the economic sanctions have not had the bite that people expected?”
SUMMERS: “Russian economic sanctions haven’t really bitten that hard because less than half of the world’s people have been involved in countries that are part of the sanctions and a large part of the world’s GDP. China, India, Turkey, as you mentioned certainly more than a third has not been part of the sanctions. And if you look at Russia’s neighbors, their trade with us has ramped up considerably in the last year which suggests that they are serving as a way station for goods to get into Russia. So there are real limits to the damage we can do Russia economically. We probably should try to stiffen up on the price caps on energy. There is financial areas where we can tighten. But the most important part of winning the economic aspect of the war of attrition is doing much more to support the economy of Ukraine which, by some measures, has declined by 40 percent.”

Marc Thiessen: Why Is There No 9/11 Commission for the Covid Pandemic?
THIESSEN: “Most Americans looked at this news and said, Well, duh, of course it came from a lab.”
PERINO: “Right.”
THIESSEN: “Everyone — everyone in the — every normal person in America has known for years that this came from a lab. I mean, think about this. The coincidence would be involved. It happened in Wuhan, which just, which is the home of the Wuhan Institute of Virology that studies back coronaviruses, but it didn’t come from a lab. I mean, they were — they were do — we know they were doing gain of function research. We know they were doing it at biosafety level two, instead of biosafety level four, which is with the spacesuits. We know that three people from the Wuhan lab got sick in November 2019, at the start of the pandemic and had to go to the hospital with Covid symptoms. But yeah, it didn’t come from a lab.

Understanding Why ESG Investing Is So Dangerous, with Andrew Stuttaford
The push to using ESG (environmental, social governance) standards isn't about creating returns for investors. Rather, it's a push to a radical ideology that sees the investor return as inconsequential.
States like Indiana are fighting it. Gov. Ron DeSantis is fighting it. Do they understand the issue?
Of course, the investor - you - wants a good return. Those running the fund you're investing in? They see it very differently. Andrew Stuttaford of National Review discusses the problem with Tony Katz.

Dems Call SCOTUS "Unhinged," Scream To Cancel Student Debt
Reps. Omar, Tlaib, Pressley and Bush took to the steps of the Supreme Court to demand that they allow President Biden to unilaterally cancel student loan debt.
Sen. Warren screamed that Biden is allowed to do it, because, after all, Trump did it! (You would think Warren would be opposed to doing something Trump had done.)
None of these politicos believe in personal responsibility. And that's the real problem.

And, does the information from the Energy Department that it is possible (probable) that Covid-19 leaked from a Chinese laboratory hurt them on the world stage?

DeSantis Signs Legislation, Makes Changes to Disney
With the stroke of a pen, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis changed the relationship between Florida and the Reedy Creek Improvement District which houses Disney.
Was this change a smart idea in the pursuit of better governance, or was this an act of retribution for Disney being so vocal about the Parental Bill of Rights in the state.
The market should punish bad corporate behavior like Disney's in this case, not the state of Florida. But that doesn't mean Florida was wrong in this case.

Biden Blames Covid, Inflation For People Being ‘Down’
BIDEN: “So, I think things are a little out of whack, and I don’t blame people for being down. You know, when you have a year or two years of the pandemic, kids out of school, the mental health problems in the country are seriously increased, especially among young people. Some things are — for example, even if they’re dealing with employment or getting better jobs or making more money. Inflation is still higher than it should be, and everything from gasoline prices to a war going on in Ukraine. I mean, so, I can’t think of a time when there’s been greater uncertainty, notwithstanding the fact we created 800,000 manufacturing jobs. We’re better off than virtually any other major nation in the world economically. But it’s understandable why people are just down.”

Blinken: ‘Russia Fights for Conquest, Ukraine Fights for Its Freedom’
Blinken: “President Zelenskyy has put forward a 10-point plan for a just and durable peace. President Putin, by contrast, has made clear that there’s nothing to talk about until Ukraine accepts, and I quote, ‘the new territorial realities,’ while doubling down on his brutal tactics. Members of this council have a fundamental responsibility to ensure that any peace is just and durable. Council members should not be fooled by calls for a temporary or unconditional ceasefire. Russia will use any pause in fighting to consolidate control over the territory it’s illegally seized and replenish its forces for further attacks. That’s what happened when Russia’s first assault on Ukraine froze in 2015. Look at what followed.
And members of this council should not fall into the false equivalency of calling on both sides to stop fighting or calling on other nations to stop supporting Ukraine in the name of peace. No member of this council should call for peace while supporting Russia’s war on Ukraine and on the U.N. Charter. In this war, there is an aggressor and there is a victim. Russia fights for conquest, Ukraine fights for its freedom. If Russia stops fighting and leaves Ukraine, the war ends. If Ukraine stops fighting, Ukraine ends. The fact remains, one man, Vladimir Putin started this war, one man can end it.”

Defense Sec. Austin: I Don’t See an Imminent Attack by China on Taiwan
COLLINS: “And Taiwan is, obviously, a major part of this. There are reports that the U.S. Is preparing to send more U.S. Military forces to Taiwan. Is that accurate?”
AUSTIN: “I won’t comment on troop deployments or operations or our training. What I will tell you, Kaitlan, is we remain committed to supporting Taiwan in accordance with the Taiwan Relations Act, we will do everything we can to help them acquire the means to defend themselves.”
COLLINS: “The general who is the head of Air Mobility Command recently sent a memo out saying that China and the U.S. he believed to be at war two years from now. He said, quote, ‘My gut tells me we will fight in 2025.’ Is that true?”
AUSTIN: “What you heard me say in the past, and I’ll say it again today, is I don’t see an imminent attack by China on Taiwan and — but what you have to — you know, what we — we can talk about what we see, and what we see is increased activity by the Chinese in the Taiwan Strait. We have seen a number of center line crossings in the airspace. We have seen increased activity in the waters around Taiwan as China continues to try to intimidate Taiwan.”
COLLINS: “Given that, why do you not think an attack is imminent, given you’re seeing that increased activity.
AUSTIN: “There are a number of reasons that I won’t go into here, but I don’t think it’s in Xi’s best interest to attack Taiwan at this point in time. And you have to judge them by what you are seeing. Again, we are seeing increased activity. We got to make sure that we have — that we remain focused on this and we have the ability to deter China from making a bad decision. And we will have that — we have that capability now. We will continue to have that capability.”

Buttigieg Calls on Trump to Support Reversing Train Deregulation That 'Happened Under His Watch'
Reporter: “You mentioned a national political figure who’s decided to get involved. It sounds like you’re talking about Trump. And then you said, ‘I need your help.’ How can he help?”
Buttigieg: “Well, one thing he could do is express support for reversing the deregulation that happened on his watch. I heard him say he had nothing to do with it, even though it was in his administration. So if he had nothing to do with it and they did it in his administration against his will, maybe he could come out and say that he supports us moving in a different direction. And we’re not afraid to own our policies when it comes to raising the bar on regulation. And I’ve got to think that him indicating that this is something that everybody, no matter how much you disagree on, politics and presidential campaigns, can get behind. Higher fines, tougher regulations on safety, Congress untying our hands on braking rules, all the other things that go with it. That’ll be a nice thing for him to do.”

Gov. DeSantis: You Must Be a U.S. Citizen to Vote in Florida
DeSantis: “So, our proposed legislation will prohibit that practice. Local governments will not be able to provide funds to issue ID cards to illegal aliens, and the legislation will invalidate all out of state licenses that have been given to illegal aliens.” (Cheering and Applause)
"Our bill will require when you register to vote that you affirm or swear under penalty of perjury, that you United States citizen. And so if you check that box and you’re, not then you’re opening yourself up to — to — to prosecution. And we need to make sure that we want all citizens here that want to vote to vote, but we don’t want anybody here voting illegally. And if you’re, not a citizen of this country, you should not be voting in our elections.” (Applause)

Buttigieg: ‘The Country Should Be Wrapping Their Arms Around the People of East Palestine’
Buttigieg: “The country should be wrapping their arms around the people of East Palestine, not as a political football, not as an ideological flashpoint, not as a gotcha moment, but as thousands of human beings whose lives got upended through no fault of their own. And I think that includes visits, not just big official visits from the government, but just people who’ve seen the news, and whose hearts go out to the community here and can come here, come here on a day like this when the sun is shining, or on a rainy day, and shop in those shops, and visit those businesses. It is safe to visit here, as all of us can attest, even while we’re still making sure that it stays safe to live here, and people deserve that.”

Sec. Buttigieg’s Press Sec. Tells Reporters to Turn off Cameras Because They Are ‘Aggressive’
HERNANDEZ: “Mayor Pete, why did it take you an entire two and a half weeks to actually get here to respond to East Palestine? Will you apologize to the residents of this city for — for the slow response, the government’s slow response? Do you have any apology?”
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “I am his press person, I can help you.”
HERNANDEZ: “Sure. Sure. Sure. Sure.”
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “I am his press person. I don’t want to —“ [crosstalk]
HERNANDEZ: “So, can — can — can we ask why it took him almost three weeks to get here?”
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “Sorry, I don’t want to do this on camera.”
Reporter 1: “What was his personal time off while it was a tragedy happening here?”
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “I’m happy to talk to you guys off camera.”
HERNANDEZ: “And can we also ask you why, you know, he waited until President Donald Trump came here to actually make an appearance? This is a very important question that people across America would like to know.”
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “I’m happy to have a conversation with you. I do not want to be on camera.”
HERNANDEZ: “Well —“
Reporter 2: “I have a question to your request.”
UNKNOWN MALE 1: “Please put your cameras away.”
HERNANDEZ: “I’m sorry, we’re on a public area. So we are allowed as press.”
UNKNOWN MALE: “She’s asked not to be filmed.” [crosstalk]
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “You guys — I would like you guys to turn your cameras off.”
Reporter 1: “You aren’t on my camera.”
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “Well, I’m on a camera, I would like your cameras to be off and then I’m happy to talk to you, guys.”
HERNANDEZ: “Well, if you’re the press secretary of the Secretary of the Department of Transportation, don’t you think you should be able to ask questions from the American public that you serve?”
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “Absolutely. I would like to do it without the camera on, please.”
HERNANDEZ: “Can I ask why?”
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “I think that is a little bit aggressive. That’s why. And I just want you to have —“
HERNANDEZ: “Why is it aggressive?”
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “It — uh, I’m —“
Reporter: “On behalf of the American people I’m just asking why he has not been here until Donald Trump came.”
UNKNOWN MALE 1: “She’s asked them. She’s asked them to turn their cameras off.”
UNKNOWN MALE 2: “Several times for them to turn the cameras off and they will not do it.”
POLICE OFFICER: “OK. Well, then she has been able to walk away. Would you like to go inside?”
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “I do not. I will walk this way.”
Reporter 2: “Can I ask what the secretary is going to do with the picture of Jennie Taer. He took it the other day when he was asked some questions in Washington D.C.?”
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “Hey, guys, like, I’m happy to answer your questions. I would like you guys to not have your cameras on.”
Reporter 2: “I had my camera off a minute ago. If I turn it off will you answer the question?”
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “You all have your cameras on, I can see that, you guys. I’m happy to have this conversation.”
HERNANDEZ: “Alright, y’all. So we are with the press secretary for Pete Buttigieg —“
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “OK. This is not —“ [crosstalk]
HERNANDEZ: “— and right now we are being told —“
Reporter 2: “I have my camera in my pocket. Can you answer to my question.”
HERNANDEZ: “— that we are not supposed to be filming.”
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “Well, they —“ [crosstalk]
HERNANDEZ: “Again, we are here on behalf of the American public, because we would like to have the conversation and we would like to —“
Reporter 2: “Can we step over there?”
HERNANDEZ: “— ask the question as to why —“
UNKNOWN FEMALE: “Let’s walk over here.”
HERNANDEZ: “— again, it took almost three weeks for Buttigieg — Pete Buttigieg — to be here on the ground. He waited until Donald Trump came here to actually be here and speak to residents. The people here have been quite tight knit about when we can ask questions. And again, we’re here on behalf of the American public and we wish we could be able to ask these questions but for some reason, you know, we are not allowed.”

Vivek Ramaswamy: I Am Proud to Say Tonight That I Am Running For United States President
Carlson: “Those are principles that bind us all under the same rules.”
RAMASWAMY: “Exactly. We are in the middle of this national identity crisis, Tucker, where we have celebrated our diversity and our differences for so long that we forgot all the ways we are really just the same as Americans, bound by a common set of ideals that set this nation into motion 250 years ago. That’s why I’m proud to say tonight that I’m running for United States president to revive those ideals in this country, those basic rules of the road. Meritocracy, the idea that you get ahead in this country not on color of your skin, but on the content of your character. The idea that you are allowed to speak freely — yes, to be wrong sometimes, as long as your neighbor gets the same courtesy in return. The idea that people who we elect to run our government, by the way, are the people who actually run the government. Basic rules of the road, these are things that bind us together. You and I have different shades of melanin. You know what I say? So what? That is not beautiful. That is not our strength. Our diversity is meaningless if there’s nothing greater that binds us together across that diversity. And the reason that I’m running for president is to revive those ideals. I believe deep in my bones they still exist, that most Americans still believe in them, but we need to rediscover that and the only way we can do it is by start talking openly again.”
