The Hillbilly Kitchen Country Cooking

Ambrosia is a tropical fruit salad with mini marshmallows and a cream dressing. It can be made with fresh, canned or frozen fruit or any combination of the three. It is a delicious no-cook dessert that is traditionally served during the holidays but would be excellent during the hot summer at all your cookouts and barbeques. You can make it a few hours ahead of time or the day before. You have probably had Ambrosia many times but may not have known what it was called. Now you know and you know how easy it is. Granny’s Ham and Tater Soup – Depression Cooking Ham and potato soup has endless variations and is the perfect way to use up some leftover ham, fill your belly and warm up a cold winter day. This is an easy, hearty soup that you can modify to use what you have on hand and suit your taste. This was always a favorite at my Granny’s house, and I don’t believe it was ever exactly the same twice because she used what she had. It is exactly what she was talking about when she said, “You need a pot, something to put in it and heat to cook”. So put a pot on the stove and cook up a pot of soup.
