It would have freed up billions of dollars for schools to use however they saw fit to help secure their schools. The funds were already allocated to the schools, and this would not have cost the tax payers anymore dollars. Schools would have had massive amounts of money to use on anything from counselors, to armed guards to protect the schools. If this bill would have passed, it's likely that the school in Tennessee would have had more security. It's likely that they would have even been able to prevent the tragedy that just happened. The bill was voted down by Democrat, Chris Murphy. What was completely unprecedented about this was Chris Murphy gave zero reasons why he voted to veto the bill. This type of action is completely historic in the history of the house. Typically a veto vote will be followed as to why it is being vetoed. The Democrats did no such thing this time. It appears they felt so smug, like they didn't have to justify why more money to schools to protect the children would be a bad thing. Sadly, we are now here. In this clip we see Jamaal Bowman have a meltdown and scream at no one in particular about gun violence. When a Republican does decide to engage with him, Jamaal proceeds to scream at him and interrupt him. We all want gun violence to stop. But the Democrats seem to see only one solution to the problem. The issue with that is that they've been pushing for that solution for years, and it hasn't happened yet. Likely it never will, because there are countless Americans who take the second amendment seriously. The thought that the 2nd amendment will be violated and people's guns could be taken away doesn't seem to line up with the reality we are in. So, countless Republican law makers have made many practical suggestions on how to curb the violence. The left doesn't want to hear it. In this case, it really does seem to be the left that is holding up any progress in the matter. They refuse to have rational discussions about this sort of thing, and insist on demonizing the other side, all the while roadblocking actual progress from being made. But also yes, the Baptist church teaches that humans come in either male or female and that this can't be changed.
