THE STORY: The Cape Cod Vampire murders happened in the idyllic small towns of Provincetown and nearby Truro, Massachusetts. Normally sleepy, safe places, the discovery of several dismembered bodies in the woods near Truro was incredibly shocking. The culprit was a man named Tony Costa. After shooting some of his victims, he took his victims to the Pine Grove Cemetery in Truro and used an ancient brick holding crypt to cut up the bodies in private. Mount Jerome Cemetery & Crematorium (Irish: Reilig Chnocán Iaróm) is situated in Harold's Cross on the south side of Dublin, Ireland. Since its foundation in 1836, it has witnessed over 300,000 burials. Originally an exclusively Protestant cemetery, Roman Catholics have also been buried there since the 1920s. The name of the cemetery comes from an estate established there by the Reverend Stephen Jerome, who in 1639 was vicar of St. Kevin's Parish. At that time, Harold's Cross was part of St. Kevin's Parish. In the latter half of the 17th century, the land passed into the ownership of the Earl of Meath, who in turn leased plots to prominent Dublin families. A house, Mount Jerome House, was constructed in one of these plots, and leased to John Keogh. In 1834, after an aborted attempt to set up a cemetery in the Phoenix Park, the General Cemetery Company of Dublin bought the Mount Jerome property, "for establishing a general cemetery in the neighbourhood of the city of Dublin". The first official burial happened on the 19th of September 1836. The buried deceased were the infant twins of Matthew Pollock. The cemetery initially started with a landmass of 26 acres and grew to a size of 48 acres in 1874. In 1984, burial numbers were falling, thus the Cemetery was losing revenue and began to deteriorate. A crematorium was needed to regain revenue and deal with plant overgrowth on the estate. The Funerary Chapel in the cemetery was the first Puginian Gothic church in Dublin. It was designed by William Atkins. In 2000, Mount Jerome Cemetery established its own crematorium on the site. THIS STORY: The von Trapp Family was an Austrian singing family of the former naval commander Georg von Trapp. The family achieved fame in their original singing career in their native Austria during the interwar period. They also performed in the United States before emigrating there permanently to escape the deteriorating situation in Austria during World War II. In the United States, they became well known as the "Trapp Family Singers" until they ceased to perform as a unit in 1957. The family's story later served as the basis for a memoir, two German films, and Rodgers and Hammerstein's Broadway musical "The Sound of Music". STORY: This burial spot was a popular hunting camp where coon hunters from miles around gathered to plot their hunting strategies, tell tall tales, chew tobacco and compare coonhounds. Today more than 200 coon dogs from all across the United States are buried at this spot in northwestern Alabama. I pay a visit to the Althorp Estate, childhood home and burial place of Princess Diana to see the private chapel that she is rumoured to be buried in as her ancestors have been before her. Before that we'll visit the oval lake at Althorp House to see her "official" grave and mausoleum where I found out something that shocked me. Oh and surprisingly we get to see the grave of US President George Washington's grandfather! Who was Diana's relative! The apparent grave of Diana in the chapel shows a re-cemented area of stone floor that was removed so that Diana could be lowered into the crypt, It was sealed 3 days after her funeral and Earl Spencer later said that he changed his mind after he got permission to bury her on the island of the lake.
