John Little: The Bruce Lee, Ayn Rand & Mike Mentzer Connection
John Little is an author and award-winning filmmaker considered by many to be one of the world's foremost authorities on Bruce Lee, his training methods and philosophies. John, who directed, wrote and produced the notable documentaries "Bruce Lee: In His Own Words" & "Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journey" for Warner Bros, and authored the book "The Warrior Within, The Philosophies of Bruce Lee," is the only person ever to be authorized by the legendary martial artist's estate to review the entirety of Lee's personal notes, sketches and reading annotations.
John's love of philosophy also led him to direct and produce the documentaries "Ayn Rand, In Her Own Words," and "The Making of The Fountainhead" for Warner Bros, a documentary based on Rands's breakout novel of an iconoclastic architect whose designs are so innovative they offend the architectural orthodoxy and city planners, the "second-handers" who seek to snuff out Roarke's ultra modernistic vision and force him to comply with tradition.
John is also highly regarded in the world of fitness and bodybuilding, having penned numerous articles for the Joe Weider publications Muscle & Fitness and FLEX magazine. and has written some of the most well-respected books on the subject of high-intensity training including "Body by Science," "Power Factor Training," and more recently "The Time Savers Workout." However, some of John's most notable endeavors in the world of bodybuilding stem from time spent working with (and as a close friend of) Mike Mentzer, the legendary Golden Era pro bodybuilder from the late 70s and 80s who was the only Mr. Olympia competitor to ever achieve a perfect score of 300 in winning the heavyweight class at the 1979 Mr. Olympia. John authored the book, "The Wisdom of Mike Mentzer" and Co-Authored the book "High-Intensity Training, The Mike Mentzer Way" with Mentzer himself.

Dr. John Jaquish: The Elon Musk of The Fitness Industry
Dr. John Jaquish is the scientist behind the revolutionary X3-Bar, which uses a unique combination of the world's most powerful resistance bands attached to a platform and detachable bar, that allows for the type of extreme force that builds muscle 3 times faster than conventional weight lifting, without the risk of joint injury. Dr. Jaquish is also a research professor at Rushmore University, and an expert in osteogenic loading and bone density who has been nominated for the National Medal of Science and who is fast becoming known as the Tony Stark (of Iron Man fame), or more likely, the Elon Musk of the health and fitness industry! As much like Musk's electric, self-driving cars have disrupted the automotive industry, Dr. Jaquish's research and his inventions are just as likely to level the health and fitness industry, making gyms as we know them today obsolete in the near future.
Dr. Jaquish credentials belie his physique, as he's possibly the most jacked and shredded scientist you'll ever meet, standing 6' feet tall, he is 240 lbs at 9% bodyfat, having added 45 pounds of muscle over three years using his X3-bar. This is possible due to his invention's ability to deliver tremendous force throughout a movement at varying degrees. Variable resistance, it seems, is the key to extraordinary increases in muscular growth, a finding Dr. Jaquish discovered while conducting research on human performance and bone density. In that study, his team found that they could create enormous levels of force through the body that were 7x greater than normal when isolating specific ranges of motion.

Dr. Shawn Baker: How The Carnivore DIet Will Save The Planet
Dr. Shawn Baker is an elite-level athlete with multiple world records in rowing, and an orthopedic surgeon who served in the US Airforce as a nuclear weapons launch officer and as a combat trauma surgeon and chief of orthopedics while deployed to Afghanistan. Dr. Baker is also the author of "The Carnivore Diet," and the face an improbable health movement that just a few years ago would have seemed absurd, advocating for an all-meat diet, or a diet made up exclusively of animal products. He's the founder and CEO of MeatRx, an organization that educates and promotes the benefits of the Carnivore Diet, and Dr. Baker is also the co-host of the Human Performance Outliers podcast.
In this episode of The Alpha Human Podcast, Dr. Shawn Baker and Lawrence Rosenberg discuss how he became the leading voice of the Carnivore Movement, and how he has overcome an unprecedented level of resistance to an idea that is currently demonized by popular culture and environmental activists, through to health professionals and major health associations like the American Diabetes Foundation and the American Heart Association, that eating meat not just safe and healthy, but that it can actually help people thrive, prevent disease and save the planet.
Beyond his in-depth dispelling of the myths associated with meat consumption, he discusses the importance of animal protein for human longevity, the introduction of processed carbohydrates, seed oils, and high fructose corn syrup into the human diet as the true culprit behind the modern epidemic of chronic disease, and the stunning data which shows that if the United States were to convert 40% of its herd to regenerative grazing (from 5% currently), then we could completely offset all carbon emissions from every sector of the US economy!
Dr. Baker also shares his thoughts on the qualities he feels are most important in a good leader, as well as his approach to leadership, both as the face of the carnivore community, and as the founder of MeatRx, a company that offers carnivore based health, nutrition, and lifestyle coaching. He's fully committed to the idea of "walking the walk" and leading from the front by personally using the carnivore diet to continue to improve his health and performance, break world records and train as an athlete in his 50s in a way that most don't do in their 20s. He also makes note of the importance of surrounding yourself with passionate, happy people, pointing out that every person at his organization has experienced the diet and has had a life-altering positive change.
Of his long term vision, Dr. Baker describes how he is intent on saving a dying healthcare system by teaming up with ranchers and food producers to help educate and guide policy on the health benefits of meat and an animal protein-based diet along with its use as a powerful intervention for conditions as wide-ranging as autoimmune disease, diabetes, mental health disorders, and GI issues, and why it is more efficacious than the current medical standard of care at a fraction of the cost.

Navy SEAL Dan Luna - Leading Through Volatility
Dan Luna is a former United States Navy SEAL, an expert in Leadership, and a highly accomplished military professional with over 20 years of experience in the SEAL Teams at the unit, operational and command level.
Dan was a member of SEAL Team One where he served ten years completing five deployments, including two tours in Iraq, two tours in Afghanistan. In 2010 he became a member of the Naval Special Warfare Development Group, AKA DevGru, AKA Seal Team SIX. His decorations include 2 Bronze Stars w/ Valor, the Purple Heart, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Commendation Medal, and the Navy Commendation Medal w/ Valor x4.
After his time with the SEALs, Dan became an instructor at the United States Naval Academy where he developed leadership programs and trained Navy and Marine Corps officers. He earned a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Georgetown University and is the Founder of 3LX, a leadership consultancy and coaching business.
Dan Luna's journey to becoming a Navy SEAL began as an only child fascinated with The Hardy Boy mysteries. He romanticized the idea of joining a brotherhood and going through a rite of passage, and the more books he read the more the idea of testing himself and the intrigue of becoming involved in big, international affairs appealed to him. His search for a crucible to challenge himself led him to look for the hardest program possible to forge him into the man he was looking to become. Dan considered law enforcement and the military, but nothing seemed to compare to the hell one must go through to become a Navy SEAL, the program known as BUDs (Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training). Dan graduated BUDS class 228, the class featured in the book The Warrior Elite: Forging of SEAL Class 228 by Dan Couch -- BUDS 228 is also the same class that produced Marcus Lutrell, the lone survivor of Operation Red Wings.
In this episode of the Alpha Human Podcast, Dan talks about the struggle of transitioning from a 20-year career with the SEALs and military as a warfighter handling presidential-level missions, to the metronome-like tempo of civilian life. "What you do as an occupation, it goes into your being, and that being (becomes) your character, your personality, your actions, and how you move day-to-day, and how you look at the world, and how you perceive things. So to sort of move from that from (being) covert to overt for me ... I felt like a Martian. I felt like I was on another planet."
Dan explains how his epiphany for how to navigate and succeed in the foreign terrain of civilian life came when he asked himself a different question from the one that had been vexing him ... "instead of thinking about doing and I had a lot of issues with that what I started asking was different question was, who do I want to be?"
We also talk about building a "Feeder Mindset" and avoiding falling into the trap of the "Receiver mentality," how this applies to success in all realms of life, a fascinating concept found within Sayoc Kali, a fighting system for using edged weapons (blades) in combat that Luna and many in the SpecOps/shooter community practice as invented by the Sayoc family, and popularized by Pamana Tuhon Chris Sayoc.
Dan also discusses leadership, the powerful concept of "The Push" and "The Pull," and what you must learn in order to lead in circumstances where men and women are expected to follow you, whether into battle, in business, or as a mother/father guiding a family. He also describes his specialization in "leading through volatility," pre-traumatic coaching for military, law enforcement and first responders, and his training to help those whose profession places them at the front lines of violent crises, to help prepare for the psychological effects of catastrophic and harrowing events, and to help prevent or ameliorate the consequences of PTSD.

U.S. Army Special Forces Veteran Pat McNamara - The Sentinel
Pat McNamara served 22 years in U.S. Army Special Operations, 13 of those years were with 1st SFOD-D. Pat has extensive experience in combat zones in Eastern Europe and the Middle East and during his time in Special Operations, he became an elite marksman and would later serve as his Unit's Marksmanship NCO eventually retiring from the Army’s premier hostage rescue unit as a Sergeant Major. Pat is now the CEO of TMACS a Performance-Based Training company that teaches individuals how to excel in everything from Tactics and Marksmanship through to Security. He is also the author of the two books, "T.A.P.S Tactical Application of Practical Shooting" as well as "Sentinel: Become the Agent in Charge of Your Own Protection Detail," a book that teaches survival techniques for protecting your family.
In this episode of The Alpha Human Podcast, Pat and I discuss the unique ethos of SFOD-D, the Army's Tier One Special Operations unit, and the time he spent in Eastern Europe during the Cold War setting up spy networks, as well as his service with the USMLM, a little known unit that contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union in ways that few are aware, including infiltrating communist East Germany under diplomatic cover to collect intelligence on the Soviet and East German militaries. We also discuss Pat's book "The Sentinel," which although penned a decade ago is as relevant now as ever given its detailed insight into how to protect your loved ones from the simple, yet often overlooked threats pervasive in our society. We also talk about the imperative nature of regaining our primal instincts and intuition as well as urban survival skills - everything from driving to save your life and the mental checklist necessary for surviving a siege on a Wallmart-style establishment, through to Combat Strength Training, Pat's unique training system for becoming physically battle-ready. We also unpack the crucial difference between performance-based training vs. goal-oriented training, and why focusing on performance over outcomes is optimal. Pat and I also explore his difficult journey transitioning out of Special Operations and into civilian life, and the challenging period he faced raising young children in an extremely problematic marriage, as well as the epiphany that helped him overcome his downward spiral and fostered his growth as one of the most positive and highly motivated individuals you will ever meet. We also get Pat's advice on how to acquire "Attitude," and how to find meaning and purpose in life.
