Live on Tuesday, August 1, as the full 'Sturgeon' supermoon shines over the Temple of Poseidon in Greece. The full moon’s name derives from the freshwater fish, which the Native Americans believed to be more abundant in the Great Lakes during the month of August. Supermoons occur when the full moon is within 90 percent of the perigee; the point in its orbit where the moon is closest to Earth. This phenomenon causes the moon to appear bigger and brighter than usual.

The sound of an explosion and a flash of light were captured on CCTV footage at a health and beauty studio located in the Moscow City area, where an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crashed on Tuesday. On Tuesday morning, the Russian Defence Ministry said it had foiled an 'attempted terrorist attack by the Kiev regime' by UAVs on facilities in Moscow and the Moscow region. "Two Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed in the air by air defence means over the territory of Odintsovo and Naro-Fominsk districts of Moscow region. Another drone was suppressed by means of electronic warfare and, having lost control, crashed on the territory of the Moscow City’s non-residential building complex," the ministry said. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin added that one UAV 'flew into the same tower in the City as last time'. As a result, windows across 150 square metres of the 21st floor were broken, and there was no information about any casualties. Daria Levchenko, adviser to the Minister of Economic Development, said that now 'experts are assessing the damage and the state of the infrastructure for the safety of people in the building'. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova compared it to the September 11 attacks in the US in a TV interview. "The September 11, the Twin Towers. Colossal number of victims, but the methodology is the same. The United Nation's General Assembly is meeting in New York on Tuesday, July 17, for a plenary session on the situation in Ukraine. The meeting takes place amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to renew the Black Sea Grain Initiative (BSGI), which expired at midnight between 17 and 18 July. The initiative was last renewed in May 2023 for a period of 60 days. Russia has said that it would not renew the BSGI, claiming that its own food and fertilizer exports to international markets are still being blocked.
