River Smallmouth Adventures

A beautiful first float of 2024 in my NEW Bonafide Kayak, PWR129 with a Newport Vessels NK-180 trolling motor to get me through those slow stretches! I've been Blessed to have been invited to join Team Bonafide and to become an Ambassador for Newport Vessels Motors! I'll do a complete video of both in weeks to come but this video is about some BIG BEAUTIFUL Holston River smallmouth! We landed a total of 60 on the day and several in the 15"-18" range with most of mine coming on the Thomas Custom Lures, Skywalker crankbait in Morning Dawn color, we also caught fish on swimbaits, Ned Rigs, and jerkbaits in various colors. First trip, Hayabusa Fishing, Skywalker crankbaits, Shallow cranking, Big Smallmouth Bass

In this video I show why the Thomas Custom Lures, Skywalker Crankbaits are my go to crankbaits in the rivers we fish! In the 2 1/2 years since Thomas started painting there have been thousands of fish caught on them! This shallow water crankbait has a wobble between the Mann's Baby -1 and the old Bandit Footloose and dives about 1' deep. I can't begin to express the year we had on the North Fork Holston River in 2023 with Thomas Horsch of Thomas Custom Lures, James Hartsock of Rolling Waters Adventures and all the others that I had the privledge of sharing the river with this year! I couldn't ask for better friends, more beautiful scenery and especially BIG Smallmouth Bass! **After fighting a stiff neck for a week and visiting the chiropractor and massage therapist with little relief, I couldn't pass up another trip to the river with great friends, James and Thomas! It wasn't the best idea but I did manage a few quality fish and I lived throught the pain. Enjoy this December day on the river!

**It was a cold 25 degrees when we hit the river and our lines were freezing and guides icing up until the sun popped over the ridge! Apologies for the noise where they were rip raping the river bank but that's where i got some good ones to start the morning off right! 9 you'll see!) I hope they have a federal permit to dig in the river! 25 degrees to start this day with lines freezing to the guides and guides icing over but the fish don't mind at all! Like the title says we didn't get the numbers but the quality of the fish was much better than in weeks past. Fall is my favorite time to be on the rivers and out in nature! A cool cloudy day on the river produced some quality fish for Thomas, James and myself! James landed big fish of the day with a beautiful 18" Smallmouth on a Thomas Custom Lures Skywalker crankbait and Thomas showed out by catching I don't know how many 16"-17.5" smallies most landed on a 4" Keitech swimbait. We ended the day with 56 total and too many laughs to count! Crankbaits were the flavor of the day on this New River float trip! 4 of us landed a total of 117 smallmouth with a huge 19" beast for big fish of the trip! We had James Hartsock of @rollingwatersadventures and a couple of his friends along for this Kayaking Adventure! Thomas Custom Painted Lures, S Cranks and Skywalker's got the job done in style! We had lots of current to start the day with murky water but it cleared as the day moved on and the bite got better all day long! Thomas Horsch and James Hartsock were along and they both landed several quality fish as well. James got big fish with a 17.5" after he lost his PB earlier! The floating grass made it hard to throw crankbaits and topwater but with patience it payed off! We hope you enjoy the day on the river!
