387. Irrigation valve box repair.
So we had another pvc connection fail, which almost flooded our basement again. So Im digging it all up and attempting to eliminate any unnecessary pvc connections. However I am again using a pvc cement that I am not familiar with, hopefully its the right stuff.

386. The sump alarm already paid for itself.
Our irrigation failed again, a pvc connection, disconnected right beside our house and flooded the yard. Luckily Kimberly heard the sump alarm and we got irrigation system turned off before the basement flooded.
Ways to avoid flooding the basement
-sump alarm
-ensure proper glue is used on pvc connections
-use a sump pump that runs longer then 1.5min and turns off for 3 min.
-pressure kill switch installed on irrigation pump

384. Getting the camper trailer ready for our road trip.
We have not touched this 2007 trailer since buying it last April, but we need to start getting it ready because our road trip to the Yukon is a couple weeks away.
The previous owners left most of their belongings in the trailer, so we need to sort through whats worth keeping and whats trash. Also wiped out all the cabinets and mouse proofed them with silicon and spray foam. Kimberly washed the bedding and all the dishes. I filled the fresh water tank, checked if everything worked and nothing leaked. Then started to go through all of our camping gear, to figure out what should be stored in the trailer and not in our sugar shack.

382. $150 to fertilize the lawn.
I had no intentions of ever fertilizing the lawn since there is so much of it. But over the last two years of living here, I have noticed the lawn is at its worst this year, showing bare spot, thin grass, ant hills in the grass, and Leo almost has it worn down to dirt in spots by driving his Jeep. So, lets see what happens with some fertilizer. It took 3, 25kg bags of fertilizer to do the lawn. I might pick up one more, just for the spruce trees.

381. In my experience, I wouldn't recommend a zero turn lawn mower.
Cons on a Zero turn lawnmower
-tears the turf on 90 degree turns
-gets stuck easy
-hard to steer on banks
-no attachments for it
-two hands are required to steer, cant drink a beer and mow at the same time.
Pros
-cuts grass fast
-cheaper than a 4x4 lawn tractor
*is that why they are called a 'zero turn' ? because its best if you make zero turns?

380. Now, I might be able to sit back and watch it all grow.
Finished filling the last of our pots with dirt and flower seeds. Attempting to propagate our beautiful Lilac bush. Cut some more poplar tree stems in an attempt to propagate them too, most have grown successfully from last years attempt, just needed to re-try about a dozen of them. And then I found a leak in our irrigation, It went unnoticed till now because of all the rain.

377. The floating dock has blown free.
So my 2' long pieces of pipe have become loose in the wet soil and with the high winds today, the dock has pulled these two pipes over. To fix it, I have two light pipes the are 8' long to replace the 2 footers, I highly doubt any wind will pull them over.

376. Installed a high water alarm in our sump.
Also changed out the check valve on the sump pump discharge line, this will drastically slow down how often the sump pump turns on.
And our Hammered Copper Water Matka arrived and we are excited to only drink our water from it. But first it is filtered through our Big Berkey water filter.

375. Water management, the yearly tweaks to the irrigation system.
Too much water here, no water getting there. Some sprinklers are plugged, some sprinklers don't rotate anymore, some sprinklers are bury under mulch, and some sprinklers just need smaller nozzles.

Finally decided that we wont be re-purposing the observatory structure that the previous owners used. So its coming down, but we may have a use for the concrete pad.

367. Filled the last raised garden box.
Another truck load of top soil from the local construction site filled the last garden box. The bottom half or so of the garden box is filled with scrap lumber, tree trunks and willows.
