While Western media is full of praise for the latest weapons package for Ukraine, those arms often end up targeting civilians. An independent Australian journalist has published a documentary telling the story of 17-year-old Donetsk boy who tried to help people after a HIMARS strike, but was then killed by a second one. RT talked with the author of the documentary.

Scott Ritter is joined by Vaso Kapanadze, a Georgian political scientist and an international relations expert, with 5 years of diplomatic experience. Since 2016 Kapanadze has been actively involved in issues of the post-Soviet space and in the field of Russian-Georgian relations. He joins us today from Georgia.

May started with a devastating strike of Russian missiles on the Ukrainian decision-making center. On the night of May 1, a series of large explosions thundered in the city of Odessa. The Ukrainian military reported three strikes of Russian Iskander-M missiles. The local authorities attempt to hide the targets but local reports shed some light as to the damage. One of the strikes reportedly targeted the local railway infrastructure. The secondary detonation confirmed destruction of a military echelon or some warehouse near the railway station. Some local repots also claimed the destruction of a Neptune anti-ship missile launcher in the region. The main target of the attack in Odessa was presumably the headquarters of the command of South group of Ukrainian forces. According to unconfirmed reports, the strike thwarted a meeting of senior Ukrainian officers and NATO military instructors held in the basement. Losses are confirmed by many ambulances spotted in the area. More details about the damage in Odessa are likely to be revealed, including in the reports by western media about the sudden deaths of high-ranked NATO officers. Amid constant Russian precision strikes, the Ukrainian military continues attempts to reach at least some infrastructure deep into the Russian territory. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported the interception of 6 Ukrainian UAVs over the border regions last night. One of the UAVs reached the rear Ryazan region. As a result of the attack, a fire was reported at the local oil refinery. Ukrainian attempts to damage Russian rear infrastructure are yet to have any impact on the situation on the front. On the other hand, the devastating attacks in the Ukrainian strategic rear and war-torn regions thwart Ukrainian plans and weaken their defense. As a result, Russian offensive operations bring new victories on the battlefields. North-west of Avdeevka, Russian troops are rapidly expanding the zone of their control around Ocheretino, capturing one settlement after another. The remaining Ukrainian units are grinded in fire cauldron near Berdychi. Meanwhile to the north, Ukrainian forces retreat to Arkhangelskoe, which is already close to be surrounded from three directions. In the Artyomovsk direction, the warring sides are preparing for the upcoming battle for Chasov Yar. Clashes are already ongoing in its eastern Keramik district. Russian troops finally reached the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal, an important Ukrainian stronghold, control of which paves the way for assault on Chasov Yar from a new direction. The Russian army also achieved new victories on the southern Zaporozhie front. Amid the heavy prolonged battles for the ruins of Rabotino, Russian flag was raised on the northern outskirts of the village. Loosing battles on the frontlines, Kiev prolongs the bloodshed, sacrificing its population, forced to fulfill the wishes of NATO warmongers. The last few weeks were marked by a rapid Russian breakthrough of the Ukrainian defenses on the northern flank in the Avdeevka direction. The Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed full control of the village of Novobakhmutovka, which complicated the positions of the remaining Ukrainian garrison near Berdychi. Ukrainian units that lost precious American Abrams tanks are now grinded in a fire cauldron. Russian forces are reinforcing their foothold around Ocheretino, while the Armed Forces of Ukraine are losing the battle for Netailovo nearby. The Russian military continues multiple pinpoint attacks along the entire front line, cracking the Ukrainian defenses at the seams. The recent Russian assault in the Kupyansk front, which has been inflamed by positional battles in recent months, has already brought new victories. Russian troops crashed into Ukrainian defenses near the village of Kislovka and took control of a large part of it. Suffering from defeats in the Donbass, Kiev invents victories to declare in the media. The Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief reported control of the small island of Nestriga in the floodplain of the Dnieper River. Such claims are aimed to please the audience but have zero tactical impact on the situation on the battlefield. A small Ukrainian infantry group was reportedly destroyed on the island on the same night. Most of the Dnieper islands remain in the grey zone and neither of the warring sides hold a secured foothold there. Pushed by heavy defeats, Kiev and its NATO patrons are looking for large media victories. One of these provocations may be the expected massive attack on the Crimean Bridge on one of the upcoming Russian holidays. In an attempt to weaken Russian air defenses in the peninsula, the Ukrainian/NATO military launched airstrikes on the airfield near Dzhankoi on April 17. On April 28, 5 ATACMS missiles that targeted air defense facilities on the Western Cape Tarkhankut were destroyed. Despite Kiev’s lies about the defensive nature of the NATO military supplies, the new batches of ATACMS missiles were supplied for the strikes deep in the Russian rear. An attack on the Crimean Bridge is not important from the point of view of military necessity, but in the case of success, it may bring the necessary media attention to temporarily hide Ukrainian losses. On the other hand, the damage to Russian military facilities in Crimea, including the military airfields and the Black Sea Fleet, may become a heavy blow to Russia. Pinpoint strikes in the Russian rear with advanced Western missiles will not help the Ukrainian military to win; but they could have a long-term effect and may weaken Russia in the case of a larger war.

While the Russian military is capturing one Ukrainian stronghold after another on the frontlines, NATO is scraping money together to keep the Kiev regime alive. Meanwhile, Ukraine is hunting down its own citizens in an attempt to find more cannon fodder for the meat grinder of war. Russian flags are raised on one newly captured settlement after another. Over the past days alone, the rapid Russian advance resulted in control of three strategically important villages north of Avdeevka. No deployment of additional reinforcements, including the units equipped with the US-made Abrams tanks, helped to hold the defense west of Avdeevka. All the main strongholds there have already fallen. If the Ukrainian military command does not allow the withdrawal of the remaining troops from the northern outskirts of Berdychi, this battlefield is likely to turn into another mass grave. The Russian military also won another heavy battle in the southern Donetsk direction. Russian forces gained a foothold at the refractory plant in Krasnogorovka. This large facility was turned into the main stronghold of the Ukrainian army in the area, which in order to strengthen, large resources were sent. The Russian flag over the plant may become a turning point in the battle for the town, which is located on the hills and offers fire control over a large surrounding area. The pace of the Russian advance in different directions marks cracks in the entire Ukrainian defense in the Donbass and the depletion of the Ukrainian military. No amount military support from the West could help the Ukrainian army gain back the initiative, but rather only prolong its agony. Suffering heavy losses, Kiev is faced with an acute shortage in manpower. While the military commissars are hunting for drivers for Leopard and Abrams tanks on the streets, Kiev is taking unpopular measures looking for some legal ways to expand the mobilization. In May, a new law will enter into power and allow Kiev to take more young, elderly and handicapped people to the front. Violating the Constitution, Kiev does not allow potential soldiers to hide either in Ukraine or abroad. Ukraine suspended all consular services to men of military age living abroad. Kiev’s policy may help find some more cannon fodder but it has more important long-term consequences, mainly for the European states which are already suffering from the poor control of migration. ATO countries are appending more and more money to the Kiev regime which can’t stop losing its territories and vital strategic infrastructure on a daily basis. New series of Russian precision strikes inflicted more damage to Ukrainian military and infrastructure facilities throughout the country. On the evening of April 24, the city of Mykolaiv came under the second attack during the day. After Russian drones and missiles destroyed several personnel accommodation facilities and port infrastructure, in the evening, at least two strikes hit one of the large local industrial facilities. Ukrainian military officials also confirmed damage to the warehouses with military equipment as a result of the Russian strikes in the southern Odessa region. During the night, massive Russian strikes continued. The Ukrainian military confirmed strikes in the Cherkassy and Poltava regions in the central part of Ukraine. The military airport in the town of Mirgorod, which is one of the largest acting airfields of the Air Force of Ukraine, was struck. About 25 explosions were reported in the Cherkassy region. The targets of the attack are yet to be revealed. One them reportedly were the facilities of Ukrainian air defense forces deployed near the town of Smela. More Russian strikes were reported in the constantly pounded regions of Kahrkiv, Dnepropetrovsk and Kherson. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are retreating unable to stop Russian advance on the frontlines. Over the past days, Russian forces have achieved large victories in the Avdeevka region. After Ukrainian servicemen fled from their military positions, Russian servicemen rapidly took control of almost the entire town of Ocheretino, which is an important stronghold located on the dominant heights. While they are completing the mop up operation there, Russian forces have launched an assault on the neighboring village of Novobakhmutovka. After short battles, Russian servicemen raised their flag in the center of the village. The Ukrainian military command sent reinforcement in an attempt to save control of the village of Solovyovo nearby but this decision is unlikely to have any significant impact on the situation on the battlefield. Amid the defeats of the Ukrainian military, the West, leaded by the US, is forced to spend more money to pay for the war-torn country. Washington finally approved simultaneous allocation of new aid packages to continue its wars in Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. Ukraine should get 61 billion dollars from the American wallet, more than a third of which will be allocated to replenish U.S. reserves. Washington finally acknowledged the supply of long-range ATACMS missiles to Kiev. Supported by Zelensky’s lies, the US staged a bad play, retroactively confirming the transfer of dangerous weapons, which are already in service with the Ukrainian military. For the US military, artificial intelligence (AI) is the silver bullet of the future. With their help, the experiences of the Ukraine war are evaluated. US generals speak of an “experimental laboratory” and a “bonanza” – a gold mine. Former US intelligence analyst and UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter is more skeptical about the potential of AI: "Human intelligence will trump AI at every turn, because at the end of the day I turn off the damn computer and win." The US military's main sources of error lie particularly in programming: "If you have an anti-Russian bias, that means that any program you put into your computer that tells you what the Russians are going to do or how they're going to react is not "How can they program the Russian reaction if they don't understand the Russians, if they don't take the Russian perspective into account?" Ritter argues that the Russian military, on the other hand, relies on human intelligence: "The Russians don't use AI. You know what the Russians do? They take a general from the battlefield who was at the front and bring him to the General Staff Academy, where they "Sit him down with other generals and talk about people: 'What are our experiences?'." That's why Ritter concludes: "As long as the US military relies on artificial intelligence, there will be no meaningful lessons from the Ukrainian battlefield. They will all be false lessons, and that guarantees that America will lose any future conflict with Russia ."
