Learning the ancestral technique of kite-fishing | SLICE
Wapo is the traditional chief of the Aikawa, the oldest tribe on the island of Santa Catalina, in the south of the Solomon archipelago. Every year, in June, he goes kite fishing in the waves of the Pacific Ocean.
This year his young nephew Jay has been designated to follow Wapo's footsteps and perpetuate the legend of kite fishing. Wapo shows his pupil how to let the kite reach its flying altitude and, at the same time, how to control the line, so that the bait is carried by the kite, and skims the crest of the waves. If he lets it drag in the water, the fish won't be interested.
Jay will need many years of experience before becoming a great fisherman like Wapo, but he is already beginning to master all the elements of kite fishing.

At least 67 people dead from Maui wildfires as death toll continues rising
Hawaii emergency management records show no indication that warning sirens sounded before people ran for their lives from wildfires on Maui that killed at least 67 people and wiped out a historic town. Instead, officials sent alerts to mobile phones, televisions and radio stations — but widespread power and cellular outages may have limited their reach.
The wildfires are the state's deadliest natural disaster since a 1960 tsunami that killed 61 people. An even deadlier tsunami in 1946, which killed more than 150 people on the Big Island, prompted the development of the territory-wide emergency system that includes the sirens, which are sounded monthly to test their readiness.
KTLA's John Fenoglio reports on August 11, 2023.

An old woman guided us to this archaeological place. The old woman told us that this place was inhabited by different civilizations because it was a place like heaven, full of fruits and water from everywhere and wonderful views.
She also told us that the region was divided into two sides, one inhabited by workers and the poor, and one inhabited by the rich and the rulers of the region.
It's a great place, I even enjoy just walking here.
We will explore the place with metal detector,

Gastronomic Big Wall Climbing in Patagonia
Tyler Karow, Imanol Amundarian, and Cedar Christensen pulled off a team free ascent of the South African Route on the East face of the Central Tower of Paine in Patagonia, Chile in January 2023. Despite their typical vigilance for going light, they opted to splurge on quite a few luxuries including excess amounts of wine and a mini cast iron oven that they used to bake muffins, empanadas, and pizzas daily while living in portaledges. They spent a total of ten days on the wall after an initial two days of fixing ropes from the ground.
This 4000 foot line was first climbed in 1974 by a South African team and first freed by Sean Villnueva O'Driscoll, Nico Favrese, and Ben Ditto in 2009 at a grade of 5.12c. This was the second free ascent of the route.

Rare video] Bear attacks climber / I was attacked by a bear while climbing
October 1, 2022 I was attacked by a bear from behind while descending the rocky ridge of Mt.Futago in Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Instead of fear, I switched to the feeling that if it was coming, I had no choice but to face it.
Keep screaming and intimidating
Pound with Hammer Fist
• Front kick
Looking back at the video, it seems that the bear attacked me to protect the cub.
I invaded bear territory, but since they attacked me, I defended myself with self-defense. I learned karate when I was a child, but I liked mixed martial arts now, so maybe I could use hammer fist instead of punches.

This Asian Man Ran the FASTEST 60m in Human History | Su Bingtian 2012-2021 Metamorphosis 9.83|6.29
A story of how a short Chinese kid went from finishing last in the Olympic race to become one of the Fastest humans ever on earth. An absolute underdog story of doubt, perseverance, hope and daring...
Official data has been released recently that confirms Su Bingtian as the fastest short-distance sprinter in history, running the fastest 60m (6.29) ever recorded, under any conditions (followed by Usain Bolt's 6.31 and Christian Coleman's 6.32). His time would translate to an astounding 4.07 40 yard dash under NFL combine timing, way faster than the current record of 4.22 by John Ross. His 9.83 in the 2021 Olympic Semi-Final is also among the Top 13 Fastest times in human history. To put this in perspective, 9.83 is enough to win gold in any Olympics 100m Finals prior to 2008 and enough to medal in any Olympics.
But perhaps the most striking part of Su
Bingtian's story lies elsewhere...
