Welcome to Piano Chords Unlimited. If you want to master chords on the piano, then you’ve come to the right place.
On this channel you will learn every chord in the known universe. We’ll start with simple 3-note major and minor chords and progress all the way up to 7-note jazz chords.
Learning simple and complex chords is just a matter of conditioning your hands and fingers.
Chords are the key component to every song ever written. In order to get an in-depth understanding of music, the study of chords is imperative.
In this lesson you will learn the E minor 5-finger scale, broken chord and blocked chord.
Notice that there is only one note in the E minor chord (Em) that is different from the E major chord. The 3rd note of the scale is the note that determines the quality of the chord; thereby making it either major or minor.
Every major and minor chord is built from the 1st, 3rd and 5th notes of its corresponding major or minor scale — which is why each lesson will start with the first 5 notes of that scale.
The 5-finger scale will move to the broken chord — which is where you will play the notes of each chord individually.
From there you will play the block chord — which is where you will play the notes of each chord together at the same time.
Some students find blocked chords a little more challenging, which is why the blocked chord exercise follows the broken chord exercise.
After you’ve performed the broken chord exercise, your fingers will already be in the correct position to play the blocked chord.
In future lessons, you will learn chord inversions. Inverted chords are when you simply play the notes of the chord in a different order.
There are many reasons why you would invert a chord. One reason would be to make the change to the next chord smoother and easier.
Anyone can learn the most complex piano chords if they’re willing to invest the time.
The video lessons at Piano Chords Unlimited are short, usually 3 minutes or less — thereby making it possible for students with busy schedules to fit music lessons into their daily and weekly lifestyles.
If you truly want to master chords on the piano — then let’s get started.

“Yesterday” by the Beatles — Jazz Piano Cover by Guy Faux
“Yesterday” by the Beatles — Jazz Piano Cover by Guy Faux
I recorded this song so you could hear a demonstration of what a song sounds like with simple blocked chords.
I will be uploading other songs in different playing styles so you can get a good idea of how songs sound using straight blocked chords.
This will help you to know WHY I am focusing on chords in these online video piano lessons.
If you’ve been learning the major and minor chords from my videos, then you have already experienced broken chords (notes of a chord played separately), and blocked chords (notes of a chord played together).
In the beginning, you will find that it is easier to play blocked chords with your left hand when you are playing any right hand melody.
It’s a lot harder to play broken chords with a melody because there is a great deal more movement in your left hand — which creates a lot of coordination issues.
There is much less movement in your left hand when you play blocked chords (notes of a chord played together), thereby making it much easier to coordinate both hands.
Once you have learned all 12 major and 12 minor chords, you will progress to 4-note dominant 7th chords and minor 7th chords — which is simply adding 1 note to each of the 12 major and 12 minor chords.
If you enjoy my jazz piano arrangement of “Yesterday” by the Beatles, then here are links to some of my other relaxing piano videos. I hope you enjoy them!
You can download the free solo piano sheet music from each of my ORIGINAL piano videos using the special download link located in the description box below each Rumble video.
Unfortunately, I cannot offer free sheet music for cover songs for obvious copyright issues.
However, I do provide LIVE online piano lessons via Zoom or Skype — in which case I can teach you any one of my arrangements, cover or original. (see link below)

In this lesson you will learn the G major 5-finger scale, broken chord and blocked chord.

In this lesson you will learn the C minor 5-finger scale, broken chord and blocked chord.
Notice that there is only one note in the C minor chord (Cm) that is different from the C major chord. The 3rd note of the scale is the note that determines the quality of the chord; thereby making it major or minor.
