Fire season is over and husband & wife do the 1st burn on their property
Fire season is finally over. Wow that was a long and smoky summer. We are now finally able to burn some of those trees we cut down at the beginning of summer. The kids had a blast and even though the temp was near freezing, we stayed so warm with this gigantic bonfire.

look at the property when we were looking to buy. Do we buy it? Is it perfect?
First look at the property when we were looking to buy. Do we buy it? Is it perfect? This is when we feel in love with what became our land.

Husband, Wife & Kids help! Family all help in adding shelving and insulation in our off-grid cabin.
On this trip up the the mini cabin we realized it was hot inside last time and we will need some type of insulation. We went with the typical shed type insulation like the tough sheds have. So I put it up and wow we felt the difference during the day and the cooler nights. We also needed some shelfing to organize our life so Jon cut some shelves and secured them. They aren't the prettiest but our cabin isn't for looks, its for comfort. We love it and that's all that matters.

1.5" - rock delivered on 160 feet of dirt driveway and adding a covert pipe
We have approx. 160' of dirt driveway we dug out into the property. Before winter we had some work to do so we didn't have a muddy mess. We had to put a covert pipe in the seasonal small creek that runs in the middle. We also had to dig out some of the hillside to even out the steep dip into the driveway and widen the road. We are done and now ready for the rainy season.

Husband and Wife build beds and loft and someplace to sleep and stay warm.
Working on our 6.5 acres, we not only shelter to keep us warm, but beds to sleep in. Until now, we were sleeping in a tent. No running water, no electricity, working all day long in the heat, and then sleeping on the hard ground wasn't working. Cabin is not complete but it will slowly get there. Remember, this isn't our forever home, but it is more affordable than a trailer. It works for us, and that is all that matters. Only thing is, it will get cold on those crisp winter night. We will work on that next!

So many trees to cut down. Husband and wife cut nearly 120 trees from their Oregon Property.
We have done so much work in the small amount of time we have owned this 6.5 acres. Living 6 hours away doesn't help, but we do as much as we can when we are up. When we go up it work, work, work. Even when its 100 degrees out.

Building Our Off Grid Mini Cabin Timelapse, well kinda!
We just purchased 6.5 Acres in Southern Oregon and need a place to stay while we go work on the property. The first few nights we stayed in a tent and quickly realized we needed a Tiny Home. Tiny home, small house, mini cabin, trapper shack, shed, whatever we or others call it, this little off grid spot gives us all the comforts we need for a comfortable and warm nights sleep. Its 15 x 8 feet inside with a 4 x 15 foot front porch. The inside is 120 square feet with a queen sized bed and a loft for the kids to sleep. It took approx. 6 days to finish the entire outside of the cabin. We even are buying a small futon for guests. This is exciting because its the first step to preparing for our move from California (Bay Area) to Southern Oregon.

We did it.. We closed escrow on 6 acres in Southern Oregon! Yay!! Lets make a road to get in.
We have a family of 6 who live in California. Well full disclosure two of them are away in college, so they are out of the house. While two little ones are still with us. We are the Bossi Family. We currently live in California (Bay Area) and we hate it. Although we are both from here and our families are here, we both love the country. We went on vacation to Southern Oregon, Grants Pass, and we feel in love. Grants Pass is a slower pace of life with the same views as we have and we just love it. So, we bit the bullet and realized we were ready to buy some land to slowly build our new life. Hopefully we will be able to find employment and move within the next year, but we know eventually this will be out forever home. Follow us on "Our Bossi Adventures" and see what we are seeing. Thanks!
